This is yet another beautiful, clean, well-manicured park located within the community of Rancho Santa Margarita in Southern Orange County, California. The park boasts three lighted tennis courts, a basketball court, four softball / athletic fields, playground equipment for the children, a lattice covered barbecue and picnic area, many tables and benches, and restrooms accessible to the residents of Rancho Santa Margarita with a key card. This appears to be a great park to enjoy a ball game or a lazy afternoon barbecuing with some family and friends, but a few days ago we ended up leaving much earlier than expected because of a couple of deciding factors. My first frustration was that there was only one large playground equipment structure, which had yellow caution tape and orange netting on multiple spots at the top that was haphazardly coming off. I'm not sure what needed to be worked on with the playground equipment, but I made sure that I steered my daughter completely away from that entire section. I could see that being a big liability issue for the city. Second, as a mother, I felt that the rude and extremely misbehaved children (and only children at the time) in the immediate playground area weren't the best influence for my little toddler. There really wasn't another play area to take her to because of there only being the one piece of playground equipment, unlike other parks in the area. We jumped into our car and immediately hopped over to Cielo Vista Park ending up with a much more pleasant experience for everyone involved!

I would prefer more areas that were not so sandy. The playground has a nice variety of things for the kids to do - swings, slides, a little bit of climbing. Both my 3-year-old and 5-year-old loved it. On a weekend morning, it wasn't too crowded either, which was great! There are plenty of places to sit in the shade and have some snacks as well. There are bathrooms, a huge field, and a gazebo - not sure if it's by reservation only though. There's also a free little library, which is super cute! I love discovering these. Pretty good selection too. There's also plenty of parking, and it's easy to get in and out. Overall, a great place!

Kids loving coming here with the activity center they have, the basketball court and the spacious green field that team sports will meet up here for practice. I've even seen birthday parties set up with gigantic bounce houses so the options are endless. There are no bathrooms, they keep the park clean and they have a cute nook that holds books for anyone to grab and or leave for the next person. Fort building during the summer is here and the park transforms with a lot of creativity from the little ones. Many like the uphill to get a run in or a good hike. There's something for everyone. If you want to go for a leisure walk, let the kiddos get their wiggles out or you want some good cardio.

There's 4 baseball fields, so when it's baseball season I can hit up the snack bar. May I mention this snack bar is top notch, it even has Chick-fil-a sandwiches. By the baseball fields are a few propane BBQs as well... I haven't figured out why at the adult baseball games every night, someone doesn't throw on some burgers or something. Around the park is a trail. The trail is overlooking a view of treetops and nature. That's my favorite part of the park. I drive from Huntington Beach twice a week, and because of how nice the park is, even after a year, I look forward to it still.

Right as you step into the park, you'll notice several benches spread out amongst the grass. There are no covered patio type tables here, but the benches are right next to trees that offer relief from the sun. The kids' playground is visible from the parking lot, with a section for the younger tots and a separate adjacent area for the older children. If I was a child, I would really enjoy this playground. It's a fairly good sized play area for an "older" park. Next to the playground are the tennis courts and next to that the restrooms. Past the restrooms and tennis court is a basketball court. I believe there is a field beyond the area but I am not positive as I haven't been past the restroom area in several years. This park is clean and many people walk their dogs around here and have hangouts with their little ones. It's a park where I feel comfortable and safe to bring my family. That's always a plus.
