Don't understand how a company is allowed to charge your card in advance - not a simple hold for a reserved car. To then not have any. Certain other company's will at least make sure to transport a vehicle to a location considering they have multiple locations not the far away. Poor customer service. Now having to wait 7-10 days to see a refund. Even have to argue to remove the insurance charge since it was not even a rental at this point. Horrible company ethics. There are others you can go to in the area. Stay away. read more

Long story short.... The van had broken glass everywhere in the back of the cargo van and I stepped on it. The van wouldn't fire up so we were stranded for 5 hours. In those 5 hours we were on hold the majority of the time and hung up on before we could talk to anyone. We missed out first flight even though we were guaranteed less when there were no Lyft drivers in our area and now looks like we're going to miss our 2nd flight....... Why they couldn't just have someone drive us out a car???? Beats me. There was one lady that 3 way called with me to 3 different Hertz rental cars but not one was answering (they were open just helping other people). Thanks to Ivy Marie for the help. Yesterday i was in Jacksonville getting some food for the family when my Denali started to act up due to the fuel pump i replaced that is not getting proper gauge reading, so i coast into the entrance of hertz walked over to see if i can get some help all i needed was a bit of gas to make it to the nearest gas station to get this Denali running, tank was at half but was not reading as so acted as if it was empty. Well i want to thank the outstanding workshop employees that provided me with a jug of gas so i could use some just to get me to the nearest gas station down the street. Hertz has an outstanding team they gladly helped and i was able to put gas in the Denali to get back home to hubert. Now to drop the tank and install an OEM fuel pump to get this baby running right. I have rented from Hertz (OAJ Airport) on many occasions. I have never received anything but professional service until my last rental. Hertz has a machine that scans your driver's license before you rent vehicles. Why did my license not scan correctly is a mystery. I was handed back my license and told, "you can't rent a vehicle." I asked, "what's the problem?" she said, "she didn't know but I was not allowed to rent a vehicle because she got a brown smiley face instead of a green smiley face on the scanner." Standing there now with no rental car, I asked for a manager. She made a call to the Eastern Carolina, Director of Operations, Kathy (wouldn't give last name). She stated, "I can't give you an explanation because I'm not there and it could just be a computer glitch, however, I can't help you." I have never been turned down for business like that and made to feel it was my fault. I hope this reaches another military veteran who is hoping to get home that night to not rent from Hertz, Dollar or Thrifty. i called the NC Driver License agency and my license was active with no points or issues on my record. J4380882704 that was the confirmation number I had to the reservation which the manager there told me they don't do. HERTZ don't do reservations. Flat out told me customers really can't reserve a vehicle. I asked... then what was it I filled out online to get the number to reserve a vehicle. She told me a picture and nothing more. That my reservation was a shame. Told me this 30 mins before they closed on Friday days after i made the reservation which means i spent 30 mins failing to try to get a new vehicle somewhere else before everyone closed for the weekend screwing me out of getting on. Hertz will screw you without lube. don't get screwed just go elsewhere. This was for my business to which really hurt me because i have to leave Monday but cant now. The only reason I gave them a star is because zero stars wasn't an option. Reserved a car weeks in advance and even called and talked to representative, and at no point in time did they tell me that I had to have a credit card as opposed to a debit card. I went in on carefully plotted timeline with the expectation that they were going to honor my reservation, but they refused to let me rent a car. I explained to them that I was military and on leave and my leave plan had revolved around renting this car and that also no one had told me that I had to have a credit card. I tried to come up with solutions because they were obviously not interested in coming up with solutions themselves, and with every solution I tried to come up with they completely refused to work with me after neglecting to give me all the information beforehand. When dealing with this agency, I was given the impression that they did not want to do business at all and they're customers don't matter to them. read more
