Beautiful hidden gem in the middle of the city! Free entry, easy trails and many benches to rest on or to just sit and enjoy nature. We saw turkeys, rabbits, beavers (muskrats?), And ducks. Missed the heron by a few minutes. There are several photo blinds to sit and get great shots of the waterfowl on the ponds.

This Nature Center is a natural haven inside the city itself. Situated in a large wetland area, the center features several ponds within the trees. There are trails leading to the ponds. Follow them and at the ponds you'll be able to stop and enjoy the natural setting, which includes some varied bird life, as well as turtles and frogs. Tip: It's suggested that you remain quiet on the trails so that you can maximize the opportunity to view the wildlife undisturbed by the sounds of humans passing. Within you'll find both signs to inform you about the various tree species; there are also quite a number of benches where you can rest and enjoy the sounds and sights of the center. There are also several bird blinds to allow people to "hike" from the birds to maximize bird watching opportunities.

Upside is it's free! Stopped in as my nephew was building a covered seating area as part of an Eagle Scout project. Between 'supervising' I took a little time to check out the trails and do a little hiking. There are some easy trails to explore the woods, along with some marsh and swampland as well. A decent spot in town to take in a little nature (no Herons this time, but I did spot a painted turtle sunning himself), but unfortunately being so close to Maple St, the drone of traffic takes away some of the peacefulness of being in nature. But like I said, this place is free, so it's not a bad little spot to check out and wander around.

We sat on a bench for a few minutes at the end of the sturdy boardwalk that extends into the largest pond and watched the wildlife.

We came in for our first birthday party experience and it was fun. It moved very quickly and the staff was very attentive. The kids enjoyed laser tag, and I really liked the pizza! You can find most of these games at Dave and Busters. The way their point system for games is set up is weird. Let's say a game is 1.5 points--that means they are taking $1.50 from your game card. Many games were 1.5 points, but there were quite a few that went up to 4. So paying $4 to play one game is outrageous and a rip-off, to say the least. At Dave and Buster's, they have a much better system, and your dollar goes a long way compared to this place. Also, some of the claw machines weren't working properly. People would win a toy, but the door wouldn't open to retrieve it. The staff was walking around, and I let them know. They said they were going to get someone, and we waited for maybe 10 minutes, but nobody showed up. I then decided to go find someone working at the shop, and she helped right away. Maybe we will come back and try the bowling and food, but when it comes to the arcade unfortunately we won't be back for that.

Approach is a great climbing gym given the lack of sport climbing options in the Omaha area!…read more Although I don't live here, I do come often enough that it's a relief knowing they change their routes (by wall sections) regularly. They offer auto belay and top rope options--they do have bolts for leading too (short, 3-bolt routes). Additionally, they also have an area dedicated to just bouldering. The staff are always friendly and helpful. You'll occasionally see the owner with her dogs, too! Pricing is very reasonable and on par with most climbing gyms. If you plan on coming in during the week, pre book your climbing session online for a really great discount! Also, they do offer rental gear if you need it--shoes, harness, and chalk are all available. And you can also buy some gear if you're ready to commit. The only reason why I'm rating them 4 stars instead of 5 stars is because a lot of their intermediate and higher routes are reachy and there's not a short-person beta built into them. Even with this though, they are still the best public climbing gym in the Omaha/Lincoln metros!

It is probably more suited for kids aged five and up but my two year old (and 10 month old) were still happy to explore. The gym has a nice energy with vending machines with healthy snacks and people of all ages climbing. They offer punch cards for kids and trying out the gym is very reasonable (was $7 for us today). We will definitely add it to our rotation of cold weather Omaha activities for active kids! It is also nearby a few good Asian restaurants (Dumpling Empire and Korea Gardens).

When we checked in, we were the only ones participating in the private experience. The intern working there, I believe her name was Kara, was very friendly and did an excellent job explaining everything throughout the tour. This experience is advertised as an "interactive, hands-on experience," where you get to meet some animals that aren't included with general admission, such as the capybara, kangaroo, fox, porcupine, and raccoons. Most of the other animals can be interacted with during the regular experience, with the exception of the animals mentioned above and the wolfdog. The description states that the tour lasts 90 minutes, but we completed the entire experience in about 40 minutes. That may have been because it was just the two of us rather than a full group of six. As part of the safari experience, you're able to choose one animal to spend an additional 10-15 minutes with, and we chose the fox. I do wish they had mentioned at the beginning of the tour that the foxes tend to be skittish. Had we known that, we might have chosen a different animal for our extended interaction. They also provide a bucket of food so you can feed some of the animals during the experience. Overall, we definitely enjoyed spending time with the animals and learning more about them. However, in my opinion, the experience is priced way too high for what is included. While it was a fun and memorable visit, I personally don't feel it was worth the $125 per person cost.
