I have worked with several online auction companies and Herron is by far the very best. When my husband and I make purchases from them, we see no signs of someone behind the scenes running up the prices of items (we cannot say that about others). The entire process of bidding, buying, scheduling pick-up, and pick up day is very organized and runs smoothly. When I go to pick up items they are usually all together in an area and I don't have to go searching for them. I have had an item get broken before pick-up and upon arrival they apologized and refunded my money. I have had a couple items be taken by another bidder at pick-up (accidentally or intentionally), but Herron Auction has always helped try and retrieve the item or refunded my money. They are a very busy auction company with multiple estate auctions and real estate auctions going on a regular basis. In my many encounters, I have always been spoke to in a professional and courteous manner. On many occasions, I have seen Kevin and his staff multi-tasking while assisting customers in an organized and professional manner. I have been at pick-ups where it was chaotic with parking issues and multiple buyers showing up at one time and it was easy to see how stressful and taxing it could be, but I have never in my multiple encounters seen anything but professionalism. They are all very personable people. I bypass other auctions to wait for upcoming Herron Auctions because I know they are a well-oiled machine and the variety and quality of the items in their auctions are always worth the wait! read more

I purchased items at an online auction they ran through HIbid.com. I won them end June 2025. They still haven't shipped the items, despite telling me multiple times that they'd "have it all taken care of in a few days". Today I asked for either a refund in full or that they ship at their expense. No refund given, god knows when and if they will even find my items. Condescending tone of voice from the owner, seemed irate that I've called a few times. I was unfailingly polite until today. No more. They are either incompetent or lying. Or both. I will never do business with them again, and will file complaints both with HiBid and the Kentucky regulatory agency that licenses auctioneers. Wildly unprofessional. I'm just lucky it wasn't a lot of money. Which isn't the point. Small purchasers turn into repeat customers if treated well. Or just OK. read more

The owner of this company is the most arrogant and disrespectful person I've ever met. I bought a house from them off an auction website(hibid). I was paying cash. They kept me in the dark the whole time after I paid 10% deposit making me wonder if somebody had ran off with my money. Anytime we talked, their office always said we'll reach out to you tomorrow. It was always a game of making me wait to hear an answer. Then when I expressed to him how I felt about some strangers taking my money and giving me no answers, he went on this cocky disrespectful rant saying they are untouchable and have been in business for 75 years over and over and over. His biggest accomplishment in life is inheriting his daddies business. His flaw is thinking it will last forever with that attitude. I cannot accurately express the stress I went through dealing with Herron Auction Realty. Please spare yourself the scam-like experience. Kevin and his family there need to be humbled by flipping burgers instead. I only mention his family also, because the title company we did the closing with said his whole family that works there is like that and very unpleasant to deal with. Herron charges a $25 FFL transfer fee on firearms. That is fine if you are picking them up. But they also charge the $25 FFL transfer fee to those they ship out of state! That is outrageous because they aren't doing the transfer. The buyer pays the transfer fee to the FFL that receives his firearm from Herron. I asked for an explanation but got nothing except their stated policy that they charge the fee, "NO exceptions!" So firearm bidders, you need to be aware so you can reduce your max bid by $25 to cover this unjustifiable fee. read more

In my opinion Herron Action is the most devious, unscrupulous, unprofessional, and just downright despicable auction house and company I have EVER dealt with! They only tell you what is the best case scenario for you as if it is the only scenario. They tell you it's a 5% commission on what you sell and if you want you can bid up your own item and then choose not to sell it if it doesn't bring what you want. However, what they DON'T TELL YOU is that 5% commission is for a sale of over $2,500. Also what they DON'T tell you is if you do "buy back" an item there is a $20 surcharge PER ITEM. Now of course all this is in the contract you sign so the blame really lies on me. However, that being said NO WHERE IN THE CONTRACT DOES IT SPECIFICALLY STATE THE COMMISSION RATE IS PER ITEM AND NOT TOTAL! They also DON'T TELL YOU A NO SALE OR AN ITEM THAT RECEIVES NO BIDS GETS YOU A CHARGE BACK OF $20. They said they'd mail me a check for the No sale however I have yet to receive it. So in my case $1,200+ in sales gained them a 21.6% commission include the buyback fees. I didn't bid on my own items I just declined the sale. read more

Bought from their online auction, got a good price on the initial items. Where they got me? The shipping came out to $44.10!?!? They put the items in an over-sized box, the weight of the items was no more than 15lbs (I weighed the very same items and it came out to just under 12lbs), and they charged a packing fee of $14.10?! I ship for a living, every single day I have packages going out and a package with the items I bought in it should have been no more $24 through UPS, the carrier they used, and that's on the high end. An absolute joke to deal with, I seriously recommend no buys online through these guys, especially on their online auctions. You've been warned... Update: Received said package today, one of the Wii systems looked like it had been repeatedly dropped and did not work, the other was just as cosmetically damaged, but at least that one did turn on. 5 of the games are scratched beyond repair, one of which wasn't even the game it was supposed to be. I saw the other reviews and decided I had to place mine. I have purchased and sold with Herron and have had a great experience. The only reason it is not a 5 is the industry standard 10% buyers fee in most cases. That aside, I though all items listed were as advertised and the rules of an auction is just the way the game is played. Every question I had was answered partaining to the online auctions was answered. Additionally; I have been to some of the live auctions as well and they went just as an auction should go. Herron Auction had a great online auction. I went to pick up my winning bids and the people that greated me were very friendly and helpful.

This is a HORRIBLE AUCTION COMPANY!!! They use shrill bidders to drive up the prices- and then try to sell it to you for an inflated price. We went to an auction on 11 May, and it was the most unorganized mess I've ever seen. The auctioneer and staff were rude and unwilling to assist anyone; to make matters worse there was no planning/organization so everything went on in a haphazard manner (ie skipping items, moving from row to row, etc). After the auction was over the auctioneer (Kevin) sat and had a good old time with his two shrill bidders!!! VERY DISHONEST!! Also: All the "high quality" items promised in the list were in reality junk; the listing was written in a very dishonest manner making things appear better than they actually were. Things were so bad that more than 75% of the people left before the auction was a 1/4 over- many were pissed at how this auction company behaved. In closing, this is not an auction company I would use- or even attend one of their auctions. They should be ashamed of themselves!! read more
