Less than Zero... I got an invoice for a rental that was refunded for lack of an available car 7 months after the transaction. I called the number on the invoice at 1pm EDT and waited 'for the next available' for over 2 hours before giving up and sending an email to the provided address that included all documentation from the failed rental as well as the AMEX refund associated with the invoice. No response; so after 5 days I sent an email to Gil West, CEO. That got me an email response from 'execuative customer service'. After 2 exchanges I was informed that a credit had been issued to clear the account. 2 weeks later I get another invoice for the charge. This leads to another 2 exchanges of emails and being told 'it's taken care of.' 10 days later I get a letter from a collection agency for the invoice. Long story short... it took 14 emails and over 3 more hours on the phone to finally (I hope) rectify the situation. The WORST!!!!! read more

I have a confirmation number and everything I take an Uber to get to their location and they tell me no we don't actually have that vehicle we only have this vehicle which is $140 more so I'm standing in their lobby with no vehicle forced to rent from them. The guy at the counter was incredibly rude when I politely complained to him about this and asked him to honor my reservation. He said no that's not the way it works in this business. Wow, where do I start? We have rented from this place four times in the last year the first time we rented a small pick up and they brought around a king cab Dodge, the big V-8 engine we had to take it to Maine and basically it cost us an extra $400 in gas. The vehicle had a bunch of dents in it and I did a video of it when I brought it back. They tried to blame me until I showed them the video and they backed off well the next two times we're OK. We are waiting to get back to Maine to get another vehicle. So we are renting some for work my wife works different hours so it's just easier then a Uber two weeks ago we rented a car for 4 days I booked it on my account add my wife and I drop her off and everything went great no issue. The young man the check her out was great he remember the last time we were in and thank us for cleaning the car we took to Maine we always clean the cars before returning and this car was really dirty we drove it though to bad snow storms. So this take me to the most unbelievable experience we have never had with anyone. So i book a car the exact same way on my account I pay for it add her name so it's easy for her at pick up. i drop her off and leave 20 minutes later she call me and said my credit card is expired I said no is not and it's al paid so I send her the receipt which showed the card was valid until 2/27. so she hangs up 10 minutes later she calls me back again by this I'm already almost down to Marco says they will not let me rent the car without you here I told her to tell them that her name is on the reservation and we did the exact same thing a two weeks ago she did and they said too bad he needs to be here. then they told her that she could've easily stolen my account and my credit card and fraudulently rented the car she told him you've already been paid for the car. What's the difference? Well, then he said well how do I know your husband didn't get an oui last night what a joke this manager of is an absolute idiot. OK so my by this time I'm going back and I am mad I mean you talk about an unprofessional person let alone a manager he also told her that if someone did that before he would fire him immediately so I walk in the store and I say why did rent it to us last time with no issues so this guy comes out from his office comes around the corner and looks me right in the face and says this is going to happen two ways !!! I said why dont you look up the last rental and why would I even bother adding my wife's name if she couldn't rent the car without me being here she was on the rental. He comes right into my face and says get face at this point it was over. I said I've never dealt with such an unprofessional person in all my life I don't even know how it's possible that you could even be a manager and you're really us some really good customer service wow that's he told me to get the hell out of the store at this point I said I know a friend of mine that's in the corporate office and he'll be getting an email on Monday morning I said it Hurtz really cares about any of their business you will be terminated immediately. The guy's name is Jacob Bathon and I said hey let me get a picture of you so they corporate knows exactly who they're dealing with. I'll show you the pictures on the bottom he hid in his office. Finally, I belittled him so much that he came out and I got a picture of him. If this is the way Hurtz wants to do business it's absolutely crazy so we laughed. Went across the street to budget. Got a nice cute little Jeep compass they upgraded us because of the issues we had with Hurtz the funny part about it is the person we talk to at budget rental cars said that guy is great for business for us. Lol so make sure you save yourself a hassle and don't go to this place because all the reviews that people wrote about them are absolutely true and sometimes I wonder how a corporation can keep a person like this or maybe that's why they're in bankruptcy . I had two reservations. I had to cancel one because I was late picking up the car so it allowed me to do a second reservation. I Ubered to this location and they tell me they don't have a car only have electrical cars... They said the Airport took all of their cars, so why would it let me make a reservation if they did not have the car I booked for me I stated I would tell their supervisor manager and the CEO who flies out all the time and I know him and they said well they don't care !!!!! I said oh I think he will .. also when I walked in .. on his desk, had a finished plate of food just a mess .....had no respect had no Customer service and that attitude of my company doesn't care is unacceptable. When I gave him my license and put it on his filthy desk, he said what is this an insurance card? It was obviously a Florida license and I was showing him proof of who I am ....... This will go further up.!!!!! As the headquarters of hertz I am soo disappointed on my way there for the Google maps I noticed all of the bad reviews, and I even told him that and they did not seem to care whatsoever!!! I rented from Hertz in Estero, FL to go on a trip to Busch Gardens Tampa with my family and grandkids. I picked up the car and immediately noticed a dashboard notice that the key fob battery was low. Thinking Hertz must have certainly tested this prior to rental, I was not concerned. Even if I had wanted to return to the rental facility for a different car, it was now closed and locked and not opening until 8:00 the following day, which was after we planned to leave for Tampa. All went well until the 2nd day when we were planning to leave for the park, the car would not start. After multiple attempts, I sent my family in an Uber over to the park and I stayed at the hotel to deal the car issue. Roadside assistance suggested that they send a tow truck to tow it to the airport to obtain a replacement vehicle. They did not want to chance just replacing the fob battery in case that wasn't the problem. ALTHOUGH OTHER CAR COMPANIES OFFER TO BRING A REPLACEMENT VEHICLE TO YOUR LOCATION, HERTZ DOES NOT OFFER THIS SERVICE. THEY ALSO WILL NOT TAKE YOU TO A NEAR BY HERTZ RENTAL LOCATION TO PICK UP A REPLACEMENT. THEY INSIST YOU COME TO THE AIRPORT TO PICK UP YOUR CAR, EVEN IF IT IS AN HOUR AWAY, AND YOU NEED TO RIDE IN THE CAB OF THE TOW TRUCK WITH THE DRIVER. It took an hour for the tow truck to arrive and after 45 minutes of trying to get it on his flatbed truck, he was unable to succeed. Seems the Nissan could not be put into neutral unless the car was running. That tow was cancelled and I decided to try getting a fob battery on my own. I hired an Uber to take me to purchase a new battery hoping that was the issue. Upon returning to the hotel and trying to again start the car it didn't work. Soooooo I called roadside assistance again and they again ordered a different company's tow truck. After waiting another hour for it to arrive and another 45+ minutes for him to succeed in getting the car on the flatbed, I had to ride along with him to the airport to pick up my replacement vehicle. Upon finally arriving at the airport, the maintenance area is located far from the actual airport. This is where they dropped me off !!!! It was 90 degrees out and I had to walk from this lot to the parking ramp, through the parking ramp and finally to the pick up location. I am 76 years old and suffer from asthma, so this was incredibly difficult to do. No offer to make this easier for me. This whole process started at 11:15 in the morning and I finally returned back to the hotel at 7:00 that evening, and obviously never got to join my family at the park. Once I finally made it to the pick up location, I will tell you that the attendant was wonderful. She handled my new rental very quickly and apologized for my inconvenience. read more

Terrible experience. Don't go here. I arrived at 800 am sharp. I had booked a mid sized SUV. They offered me a Kia Soul. I wasn't thrilled, but I could live with it. I then inspect the car and it has a weird smell. At first, I asked can you spray it. The more I thought about it, I thought no...this isn't right. I told the manager about the situation. Her response was rude and curt. I could pay for a more expensive car or void the transaction. I voided the transaction. read more

I'm only sorry that I can not give the company zero stars at this point. I reserved a rental car with Hertz - confirmation J6261098641- on December 29, 2020. The car rental was supposed to run January 6th through January 8th. My credit card was charged $74.75 immediately, which was fine. I found out that I would not need the car and cancelled the reservation LESS THAN TWO DAYS LATER on 12-31-20. The company has issued a refund in the amount of $26.43, but claims that the cancellation fee was $48.32. During a pandemic, when most companies are trying to work with consumers who have plans change, I can't imagine any reason that they would be able to justify a 65% cancellation fee. read more

Do not trust the reservation you made online like I foolishly did. And don't let them confuse you about fuel surcharges and mileage, because they are entirely separate items. Rental from Thrifty at this location. When I went to return the car at 10am I was told to just park it in a parking space by an employee. Another employee told me to put the keys in the express key return because it was busy. I received my statement of charges the next claiming I did not return the car on time they said I kept the car until 745am the following day because that is when they got the key from the express return and are charging another $90ish. When Hertz sends a review and you respond honestly about the complete lack of professionalism and care you received, and THEN, you go to pick up a car you rented again, giving Hertz a second chance, but they refuse to rent to you because you have a bad review: this is quite possibly the most incredible experience we have ever had. We rent cars for about 5-6 weeks or more a year and have never received such treatment. After calling a number the desk clerk supplied ( waiting 45 minutes on hold and completely missing a scheduled meeting we flew in for), because no one at the desk could help, we were told WE had been rude to a rental agent in Salt Lake City. Please. We arrived after booking a car 5 months in advance, and through no fault of ours, our flight was delayed. We arrived 15 minutes before closing and the clerk basically told us he was closing because it was a holiday weekend!! We told him we were sorry we were late but had a car reserved. It's difficult to believe Hertz even had this car in their "fleet". It was a 2019 Van that could barely get up the mountain road and air conditioning did not work. Forget that it was filthy inside and out. We took the car and then tried, not once but 4 times to exchange it at the office in Park City where a very nice young man did all he could to help us. I do not have anything to say about a company that used to have a stellar reputation. I am incredulous at the EXTREME lack of customer service, accountability and apparent delight in shaming someone for requesting help. The representative we spoke to accused my husband of swearing at the clerk in Salt Lake City. Shame on him. Anyone who knows my husband would laugh at such an accusation. My guess is that poor example of professionalism doesn't even work for Hertz anymore, but certainly, don't look into the matter further, where a customer is concerned. I don't wish anything unkind on anyone but falsely accusing a customer of swearing at them is unconscionable. read more

Jake was the most helpful person on this planet when it came to renting out a car. He will do what it takes to make sure you get a good price on what you are renting and will walk you through everything and answer all of the questions you have. I forgot the names of every one else that works there but they are so great and helpful. Any concerns or questions in general you have, they will help you with. I hate seeing a good place have 1.5 stars but to my knowledge every one that works there took over and are new to this location. I've been a gold member for many years now and recently started using the e-return option since it's quick and efficient. BEWARE OF FALSE GAS CHARGES!!!! Both times I've done this, by the time I got to my plane the receipt has been in my inbox. And both times, I filled up before dropping off the vehicle but yet have been charged for fuel. It was just $36 on today's return and $43 a few weeks ago. Luckily, they can verify while you're on the phone and yes, these charges were reversed. But who wants to work with a company that steals your money. I'm done with e-return and maybe Hertz too. read more

They gave us a beat up dirty car, that had not been cleaned and had hanging material from the front bumper. Scratch marks all over the door handles, minimal gas in it when we picked it up and it was in desperate need of a car wash. Was told not to worry about it, they know their cars and it is already noted. Car broke down mid vacation as the scumbags never maintained the vehicle so power steering went and they basically told me I was shit out of luck. Jake told me my credit card wouldn't be accepted because it was prepaid (which it's not) and said we couldn't get a different card in time because he was locking the doors once we left (they were still open for 25 minutes). Explaining how inconvenient this was and not at all according to their policy, he said "If you want to have a problem with me personally, I get off at noon." I got in a major car accident 2 days ago and was really just looking for a rental after having a locked in reservation. Was not expecting to be threatened by an employee while I'm dealing with bruises along my head arms and legs from the accident. Don't ever rent from this place. Disingenuous toll charges. I rented a vehicle from this location and received a hefty toll bill weeks after I returned the rental. For example, for $18 of toll charges I received an extra charge of $47 in what they call a "convenience fee". Apparently they use a system called Plate Pass, which automatically bills you for the tolls and adds their extra fee. I am renting a car from you Hertz, why don't you have a Sunpass in the car already? You stand by while they charge me 3x the amount when I go through a toll, yet you don't discuss this with me when I pay you up front? You're ripping people off, my company or my employees will never use Hertz again. I hope you go bankrupt again. read more

The first guy that helped was extremely rude and told me I needed to call customer service to get it switched to the credit card I brought, so I did. Then that guy started helping someone else so I went to the other employee. He then starts telling me that what I was just told to do was wrong and you can't change your card over the phone. He then tells me to sit downs and ignores me for the next 10 minutes. He didn't even ask for my reservation number to see if the right credit card was attached. The original employee is now free and ignores me and starts helping someone else. After that he finally gets to me and everything is straightened out. But what should've been 10 minutes took an hour. The employees were extremely rude and unhelpful. I would not recommend this rental place. read more

I had to call 5 different times today prior to picking up a car because information which was given to the first person with whom I spoke this morning was not included in the rental profile. And the reason I had to call back so often??? The call center is outsourced and the "representatives" on the other end of the line could barely understand me, let alone me understand them. It got so frustrating I kept hanging up and calling back, hoping to get someone more adept. I'm still not sure I got all the issues straightened out, but I'm exhausted trying. Because my husband is a "GOLD" member at Hertz I called them when needing to book a car reservation for our vacation in September - which is 6 months away. We will be in Montana for 10 days - arriving and departing from different airports. The price for an SUV STD is $1474.00 plus .30 for mileage which will definitely add up into a lot of extra dollars! This price already includes a AAA discount. I then called National Car Rental and their price was 800.00 for the same SUV STD with UNLIMITED mileage -mthat's right -- UNLIMITED MILEAGE! We have NEVER EVER rented from National. I called Hertz and spoke with Katd, who is a supervisor to see if they could price match. She said they do not but she would see what she could do. She brought the price all the way down to $1,365.13 plus .30 per mile!!! Seriously, I guess Hertz does NOT need our business when they grossly over charge like this! I highly recommend shopping around. Hertz is NOT the way to go! I give them 1 star only because I can't post any other way. read more

My daughter and I recently moved to Florida and wanted to purchase vehicles. We bought a 2017 Hyundai that had supposedly been thru a 34 pint inspection. I drove this vehicle on the interstate at 70 mph and the car shook profusely. I took it to Hyundai to get it checked out and it was missing a part on the front to keep wind from going up under the hood. Was told that that part was no big deal that it wasn't on there by Hertz employee. Hyundai said the engine filter had not been changed and was filthy and black and full of debris. The tires were worn and according to Hyundai service dept this vehicle should not have been sold with these tires in this condition. We were told they were almost new. The tires also do not match they are 3 different brands of tires. I have called 6 times to get this resolved but the Managers have not returned my calls. I drove there only to be quickly escorted out of the building to be told that they would take care of it after presenting them with the bill from Hyundai for the filter and the list of things that need to be done to car and missing part that we were told wasn't necessary. Very disappointed in their lack of service after the sale and this vehicle has a warranty through them. read more

CUSTOMER RELATIONS REVIEW: When I returned my Hertz rental car to an unattended airport Hertz lot as instructed, the car was fine. An hour later, as I was waiting at my airline gate I was contacted by Hertz and told that the windshield was cracked. I returned to the Hertz desk and they showed me a picture of a cracked windshield, presumably of the undamaged car I had just returned. I asked to see the car itself but was told it was already gone, taken off the lot. There was no crack in the windshield when I returned the car, and it came down to my word against the counter person's. Not surprisingly Hertz customer relations told me, "Sorry," and that the matter would ot be pursued any further. DO NOT USE Hertz rent-a-car. Any savings they offer through AAA or other deals are not worth the headache of dealing with them. read more

Agents lie to your face and take it upon themselves to add car insurance to the bill, even after you explain to them that you already purchased car insurance via carRentals.com. After I complained to the main costumer service site, they would only reimburse 30% of the total charges. What happened to customers are always right? Hertz picked me up at my local hotel in the vehicle I was renting. All we had to do was trade seats. Most cars rented now are good and this one was too. Clean as a whistle, full tank of gas. What a nightmare! The customer service of this company is prehistoric! They decided to rent Uber ready cars....ready from a junk yard. It was a tough find to get a decent one and then after sinking a ton of cash. There was an issue of a late fee for which the manager was off the mark on...customer service spun me around for hours and days as they keep giving me answers that it takes time to work on the issue and someone should be getting in touch with you etc..After hours more they said only the branch manager can help...well that was talking to frosty the snowman...so off to small claims court. On top of all of this...yo yo hertz doesn't communicate between themselves because after being wrongly accused of having the car after returning it days earlier they sent a pi repo person to my family house asking everyone where is the car! Then someone called from Hertz main office a few days after that asking me where the car is and i told them it was returned over a week ago!! I filed a complaint with the government as in addition to everything else i believe they violated the fair collections laws. If you want rent an uber please use enterprise uber.. I have done both and yes you pay a few bucks more but at least you dont have to deal Hurts rent a car. read more
