    Birthday Cake!!

Made a reservation and was 5 minutes late, they called to make sure we were coming and reconfirmed. We got seated upon arrival. Kailey (sorry if i spelled your name wrong) was amazing. She had firecracker energy with amazing customer service...Great recommendations and everything you want for service. They had a great beer selection and the menu was full of options for the entire group. We asked questions and Kailey had all the answers. They let me sub out rice for angel hair on the etoufee, which was great and showed its not just pre planned. The room was moderate in noise and felt very comfortable. We also had the fried pickles, deviled eggs and hushpuppies for apps and all were really good. Honestly the service was the best part of our dinner, but the food was right behind it

Quaint coastal dining. Love the ambience. It's a cute cozy place to grab a bite to eat and drink, all less than a 5 minute walk from the beach/boardwalk. I ordered the Captain Hook chicken sandwich. The Captain Hook sauce....chef's kiss. They also have a variety of seafood dishes, cocktails, and desserts. One of my favorite spots to eat at in the summer/early fall. The porch seating is some of the best seating in the house!

Lovely, charming and cozy. I love that is so close the beach and boardwalk. There's nothing better than a waterfront stroll after brunch. The peach Bellini was refreshing and vibing as was the mango cider I was nice and lubricated. The shrimp and grits is savory with a lovely kick of spice. The hush puppies accompanied by cinnamon butter is a decadently dangerous confection. I will most assured return.

02.03.24 Stopped in for lunch wife had the chicken sandwich with fries and I had the hook n vine burger with fries, they gave us a lot less fries than what they usually do. At least they were cooked nice and crispy, the chicken sandwich was very good the burger was good just wish it was cooked to the proper temperature. They do have a very nice drink menu, I wish they would get large ice cubes for the bourbon drinks. If I'm going to pay top dollar for top shelf bourbon I surely don't want a cup full of ice cubes.

TLDR; our food took a lil longer than expected. But we didn't even notice because of the service and the flavor Visited Hook & Vine for the first time with my wife. The atmosphere is busy and the restaurant is surprisingly spacious which you wouldn't believe by just looking at the outside. What we had : Fried Pickles - Hands down the best I have ever had. Thinly sliced and crunchy batter paired well with the house made spicy ranch. Hushpuppies- These were good; the honey butter (house made) made them insanely good! Hook Fried Chicken Sandwich- hefty portion of fried chicken breast on a delicious brioche bun. The chicken is tossed lightly in another house made sauce "hook sauce" which played games with my mind. No too spicy , not too smoky, not too sweet, just a perfect blend of all 3. Buffalo Chicken Tacos- unique twist on the taco made with fresh and flavorful ingredients. Another generous portion . All in all. Hook & Vine offered me and my wife a 1st time experience of an explosion of flavor and unique delicious dishes. I'm upset it took us this long to give it a try, I doubt that will be the case moving forward. Can't wait to come back and cannot recommend this place any more!

Crab dip with pretzels sticks & Blueberry Lavender Non-Alcoholic Drink

I went here by myself after a fun beach day. I sat at the bar. It's a very cozy bar and I liked that the stools were comfortable. The bartenders are super kind and knowledgeable about all the food and drinks they offered. I got the blueberry and lavender Mocktail with the crab dip, and both were divine! The mock tail was very refreshing after the day at the beach, and the crab dip was very well seasoned and had a good amount of crab meat incorporated into it. The pretzel breadsticks were super crunchy on the outside and super fluffy on the inside, and they were very hot and fresh. All and all I do recommend this place to anyone who is spending a day at the beach. It's not that far from the beach maybe a couple blocks so you can walk. However, if you want to drive, it's a it's a two minute drive. Parking is very limited in front of the building, but I would suggest parking down the street and walking.

Very disappointing, won't be back. Over a half hour wait for food and not a busy time in late afternoon.

Ask the Community - Hook & Vine - Kitchen and Bar

Is it kid friendly for lunch?

Hook and Vine is kid friendly for brunch, lunch and dinner. They have a good selection and size portion for kids.…

    Are dogs allowed outside?

Yes, but we are waiting on approval from the health department. This year they have changed the rules for allowing dogs at restaurants, even in outdoor settings. We are in a waiting stage at the moment.

On our first try, we got lost in DC and never found the correct freeway to get to the beach--3 hours wasted! Second try-- same deal. Finally, we got smart phones and figured out how to get East of DC. The following is our 100% factual experience. When we pulled into the dirt parking lot of Abner's Crab House, I could tell my husband was already re-thinking the our restaurant choice. The decor from the outside looks rustic and authentic so I talked him into getting lunch at Abner's (we're new to the East coast and just HAD to try some crabs...). We were seated outside near a tributary and some trash cans that were swarming with flies and smelled much worse than low-tide. There was one other table of people outside near us. At this point, I revealed to my husband that on the East Coast, people straight up crack and eat whole crabs (this offended his Mid-Western sensibilities) and he ordered a crab-cake sandwich. I ordered 6 whole crabs and our waitress taught me how to smash them with a mallot,"remove their lungs", and eat the meat. I was feeling VERY cave-woman at this point. Husband's face? Priceless. The food was nothing special to me, it was a new experience to eat crabs this way but I could not get over the smell of the trash cans and the flies. About half-way through our meal, the most surreal and bizarre thing happened. A little boy and his mother brought out a karaoke machine, set it up about 4 feet from us, and the mother started belting into the microphone. Since it was far too loud for me to hear my own thoughts, let alone speak with my husband: I continued my crab-smashing/lung removing lunch in silence. The next thing we know, the little boy puts on a top-hat and starts singing and dancing to several Michael Jackson songs. The performance was complete with crotch-grabs and moon-walking. Remember there was ONE other table of people sitting outside... Weirdest. Day. Ever.

We were seated immediately. For starters we ordered 2 crab dips, 2 orders of fried green tomatoes, & 2 orders of crispy wings (Old Bay). Our non-alcoholic beverages included Pepsi products (no Coca-Cola ), ginger ale but no ginger beer. All of the appetizers were on point with flavor & texture. Also the Old Bay chicken wings were not as salty as other places serve them. I ordered the crab cake sandwich & onion rings. I had to box my crab cake because the small plates filled me up. I heated it in a pan later with a little olive oil spray and it was good. Our generous shipmate took care of thei bill so I'm not sure if splitting was an option. When we arrived, and explained to the server that we always request separate checks (people tend to come and go at different times), he had to go call the manager. The manager absolutely refused to try to work something out. For context, the place was nearly empty. Many of us had driven down from Annapolis. We do these gatherings several times a month and places are always fine with the arrangement as long as they know before the order is taken. I told her we are used to other places that charge an automatic 22% gratuity to cover any hassle factor. Servers give us each a number or keep track of the seat that gave a certain order. But the manager would not budge. So I had one woman who left without ordering anything and another who only ordered a beverage. The views are lovely. Our server was a nice young man. The food is so-so. I would not order the chicken popper egg rolls again. They were like frozen tostitos. So we will not return. There are plenty of nice places around the Beaches, including Ketch 22, where they want our business.
