Visit Date: September 3, 2024 This was the last stop my dad and I made on a Hampton's tour. I have this book called 111 things to do in the Hamptons you must not miss. So when I have a chance I've been driving out east to tour what's in the book. This is the oldest operating family run hardware store on LI. My dad and I met Charlie who was one of the employees featured in the book and he let us take a picture with him for instagram. I bought a Stanley. I was trying so hard not to get one but I finally caved. They had 30 oz ones for $40. I don't know if that was a good price or not but I got a nice green one. I wanted to support the store and wasn't sure what else to get I looked around to see if I could get a Christmas gift for someone on my list but didn't really find anything. Let me start out by saying as soon as I walked into the store I was greeted by multiple people asking if they could help me. I kindly said no thank you & want to establish that I'm not generalizing all employees that work here. But the one man who was at the register was beyond rude. I came in looking for a replacement toilet flapper & was confident that I had picked the right one. The employee proceeded to tell me numerous times that I probably did not get the correct one & that he should take a look at a picture of it with his "trained eye"... of toilet flappers. After I told him numerous times that I know that I got the right one for me, he goes on to tell me that he's sure he'll see me back in here because again, he's sure I didn't get the right one. I work for a local business that often shops at this hardware store as well as multiple others on the East End because I prefer supporting the local businesses instead of Amazon & other online companies etc. I am so disappointed & for the record, I got the right one and most certainly will not be coming back. read more

The service at Herricks is incredible. Tom and Charlie are incredibly responsive sales people and the manager Stefon does a great job. The prices are surprisingly reasonable, I recently purchased A variety of plastic storage containers and the prices were as low as Costco and the ease of purchase and the sales help made my decision to shop locally very rewarding They have a very good selection of household items. read more

Just take a break from the Home Depot and Lowe's and support your local hardware store. Call it old school, but this may also help conjure up the childhood memories! Whether I need something or not, I always enjoy taking a stroll through the clean, narrow aisled and friendly store. The staff is always helping guide someone to the solution they seek and the names on their shirts always helps make a connection to the customer. The staff has always talked me through a dilemma and walked me to the location of the answer to my question...they seem to stay with you too to make sure you're okay. So take the walk through, from the front door (household items) all the way back to the welcome mats, address signs and grills...and listen for the squeak of that bird upstairs. Worst hardware store in Southampton. Bought a tool that did not work for my appliance. Had to drive to Lowes to get one that did and the people at herricks says it's non returnable. Try using Warermil lumber first better people better prices read more

A good old fashioned small-town hardware store in the heart of downtown Southampton. Herrick's isn't exactly contractor grade like One Source Tool Supply, but it's well-stocked, convenient, and has a friendly and knowledgeable staff. If you're perturbed by a loud squawking inside, don't sweat it - it's Noel's parrot, back in the office. read more

I LOVE this hardware store. I know nothing when it comes to fixing, hanging or repairing anything, but that's OK because when I come here and explain what I am trying to do, they take the time to explain how to do it and help choose the right items to do it. I wanted to buy a drill just to have on hand and the sales person took the drill out of the box, showed me how to change the bits, where they are stored on the drill, how to charge it, how to use it - and that's BEFORE I even purchased it - because he wanted me to be comfortable with it before buying. They are super helpful and friendly and never make you feel dumb about what you are asking. Loewe's / Home Depot are really over whelming and I can never find anything in there. I will take the small, home town, personal service that Herrick's provides any day of the week. read more
