I tried to resolve my issue with Hertz with the below message. I would not use this company for anything! Reference Case #11124604 I am writing to inquire into the status of this reference case. The practices exhibited by Hertz on these two transactions are not professional and should not be allowed. My story started with Rental #104320860. This was picked up on June 21 at 9:03 AM in the Gladstone HLE location. The car was a Nissan Rogue 2018. The estimated charge was to be $484.46 for a rental through June 28 at 9:00 AM returned to the same location. On June 25, the car blew a tire in Tucson, Arizona. I called the emergency roadside assistance from Hertz and proceeded to sit on hold for 90+ minutes. During that time I googled how to change the time, mostly finding the jack, and changed the tire. I also call Hertz on another line to ensure you had a comparable car at the airport location so I could being the car there to continue my trip. At this point, note that I was on the side of a highway in 110 degree temps with my wife, and two small children in the car. Luckily I had enough gas to keep the car running to keep them cool. Once I got to the Tucson Airport Hertz location, I pulled in and let them know of the flat and the change of tire. They noted it and sent me to the counter. I went in there and they provided me a comparable car. They indicated to make this work they needed to close the first contract and open a new contract for the new car. Not knowing any better I was fine with what ever they needed to do to provide me a working vehicle. This is where the deceptive practices really ramped up, it was bad enough that you don't staff your emergency roadside number enough to take a call in a reasonable period, but at the same time your reservation line picks up immediately. However, you must incent your agents to screw over the customers. So remember, the first contract was estimated at $484.46 for seven days, costing me $69.21 per day. That contract was closed early, as 'required' by your company to get me a working vehicle to finish my trip. This changed the actual cost of the contract to $569.78 for four days, costing me $142.45 per day. The second contract was then executed for three days at an estimated charge of $554.21 costing me $184.74 per day. So the total cost of the seven days of rental went from $484.46 to $1,123.99, thus an increase of $639.53 and the added stress of not being able to get roadside assistance. Closing this out I go to your customer service/billing department to help me resolve this to get it back to the agreed upon price, they proceed to tell me that I shouldn't have done a different contract, should have just changed the car out. Since I did that they couldn't do anything for me and had to route it to customer relations at corporate that has no phone number just an email address. I am looking for the status of this, and if this is not being resolved I would like to know the address that I can provide a copy of my formal compliant that I will be filing with the Attorney General of Arizona, Missouri, and Florida, as well as the same compliant will be provided to the better business bureau and posted to every social media provider and rating site that is available to me. A corporation should not be allowed to treat a consumer in this way and I intend to make it my personal mission to ensure that you make this right or answer for it to all groups that I can file with to investigate you on it. read more

I needed a SUV on New Years Eve and the office was closing . They stayed open to help me and gave me a ride to my car. A phone representative adjusted my bill after to make sure I was satisfied. I will continue to use this office and I am grateful! read more

If I could give no stars I would.....they charged me for an upgrade that I did not ask for or approve. When I asked that the upcharge be removed I got pushback. There were very few cars available when I went to pick up my reservation and I took what they gave me. I am a corporate customer and should have been given the benefit of the doubt. If they are concerned at all with customer service, Edward, needs additional training. This is why I rent from Enterprize and suggest you do too....not worth the hassle. I am a gold member for many years. Renting all around the world and the USA. just return my car in Rome after 3 days business trip. After returning the car that was checked by Hertz agent next to me and after being confirmed that everything is fine and that the tank is full (and receiving a copy of the original contract amount charge), I received (30 minutes later) an email claiming that there is a damage at the back trunk and that something is missing. The agent open the trunk next to me and did not say a thing! He confirmed that everything is fine! My advise, stop renting Hertz global. I reviewed other customers review at this location and many complain about the same thing. If a company can not protect their customers against such a scam by their Italian operation how can they protect us anywhere. I am going to cancel my Gold plus membership if this is not correct (and will never rent Hertz again in Italy no matter what). Be careful!!! read more

I was treated very poorly at the Savannah, Ga location on Abercorn. The Assistant Branch Manager Kevin was very unprofessional. My car wasn't ready. He never offered me another rental. My car was out being serviced at Firestone for an oil change my reservation was for 11 a.m. The car wasn't ready until after two. My husband and I were suppose to be in Myrtle Beach at 3 p.m. We didn't get there until about 8 o'clock on March 5th 2018 (no thanks to Hertz). We never got the rental. This was the worse experience ever!!! read more

1) Land in Houston and straight to the emergency room from the airport on 22 Dec. 2) Rented vehicle from HERTZ on 23 Dec. 3) Wife released from hospital on 24 Dec. 4) Contacted HERTZ 26 Dec for the initial request to modify rental agreement. 5) Take wife back to hospital on 26 Dec at 11pm. Her ankles, feet, and left hand became extremely swollen and painful because her medical condition diminished her protein level. 6) Wife released from hospital because swelling was going down. 7) Reached out to Enterprise and rented a vehicle for a little over $1000. 8) Allowing the swelling to completely go away before we traveled back to Ca. 9) Contacted HERTZ on 2 Jan to see if they would be willing to modify the contract since the contract was up on 3 Jan and they were, but they wanted to charge me $2000. According to the customer service rep, she said since I had the van from 23 Jan and I needed it until 6 Jan, the price was $2000. I immediately told her that the van was already paid for until 3 Jan. She then said it was the price from 3 Jan until 6 Jan. I knew they were charging me too much since I already called Enterprise. I just wanted to make it as convenient for me as much as possible by not having to take a van back and having to turn around and rent another van. The only thing this did for me was validate to never rent from HERTZ ever again. The only person that seemed like he wanted to help was Ryan, and I truly appreciate his effort, but this was above his pay grade. read more

If I could give a zero to Hertz corporate policy and customer service, I would. I booked a Hertz rental on a corporate account and had the MOST AWFUL experience with them. Would never book with them again, and would not recommend them to anyone. read more

I too want to give this company NO stars. My granddaughter and friends arrived from their native Sweden. Prepaid rental for pick up in Orlando. The hassle upon returning the car in Ft Myers was inexcusable. Over 1 hour and 45 minutes of questioning over why the Orlando base did what they did. THEN although Orlando had promised a credit card or cash refund on the $300 additional "deposit" they charged at the pick-up, Ft Myers refused to honor that and insisted upon Mailing a check - and no one understands exactly why they are not refunding the full $300. Not only does Hertz look bad - so does our country by giving such a bad impression of a rip-off or POOR BUSINESS PRACTICE at the very least. I went in with the girls at the end and can verify what happened. No apology, no remuneration for time wasted - nothing. No More Hertz either! read more

Wow. Please don't ever rent a car from this company. Last time I rented a car it was through Avis, and was an easy and enjoyable experience. This time? Rented a car in Florida for 2 1/2 days. Returned car in Florida. Total charged to my credit card? Almost $1,000. The actual cost of the rental (which they don't tell you when you book is NOT the price given, as then there is mandatory insurance at the very least, as well as gas costs, and none of those are included) for my vehicle was 351.98. However, there are currently $400 in "holds" on the credit card, as well as a previous charge that was never removed of $200-something. Oh, and that $351.98 total? It was entered as $352. And the reason I was given on the phone? "We just round up." DO YOU? I know its two pennies and that's not at all the issue. The issue is you feeling entitled to those two extra pennies, especially when you're holding almost $650 of my money that doesn't belong to you. When I'll get it back? Well we don't know, because customer service is closed on the weekends (who rents a car on weekends, right?!). So at this point I'm wondering, should I charge Hertz interest? I'm thinking yes. You should be ashamed of yourselves. Because this is not a good, or even a mediocre, or even an "at least ethical even though it sucks" business. I will NEVER rent a car from Hertz again, and rest assured, I will tell everyone I know about my horrible experience. Oh and trust me, your phone will be ringing off the hook on Monday for me to get the money you OWE me back. read more

Bravo to the employees of Hertz who have found an industry where they can ignore customer concerns! I should have taken it as a bad sign when we were at the rental car counters in the Punta Gorda Airport, and the other companies had lines and Hertz didn't. Upon returning the car on 4/23, I was juggling two babies, a 12 year old, two suitcases, two car seats, two diaper bags and a stroller and I left my phone in the rental car. I realized it when we arrived in the plane. My husband placed a message on my phone to call his number when found. Upon arriving home, he had a voice message from Vanessa at Hertz and she had my phone! She called his phone from my phone to leave the message. We tried calling all day on Sunday to reach someone with no answer. My husband was able to reach Vanessa on Monday morning and she gave us an email address to email a Fedex label and the phone would arrive back to me on Wednesday 4/27. Vanessa contacted him back. Oops! She gave the wrong email address. We bought a second label and sent it to the correct email address. On Wednesday our label hadn't even shown as printed yet. We were told the label wasn't for enough money. We purchased a third label and sent it on Wednesday for my phone to arrive on Friday 4/29. On Friday, I received a phone. It wasn't mine. We contacted the owner of that phone and sent him his phone, hoping that he would receive ours. My husband called Vanessa who said that she sent us the only phone they had. Clearly a lie since she called his phone from my phone on the 23rd! She directed us to her manager, Gary. My husband emailed him. We have had no reply. We have attempted to call there on several occasions between 4/29 and today, 5/13 with no answer. I called customer service on 5/2. They said we would have to do a lost item claim, which I did. On 5/3, I called about the lost item claim and was told that the lost item claim department doesn't handle that location. I called customer service and they said they will have the manager call me. I called on 5/4. I finally reached William, after being disconnected multiple times, who was the first person to apologize for our troubles. He completed a form that goes to a special department that handles concerns. He said I would hear from them in 5-7 days. It's been 9 days with no word. I called again yesterday, and they said they would have the store manager call me. My husband and I have both sent emails to several email addresses over the almost three weeks this has been going on with nothing other than an automated response that it was received. I have waited for nearly three weeks for someone within this organization to do the right thing. Fortunately, Verizon was kind enough to provide me a flip phone in the interim. I was told by one employee that they are not responsible for lost or stolen items. Well the thing is, it wasn't lost, because the Hertz employee confirmed she had it. I do consider it stolen at this point, but it's been stolen by Hertz staff. Apparently theft by their employees is not a concern either. On top of all of that, I have also been waiting for a $100 credit that is owed on the car I rented on 4/19! It is 5/13! I have spent hours trying to reach anyone who can help try and resolve this issue. I would not recommend Hertz to anyone. I will tell every person who ever tells me a about renting a car this story. I am appalled that any company today can be so evasive about dealing with customer concerns. read more

This goes to the Hertz Corporate Office & Headquarters. I called the 888-222-5300 number and I talked with a lady and I was so annoyed with her. All I wanted to do is get a quote. She gave me a qoute and she asked me if I wanted to reserve a reservation. I told her no about seven times and that I would have to think about it. She didn't take no for a answer. Customer service is paying attention to the customer so that the customer does not need to repeat him/herself. To me this is not professional service. I had to hang up from her because she was persistent and I did't want to say no a eighth time. No means no. I have been a manager for over 35 years. Good customer service is a disappearing art form in todays world. Good customer service to me is when you treat the customer like a king or a queen with respect. Good customer service translates into repeat business, an increased bottom line, and your economic survival and that just makes good business sense even on bad days! read more
