Sad space for the big dogs.
    Kayla P.

The little dog park area is so cool! Too bad I don't have little dogs because the big dog area is SHIT! The little dog area has obstacle courses and a ton of grass and shade... the big dog park is bare, hot and boring. And don't even ask the little dog owners if you can join because they will just be assholes and tell you their little dogs won't be happy, and that their little dogs might bite my big dogs. Maybe you shouldn't teach your tiny dog not to bite. Such a disappointing space.

Great park for doggies. Just STAY AWAY FROM THESE PEOPLE... She reported my review to be offensive so I modified...but I'm back.

    Sweet Piper for Reference

I'm new to the area and wanted to take my sweet Piper to the local dog park. This is the closest dog park to my house so I figured I would give it a try despite some of the reviews the park has. I arrived and was pleasantly surprised by the atmosphere. It's a beautiful park, lots of dog bowls filled with water, and some scattered toys for the pups. I went in the early evening and there was a good amount of people with their dogs. Since Piper and I are new to this park/ area I decided to introduce myself to some of the locals. I met a few potential friends which was awesome. While sitting on the bench watching my dog, a blonde lady introduces herself. I was a bit skeptical since she looked like the lady from the pictures, but I'm no one to judge. After some small talk she had asked me if I wanted to join her "pup shmuck" group. I had no idea what that was, but she so adamantly explained it to me without hesitation. She called herself and her group " the shmucks" and she was the "shmuckmaster" which I'm assuming is the leader? I felt super awkward and wanted the conversation to end, but she kept going despite my uncomfortable body language. She told me that her goal was to run everyone out of this dog park and to rule it. I obviously said I was uninterested and that doesn't sound very kind. After I had rejected her invitation to join her group she said that my 10 lb. dog was "too big" to be at the small dog park and that "autistic dogs aren't allowed". I was livid, but I wasn't going to create any drama. I picked up Piper and we left. I only come back during the day while the "Pup Shmucks" aren't there. Overall it's a great dog park, but I would recommend going when the Shmuckmaster isn't there.

Apparently people can't read signs. Owners don't care regardless of the size of their dogs. Small dog area with large dogs. Let in 5mins.

Nice park, friendly dogs. People tend to mind their dogs and clean up after them. Lots of grass when it's open.

There are two separately fenced dog areas, one for "small" dogs (35 lbs. and under) and one for dogs larger than that. As you would expect, the small dog area is slightly smaller, however, both areas are reasonably sized, with plenty of room for activities (Step Brothers... Anyone?)! But seriously, there's enough room in either park to be able to throw a tennis ball with a chuck-it and fir the dog to get some speed and work out that energy. We typically go pretty early, around sunrise before I start work. The folks I've encountered have all been friendly, and there's some "regulars" that I'm becoming familiar with. There seems to be an unwritten rule along the early birds, to take your pup(s) to whichever park isn't currently occupied, regardless of size. Now, I'm OK with this and follow suit, since my dog isn't very interested in other dogs, and is more interesting in chasing the tennis ball. That being said, it's a dog park for the public, so don't expect not to have to share! Besides, a little socialization is good for you and your animals! My only gripe is that a lot of people don't pick up after their pups, so land mines are aplenty. I do my best to make the rounds when I get there and clean up a bit, mostly selfishly so I don't get an unwanted surprises. I've never had an issue with parking, although the lot isn't exactly huge, but usually isn't too busy which is nice. I always take a peak when driving by and that seems to be the case any time if the day, any day of the week. I'm new to the area since November, so curious to see if it's a seasonal thing, and if crowds will increase as the weather heats up? We'll see! Nice little walking trail around the park, with a small children's playground. If you hope back onto Alderwood and head just a bit further (50 more yards?) there's another little park, a community center with restrooms, two half court basketball courts, two pickle ball courts, and a small grass area. I also take my son (I mean that in the literal sense, definitely not referring my pet as my child) to both parks and he always has a good time!

Lake Skinner - A Perfect Camping & Glamping Escape!…read more Yesterday, I packed up my two boys (ages 8 & 10) and their friend from school (also 8) for our very first camping/glamping adventure at Lake Skinner--and it was absolutely perfect. We booked a site with just the basics--electrical and water hookups--for only $50, which was all we needed for our tiny camper. The campground was clean, well-organized, and had plenty of open sites with different options and amenities, including a camp store for convenience. Some of our favorite spots were the splash pad and the playgrounds--perfect for keeping the kids entertained. Even if you just come for the day, these areas alone make it worth the trip. The kids had a blast, and it was wonderful seeing so many other families enjoying themselves too. Since we had their friend with us, we left around 8 PM to drop him back home--only about a 20-minute drive to Murrieta--then returned to the campsite, played a few games in the camper, and settled in for the night. With a 6 AM wake-up, we still made it home in time to freshen up, eat breakfast, and get the kids ready for school. (We even packed their backpacks just in case we needed to go straight from camp!) My boys haven't stopped talking about the trip--how much fun they had, how exciting it was to sleep overnight, and how much they want to go back. As a retired Navy Chief (41 years old) now balancing a busy real estate career, this is exactly how I want to spend my free time--unplugging, connecting with nature, and making lasting memories with my kids. Affordable, family-friendly, and packed with fun--Lake Skinner has definitely earned a spot on our repeat list. We can't wait to do it again!
