Wow, what a place! Wife and I were invited to a wedding here, Herrington does a fabulous job at catering an event. The wedding was in the evening the wedding area is set up very nicely, you walk down a small walking way to where they hold the ceremony. The huge tent is air conditioned so it made it a lot more comfortable when it came time for dinner, the views are outstanding. On a clear evening perfect spot for the sun set it had rained earlier so it was a little cloudy not the best sun set tonight. The food, appetizers were very good they had people walking around serving everyone and the dinner was excellent. They served everyone plate, each plate had a mound of mashed potatoes with a piece of chicken topped with crabmeat, a slice of prime rib cooked perfect nice and tender with a sauce with mushrooms and asparagus. very goood! read more

From the food which we got to completely customize to the bar to the incredible people we got to work with (should out to Lexy and Melissa) it was the perfect day. I attended my cousin's wedding this past weekend. Whole the venue setting is beautiful. The food is two thumbs down. Let's start with the cocktail hour appetizers--they had two tables set up for appetizers, but the tables were always empty! Guests ended up using the tables to dump their garbage. I waited and waited--after 1 hour I had a little piece of pork belly with a tablespoon of mashed potato and a mini shot of cheddar soup. Now let's move on to the main course--everyone was served salmon. No choice at all! The salmon was bland and smelled very fishy, many people sent their meals back. I remembered my cousin said we will have steak. Their idea of steak is deli sliced roast beef in middle of table with some horseradish sauce. Kids had ice cold chicken fingers and frozen fries. We sent the kids food back and requested for it to be heated. It still came back cold. Don't waste your money on just the view. Your guests will be very unsatisfied. read more

Like many others we attended a wedding here last weekend and everything was beautiful. It was a beautiful setup and everything at the venue was great. The food was delicious, the servers were extremely friendly and hard working which is hard to come by, and we enjoyed our experience. The appetizers were held downstairs and often the tables were a little empty which is my biggest negative, but I forgot all about that after we got our meals upstairs. For dinner we had a chicken dish from the groom's moms recipe and a sliced roast beef with horseradish sauce. WOW. Seriously probably the best catered food I've ever had, everyone was commenting about how good it was. We were so impressed. Great venue, great workers, for everyone who had complaints about food might want to consider that's not always the venues fault. read more

I visited here, maybe about last October for potentially holding my wedding here. The main building seems outdated and needed some slight touches, like a new layer of paint and perhaps knock the dust out in the corners. We met with a coordinator who tried to woo us with bread and fruit, hmmm- was not really impressed. We later saw the grounds, which you are charged an outrageous price for having a ceremony on site. The lodging reminds me of a camp lodge. This place is good if you really want to give away your money. Finding a decent place and affordable in MD has been a nightmare. Any venue by water they automatically jack up the pricing. As a bride you are told its your day and you get what you want. What I want is a venue that will not have me bankrupt. And I am just saying this is not even worth it. BUT if you just want some place near water than this has that. read more

I had my wedding here on May 13, 2016. Everything was perfect. I was planning the wedding with them for over a year. The wedding coordinators were very helpful and attentive. I was very impressed with their coordination on the day of the wedding. I also dropped off my wedding decorations and just said make it look pretty and they did! This place is amazing! We had a nice winter wedding and the staff were phenomenal. The food was fantastic. They really made my wife and I very comfortable and made the wedding process so smooth. Adria and Britney and the rest of their team were very professional, and they went out of there way to make our day amazing. The venue was beautiful, and we couldn't imagine having it anywhere else after the terrific experience we had there. The bartenders, cooking staff, just everyone involved made it great. There are no words to express how incredibly grateful my husband and I are to the team at Herrington on the Bay for how successful our special day turned out to be. After an almost two-year engagement, months of excitement had been building up, leading up to what would be the most amazing day of our lives. Months of planning, from big picture to the tiniest detail, and we never once felt like the HOTB staff wasn't there to support us. Let's start at the beginning: My husband I were introduced to Brittany at the beginning of our planning stages. We were still settling in on a date, and a variety of variables including school and work schedules, were still up in the air to determine whether our wedding would take place in the Summer of '17 or '18. Brittany created multiple quotes for each scenario that we were considering, enabling us to compare and come to the decision that fit best for us. Once we had a date, Brittany got right to work on every detail. My husband and I are both planners, and came with a binder-full (an actual binder-full) of ideas, samples and specifics of what we wanted to include. Brittany took our ideas and rolled with them, and offered us her own insights that helped tie everything together! Flash-forward a couple of months, and we are introduced to our day-of coordinator, Sam. Sam was incredible! She worked with all of our vendors to ensure every detail was taken care of, and that we were free to enjoy every moment of our big day! Lexy and Kelsey were also instrumental in helping make everything such a success. Lexy is such a joy to be around and makes everyone feel at ease and seemed to be there to help every time the smallest issue arose! And at the eleventh hour, when we could not get our DIY programs printed, Kelsey came to the rescue and took so much time out of her day to help us get them printed in the office. The entire team makes it their mission to make your wedding day perfect. The venue itself is stunning! We couldn't count the amount of times our guests told us how perfect the venue looked, and how this was "the most beautiful wedding they have ever been to!" We owe that all to the team at HOTB! Every detail from the table settings, to the views, to the incredible food were perfect, and made our day more special that we ever could have hoped! read more

What a beautiful marina and grounds! We loved staying here in a transient slip. The kids really enjoyed the pool and we liked being able to order lunch while they swam. So many conveniences close to the dock like the Chesapeake Market & Deli where we got dinner the one night and picked up miscellaneous supplies another time. They have a nice beach and were showing outdoor movies there for the kids at night. read more

I attended a wedding here and the venue is lovely. I was not impressed with the wedding planner who seemed rushed and disorganized. There was a competing party (not wedding) next to us that was playing rap music during our ceremony. I think any qualified wedding planner would have made sure that did not happen. The ceremony was only 5 minutes long. The staff was helpful if you knew what to ask for but did not offer any assistance or be proactive. I would think that their experience with weddings far exceeds ours. There was an issue with the seating chart and in general I thought if they were more organized the planner would not have to had to bug the bride as much on her big day. I think the Herrington is an example of a venue that knows it is a beautiful space and then lacks on service. read more

We got married at Herrington's Polynesian Bridal Lawn/ Paradise Ballroom on August 3rd, 2013. My new husband and I have said multiple times in the past few weeks that the best decision we made in wedding planning was choosing HOTB as our venue. From the moment we arrived at Herrington for our initial meeting with Michael, we were treated with the highest importance - although there are so many weddings done at this location every year, we always felt like ours was special. When we would arrive for a meeting, staff knew us by name, and we were greeted with fresh baked goods from the chef. Their attention to detail was superb, emails and calls were returned immediately, and our questions were always answered with, "Of course we can do that for you!" When it was time to make the switch from Michael to our day-of coordinator, Ethan, the "pass-off" was seamless. Ethan already knew all of the details of our wedding, and Michael still checked in to see how things were going. Adria also was amazing and helped us to plan a beautiful rehearsal dinner at Calypso Bay. On the day of our wedding, it threatened to rain, and both Michael and Ethan were so on-top of things, watching the weather radar and knew exactly what our "window of time" was to hold the ceremony without getting rained on. They made decisions quickly, involving our other vendors and working extremely well with them. They knew exactly which decisions to include myself and my husband in, and which ones to take over. Where other locations may have said, "It looks like rain, let's go with plan B," HOTB made it so that we were still able to have our dream outdoor wedding on the water. We could go on and on about how beautiful Herrington is, how delicious their food is, and how convenient it is to have a ceremony, reception, and hotel all on one site. But all of that wouldn't have mattered without the quality of the people we worked with for the past 16 months. We can't thank them all enough!! read more

I had my wedding here and it was amazing the staff was wonderful, the venues are all beautiful. I hardly added any decorations mostly just centerpieces. A staff member named Kevin helped my mother-in-law load up all of our gifts after the reception. Ask for Brittany she was so wonderful throughout the whole planning process. Also the food is very good, try the crab dip, delicious!! I definitely recommend this venue for your upcoming wedding. read more

The view and scenary for a outdoor wedding is gorgoues but unorganized staff when it came to directing traffic and parking areas! Food was def not on point for the wedding. If cocktail hr is from 7-8 appetizers should not be all done by 7:20. Dinner plates can out warm if u were lucky but entree were not flavorful! read more

My husband and I had our reception at Herrington on the Bay on May 30th, 2015. From the moment we met with Brittany Bergendahl and Krista Kuechler, we knew this place was perfect. Brittany and Krista were instrumental in helping us plan and coordinate all of the details on our wedding day. They were eager to please. I left a long list of detailed instructions on how to set everything up. Krista went above and beyond with her staff to help us set everything up. It went off without a hitch! The INN was able to accommodate almost all of our family and friends and even helped us find a rental house (The Dover House) for the other side of our family. Overall, on the day of the wedding, I was equally impressed with our private server- Lindsay- who never let us go empty handed with wine or Adam's jack and coke. LOL. Our May 30th wedding was hands down AMAZING. I was so impressed and had the perfect day of our lives. The fireworks too were a special treat at the very end. I was invited to a ceremony "celebrating my grandfather's life". I was excited that he was finally being recognized for all of his great achievements. I mean he had been a positive influence to me for as long I could remember. I arrive and walk into the pavilion tent, and the first thing I hear is, "I'm sorry for your loss". There my grandfather was in the center of the room, in his coffin... What!? Unbeknownst to me, my grandfather had died... Anyway the staff was nice, and my grandfather would've liked it. I still miss him... Bless the Herrington staff they made one of the worst days of my life a little more bayrable. read more

I am rating this venue on the service provided while I was researching wedding venues. I fell in love with the views at Herrington and it was the first venue my fiancé and I visited. During email (prior to the meet), I was in contact with Michael who emailed me the rental fees and sample menus. However, during the in-person meet, I was very disappointed. We spent most of our appointment time being shown the sites, which is fine. But, when we finally got to sit down, I was the one trying to crunch numbers and see what would work for our budget. Then, we were told about his next appointment and I had to take information home to work on by myself. Michael sent us a basic proposal, which I then tried to play around with to get what we wanted, but stay within our budget. Overall, after the reviews I read about this place and Michael, I couldn't understand why he didn't seem to care to help us. Without me asking Michael questions (which hasn't occurred for about two weeks now), he did not put any effort into helping us or making us feel like Herrington would be a reliable place to get married. During our visit the Chef was great, however, that's only a small piece of the overall experience. read more

I was so very disappointed. They boast in their expertise about food allergies & I found their knowledge was inadequate at best. As a person that suffers from several life threatening food allergies I submitted the list of allergens & was told the meal would be prepared without the presence of such allergens & separately to avoid cross contact. As we sat down for the wedding dinner it was told to me they had prepared me a ceasar salad which contains egg in the dressing, I can not have. They take that away & present me with a plate that had mashed potatoes covered with a sauce I didn't recognize, I was informed it was made with red wine...which is clarified with eggs, another no no. Now I sit & wait for at least another 45 minutes & I'm presented with a chicken leg, a piece of chicken breast so thin it looked like fish filet & couple tablespoons of green beans. Why didn't I get the potatoes back plain? My mother's were not covered with a sauce. Was there something in them also? There's hardly a day that goes by in this country that someone dies from an anaphylactic episode due to the ingestion of a food allergen. Had I known they were unable to prepare one special plate of food I would have brought my own. I wish I could say something positive about the experience. read more
