Ordered Rusty Bucket on DoorDash and went with one of my usuals -- a gluten-free bacon burger with lettuce and garlic aioli . When the order first arrived, the receipt actually said gluten-free, but the burger had a regular bun instead. I didn't catch it right away, but after taking a bite something felt off. The bun had sesame seeds, which tipped me off since their gluten-free buns normally don't. Since I have to eat gluten-free, I contacted DoorDash and they refunded the order. I reordered, and the second order came out correct . Things happen, but I really appreciate when companies handle issues the right way. Rusty Bucket and DoorDash both made it right, which goes a long way. Overall still a positive experience, and I'll definitely be ordering again. Probably tonight. read more

Ordered the daily special which was chicken pesto pasta. Also ordered a kids slider, and fish tacos. Overall for the quality of the food and the quantity, the price point was not justified. $20 for the tacos, $20 for the chicken pesto, $9 for the sliders kids meal. In terms of the quality the meals were all pretty heavy and oily with the chicken pesto being the most heavy and oily. The sliders my kid did like although the fries were a bit soggy and bland to a kid who usually loves fries. The fish tacos were pretty good along with the corn salsa that is included and I'm glad I got this since it wasn't too heavy. The atmosphere was nice and dark with moderate lighting. The service was okay. There was people coming in on a Sunday morning. Overall it was just an average American restaurant in my opinion with the food not worth the price. read more

We came here for a work function and were pleasantly surprised when they seated us in a private room. We hadn't requested it, but since it was available, they generously offered it to us. I ordered the Cincinnati Spaghetti, and it was absolutely delicious--very flavorful with plenty of fresh vegetables. The restaurant was clean, and the staff was incredibly friendly. We were in the area for a conference and needed to catch some March Madness on the way back home so we stopped into the Rusty Bucket. Truly have no complaints about the restaurant, team members, food or drink. We sat at the bar for drinks and some snacks. The bar tender was attentive and welcoming. The energy was rather mixed, those at the bar heavily into the various games that were being televised and then there were those having a casual lunch. Our drinks were cold and food was hot. Recommending the Philly steak sandwich, it was solid. Would stop again if in the area and needing to catch some sportsball on the telly. read more

I invited my cousin from the Eastside of Detroit to lunch today. She had never heard of this restaurant...... There were 3 of us who all ordered a different meal..............Lunch was a resounding PLUS!!!!! On top of a great meal we had a WONDERFUL waiter, Murray!!!! I would ask for his section every time!!! I mentioned to him that the Salmon salad was the best I'd ever had as it's usually what I order every time!!! I've often gone by this place in just assume that it would be like an Applebee's or Chili's. Shame on me. We should never assume we should always go in and give it a try lol. Our server was kind and understanding I was waiting for a person to join before I ordered and she was very kind about checking back in and making sure that my drink was filled while I waited. I tried the Cuban sandwich which was a delicious and huge. I would definitely come back and order the same or possibly something different if I could get my mind off of it. The atmosphere is good there's lots of tvs, if you're looking to watch sports this might be a good place to sit and relax. Server KJ was awesome! 6 people for lunch- 2 couples, my father-in-law & my 2yo grandson- at noon on a Saturday. Restaurant NOT busy. Placed orders, soups & grandson's kids meal arrived promptly. Waited 30 minutes for another meal to arrive. (Grandson is done and now antsy). 3 guys meals arrive. My cheesesteak sandwich has burnt & crispy cheese on top with cold fries. Wait another 15-20 minutes for girls meals...guys nearly done eating. My wife ordered club sandwich with NO MAYO and crispy bacon. Got the opposite...mayo and chewy bacon. Mgr apologizes and offers to remake club. Wife politely declines saying we've waited too long already. Mgr brings second sandwich anyways. KJ constantly apologizing for mistakes. Brings bill totaling $150 WITHOUT TIP. I tip KJ 20% because he did all he could but I pay $180 for a very disappointing lunch experience. read more

Food was poor. Orders were wrong. Service was intermittent. Atmosphere all right. Hostess distracted and not so friendly. Waiter polite. Temperature of the restaurant was even colder than the food which was lukewarm. Maybe a good place to go if you want to sit in a warm sweater and bring some snacks to eat while you wait. Ordered two medium steaks and meatloaf. Meat was a gray well-done color, the mashed potato sides dry with no butter. Meatloaf was barely warm. The substituted mashed potatoes for fries for one meal, though we did not want that. The broccoli was unseasoned. The mushrooms on the steak were good. My daughter took her wrong order and ate it. I complained about my steak. The waiter offered to replace it. I was concerned about how long that would take He promised five minutes to get a new steak. Stupid...that couldn't be right. It took ten minutes to get a water refill. Should have just eaten what they served. At least 20 minutes later, maybe more, a very rare steak with a ton of thistle was brought to the table. I didn't see any hope of fixing this. I asked for the check, the rest of my party had finished their meals long ago. If I go back, I'll bring a meat thermometer, as it doesn't appear they have one. They took the meal I did not eat off the check without me asking. The waiter was polite, but not so reliable based on the fact that one order had the wrong side, two orders were cooked incorrectly, a third order was barely warm, the replacement of one order took much longer than he indicated, that he told me the "beer in a bag" was a local brew, which turned out to be Busch Lite in a can with a Detroit Lions logo, and after he told me he took the meal off the bill, he brought me the bill with the meal on the bill. read more

The food at the rusty bucket is usually pretty good. The service is always friendly location sometimes is very cold so wear hoodie I believe it's from the garage doors that open up for the patio summer that make it this way but non the less always a good time at the Rusty bucket bring back the chicken tender sandwich it was the best read more

I hadn't been here in over 5 years but I had a meeting The server was nice but too honest about stuff. It was kinda awkward. Except when they talked about the pizza. They said it's a big pizza "like 24 inches", which I knew was probably false but I expected a large pizza, not thin crust. Thankfully it was delicious and probably best for my health that it was thin crust but still, not what I was expecting with the hype. My group also ordered a pitcher of punch, per the server's suggestion (way to upsell!) and that was also delicious but the server complained it took forever because the bartender is cranky and doesn't like to work. This is the 2nd one of the chain I have eaten with the other one being in Ohio. I have heard about them on the radio and others that have tried them. Both times, I wasn't impressed. Yes, they have a wide range of food. Pizza, burgers, pasta, fish - what you expect for a tavern eating place. My group had half and half reaction, some liked their choice, others didn't. My salmon, rice, and green beans was what I expected. The gluten free cheesecake was a hit for me and the other two who ordered it. Only one of us had an adult beverage so maybe that is why we didn't join those who give this chain high marks. Service wasn't that great. My to go box beat my salmon by 10 minutes and I had to flag down another server just to get a refill of diet Pepsi ( that got a star off for not having Coke). The other Meetup group there had about the same experience. We compared notes. Glad I tried, but wouldn't be back. read more

This review is closer to a 2.5 star one instead of a straight 2 star review. This was my first visit to a Rusty Bucket in years; basically, I couldn't remember if I liked it or not so going to dinner with a meet-up made sense. Rusty Bucket has a lot of parking behind the building. You can enter the parking lot from either Woodward or Square Lake (i.e. pretend you are going to Tim Hortons). There is outside seating however we ate inside because it was pouring or at least when we sat down projected to start pouring shortly. The tables are farther apart then they would've been pre-pandemic. And tables that they aren't able to separate easily, they have plexiglass barriers up. You have the option to look at the menu via a QR code or a laminated menu that is easy to clean. Note, dessert is not on the main menu. The last good thing about dinner was my dessert. The cheesecake is Gluten-free and you can't tell. It comes with whipped cream and strawberries. One weird thing was that it came on a plate that was similar in color as the cheesecake. I would definitely have the cheesecake again. So here's the reasons for the decrease in stars. Our waitress was pretty much non-existent for much of dinner. One of the people I was eating with had to ask another waitress for a beverage refill after she asked our waitress 2x. Even though a lot of people were drinking water, that doesn't mean disappear. The appetizer that I went with (I hadn't eaten lunch) was the Spinach and Artichoke dip. I asked our waitress which was better between that one and Brussel sprouts. She recommended the Brussel sprouts and oh how I wished I took her recommendation. The Spinach and Artichoke dip was just yucky. The cheese didn't taste like cheese so I'm not sure what it was but, I believe it was called liquid gold. That should've been my clue as to why our waitress wasn't recommending it. I ordered the Bacon Burger with no buns and fries. The burger came out with a bun! They took it back and it came back quickly so I don't believe it was redone rather the bun was removed. I asked for the burger to be medium well and it came out at medium. I didn't send it back because I was hunger and based on the quick turn about the bun, I wasn't sure it would be corrected correctly. Don't order the fries unless you want salt with a side of fries. The fries were so salty that my mouth was burning with salt. All that I tasted was salt until 1/2 through the cheesecake. read more

This time we got the half off appetizer version which comes with an extra tender and it was mmm just like I remembered! Can't beat the breading/crust on this thing! I feel like every time I order something is wrong with my meal. One time, I ordered a burger well done. The center was raw it could have said "moo." Today, they fought the cheese on my sliders. They fixed it, but it's riddiculous. They seem to struggle with correctly preparing carryout orders. It's convenient because we are right next door to them. But I'm not sure it's worth the hassle. The hostesses are great. Very pleasant and helpful. Not sure I'm. In a hurry to order again. 2.5 stars. read more

Good... the food is actually really good for a place that functions as a bar & grill. The burgers are hand packed rather than frozen pucks, and the server let us know those pierogis are made in house and not frozen from a box. Score for a legit kitchen and decent service! The only down side is that it can be busy, even on a weekday afternoon or a weeknight, there just apparently isn't quite enough rusty Bucket to go around in this part of town. Expect a wait if you aren't in early or don't have enough people to score a reservation/ but there are enough tables that even the wait goes quickly. Sorry no pics this time! read more

Pleasant atmosphere, friendly service. Their wings were great- large portions, and be sure to ask for extra napkins!! We also had a very good pizza, but were so full from the large portion of wings that we took half home. It was just as good last night leftover. I would actually be leaving a 4.5 rating if it were an option. This was my first time here and I found the experience enjoyable and would definitely recommend to friends and family. The ambience is a step up from typical sports bar tavern from the decor, booths offer ample seating (up to 6 people) without being cramped. Our server was a pleasant young lady who was professional yet very warm and friendly, adding humor to the busyness of the place on a March Madness Saturday prior to dinner rush. For appetizers my sister had the wings which were cooked well and hot on arrival, nice sauce selection. I had the tomato basil soup (torn between that and their famous chili- per menu/ server) and it was delicious. Homemade soups daily, as well as menu items. My sister had the fish and chips, decision enhanced by the site of an order going to another table. 2 generous pieces (halibut?) lightly battered and fries were hot, crispy. My Cuban sandwich was fabulous on a toasted brioche bun with crunchy chips on the side. I had a tasty margarita which was a special for happy hour. Service was timely & attentive without being rushed, with other staff members helping deliver food to tables while hot. The noise level was actually good considering the number of patrons watching college basketball, no uproariously loud shenanigans so that you couldn't hear each other talking. Restroom was clean and nice esthetics. My only complaint is our booth was so chilly with a constant breeze that I had to eat with my scarf wrapped around my neck. Our server acknowledged that it was cold and apologized informing us, "It's because of the ventilation system. "Unfortunately, this booth is the only spot in the entire restaurant that is like this. And if we turn down the fans, then the whole place is unbearably hot." So avoid the corner booth to the left, when you enter the doors! read more

The food is nothing you can't find at any American style restaurant but the atmosphere and service make it worth it. It is just so cozy and welcoming. Lots of parking and seating available and I've only had to wait once. I've tried nearly everything on their menu and nothing disappoints. Ahi Tuna sandwich, Shrimp Scampi, Margherita pizza, Pesto Chicken pasta, fried pickles, house salad, hummus and veggies, veggie burger and French Onion soup are some of my favorites. I came back here to have the tuna wrap again and it was good. However the roast carrots were not as good as last time - I took one bite and left them for dead. They were hot but tasted like no seasoning at all - not even salt & pepper. That one lone pepper looking flake in the pic is an anomaly. No good roast flavor to them. I really like this place and have never had a bad experience here. To be honest I've never even had a mediocre experience here. The dining area is very nice, incredibly clean and the staff is always super friendly and awesome. The food is great and they have really good specials. Horrible dirty. Was there last week with my son to get dinner the waitress use the same rag on all the tables and chairs to clean them and best part they were still not clean. There was no soap or spray used. The food brought was cold and halfway. I don't know how the health department has not close them down yet. It is dust all over the place so dirty very horrible management. read more

I'd been to another location before, so I was familiar with the type of restaurant. Let me get through this before I get to my biggest disappointment. We go around 3 on a Saturday so it's empty. I'm guessing because of the time of day, there weren't many staff because the service was so slow! Our server was nice, she did let my pop get empty though and it took a while to get a refill. But again, I'm giving her the benefit of the doubt and blaming this on not enough staff. I love french onion soup and eat it when I can. Theirs is great. It's a very savory broth and you get quite a bit too. I am always disappointed when I get all onion and no broth, this was not the case. The baguette was soaked with broth and had delicious flavor and the cheese was melted to perfection. My main course was the pizza. This was my biggest disappointment!!! I swear, they don't even make the crust. The crust tasted like a low quality Boboli. No texture, just cardboard. I had the veggie pizza. Not that I expect and overpower of flavor with the veggie, but there was no flavor. The sauce was bland. The veggies were bland and needed some seasoning. It was just yucky. So disappointed. If you go, skip the pizza. Maybe try a burger. That's what I'll have next time. read more
