My house has double entry doors that were worn and in need of refinishing. The last time my doors…read morelooked this way my wife and I tried to refinish them ourselves. That was a mistake as we did not do a good job on them, but they served the purpose and lasted a couple years. Finally, I decided to find a professional to do our doors and started to research the local Home Concepts magazine, Yelp and Google to find the right person to do the job. There are plenty out there to choose from. Most of the companies I contacted just asked for a picture of the doors which I sent, but they were either expensive or didn't seem like they really wanted to do them. I came across Q&H Refinishing on Yelp and reached out to them and was immediately impressed with their professionalism and promptness in reviewing my pictures and providing a reasonable estimate. I was also impressed with the fact that they are experts on refinishing all wood products. I agreed to the price, and we set a time and date for the work to be done. Isaac is the owner and personally came to my house to do the refinishing of my doors with his assistant Adrian. These folks were amazing, they arrived a little early which was good and started right on removing the locking hardware and doors with care, covering the entry way with plastic to keep the cool air inside. Once outside they put the doors on stands and started the process of sanding by hand to remove the old polyurethane and stain. He knew right away that it was a previous DIY project, but he didn't complain. Isaac and Adrian worked tirelessly on sanding, sanding and more sanding. They took the doors down to bare wood and then properly reapplied stain. With detail they then applied new polyurethane, hung the doors and reinstalled the locking hardware. He changed screws in the hinges because they were the wrong type in the past and made sure they lined up correctly. Isaac is a protectionist in his trade and did a fantastic job. The entire job took over seven hours but looks beautiful. These doors like new again, so he is obviously an expert in the refurbishing of doors. I will use him for any other refurbishing wood project that comes up. Without a doubt I highly recommend using Q&H Refinishing. stay away!! stay away!! ***they replied saying they never asked for the full 9k decectable, but i…read morehave them recorded on two calls where they did indeed, tell me they had to have the entire dectable before even giving me a quote - not the agremeement or start of work - just the estimate/quote. as for the over $5k, that is exactly what review is talking about, they started "collections" a week after and have not stopped. according to my insurnace comoany - state farm - the insurance check is for the kitchen, the depreciation check is for the remediation. i also have assured restoration on a recorded call telling me my insurance company called them asking if they were paid. my claims specialist and adjuster both said they do not call contractors.**** this is an example of the predatory practices of the houston, texas office. shameful! these are horrible people and horrible company. i would give negative starts if possible. the work was barely ok, but the office staff is the worst and most unprofessional people i have ever dealt with. they demanded my entire $9k deductible upfront to even get a quote for the kitchen remodel after the leak. then they yelled at me and accused me of trying to "make money on the deal" after i refuse to give them that much money upfront, before an estimate, and before any work started. i only used them for emergency water remediation because my plumber referred them. they literally called me every day demanding payment before the insurance even sent the check. then they sent emails, text messages and phone calls threatening to put a lien on my house. very predatory practices. using them at all was a big mistake. stay away!!
