I was very disappointed with this location; had an online reservation, when I arrived to pick up the car , the individual told me that there were no cars available and I had to upgrade to an SVu for an extra $15 daily. Why to they engage in bait and switch ? Then upon arrival I was told I had to have a $200 hold on a credit card. With a confirmed reservation. I know everything is subject to availability but I selected my vehicle in advance , isn't it their responsibility to have that. Shocked or one close to it available for me. They just ruined my day. Went to visit family in Texas. Rented a car from Hertz. My experience was by far the best. I can honestly say that I have always had exceptional service with Hertz. John was at the counter and got me set up. He was very nice and really helped to make my experience an easy and stress free event. The rental I got was very nice and was convenient in what I needed. I really like that backup camera and was able to hook my phone up for directions and hand free calls. I will rent here at the Baytown Hertz again for sure. Location is convenient. I called and made reservations for a rental. All good and dandy. On the day of pickup, I decided to call to see if my rental was ready and available. After an annoying automated phone screening, it's ringing, and nobody answers. I tried like 6 times and nothing. So I drive up there. One guy. Anyway,he has several cars available for me right now. Mind I was scheduled for pickup at 5 it's around 3:45 at this moment and I leave dark 30 in the morning. So we proceed with the paperwork, and he mentioned a " soft credit check " ?????.. Kinda like a background check on your credit but doesn't deduct points and it's company policy. I said sure to keep the ball rolling, I got things to do. REJECTED, DENIED !!! Sorry sir we can't rent a vehicle using a debit card but if you have a credit card, we can move forward and we don't accept cash. I can not express how livid I was. He said it's in the small print on the website when you made your reservation. I said I called and made my reservation, and none of this was mentioned. So now what ???? It's 4:30 and most rental car places close at 5:30. Thank goodness Enterprise was right down the road and I paid a little more but I got my damn rental in time. I went to get the car and the clerk asked which car I wanted. then the next day I bring the car back because it kept cutting off. then the clerk tells me I can replace the car because they all have issues. Renter Beware!!! My son reserved a Ford Transit in April for the dates of 6/24-7/15 for 914 dollars. Great deal right, NO!!! He even received a confirmation today at 10 am for the car. At 12 pm, they called him back and said they would have to cancel but he could upgrade to another type of car for 2800. This kid is a teacher. He doesn't have 2800 dollars to rent a car. This is the best. They said they would refund him in 7-10 business days for a car he was supposed to pick up tomorrow. He was upset and also called corporate. They will not do anything even take some money off the new rental. They even put him on the not allowed to rent list. That is rich. Who would even rent from them? One star is one too many! The employee who didn't give his name sat behind the counter with food and drink cups(trash) sitting all around his work area. As soon as we walked in, he announced he didn't have any cars. I said I have a reservation. He repeated he didn't have any cars. I looked up my reservation which I prepaid for and the date had changed. I know for certain I input the correct date as we were picking it up the next morning. I was able to get it cancelled. Waiting for a refund minus $50 cancellation fee which I will call corporate to get refunded. I'd highly recommend you don or use this location! Very unprofessional and seems like a scam. I went down the road to Enterprise and was able to get the rental I needed without any issues and enjoyed perfect customer service. The staff is very Rude and Uncaring to help. They had my last name incorrect and the representative got upset with me when the Adjuster brought this to my attention and actually took the car I had rented and I had to call my friend for a ride. One star because zero or negative stars are not options. We reserved a car online, and when we arrived at this location the car was not available. The lady on duty (Dolores or Michelle, depending on who she was talking to on the phone) was extremely hostile when we tried to get the money we spent on the car she didn't have back on my husband's bank card. She refused to do a refund and told us to wait for it to happen. Our trust level with Hertz Car Rental is somewhere near -15 on a scale from 1 - 10, so I don't see that happening. I will call their customer service line tomorrow since they are closed today. I don't see what the point of outsourcing American customer service call center jobs overseas is, if you aren't going to thoroughly exploit the cheap labor pool by having them to man the lines 24/7/365. We never would have tried Hertz if Enterprise had anything available, the recent floods have been keeping them busy. read more

After being put into a mid-size vehicle over at the Channelview location I was told I would be able to exchange it for a full size vehicle at this location. I gave them a second star only because they waited a few minutes after closing time for me due to all the trouble I had with the original vehicle I rented. Again, the vehicle they gave me was dirty. Let's hope it doesn't have any of the other issues I dealt with in the original rental. read more

The worst Hertz station I have ever seen. I had a reservation for a full size car. They offered me a downgrade for the same price (Corolla instead of Camry) while there were higher vehicles available (SUV) for a higher rate. That is ridiculously customer unfriendly. Complaining about that doesn't help. The girl at the counter keeps talking like a 1990's audio tape player...... Terrible service! Plus all cars were not washed. So I had to wait another 15 min to get my for-free-downgrade washed. This was not the first this happened to me at this station. Always when I approach the station it's good to see various cars at the parking, sad to learn that all these need to be repaired. Guys, we all know that Hertz has a terrible service, especially at the franchise stations "local edition". But this is honestly the worst I have ever seen. I had an insurance claim and had to rent a car while mine was in the shop. Went through Hertz in Baytown and was very disappointed. I received a call stating they received my reservation from my insurance company and that I needed to call my local store (Liberty) to finalize everything. I called my local store and it routed the call to Baytown. I was I informed that the Liberty was closed until the new year(it's a satellite location) but that they could help me. The guy I spoke with told me "I have a customer with me, I'll call you back". He was about to hang up until I asked him to take my name and phone number back. He never called me back so a few hours later I called again and spoke with the same guy. He asked me my name and who my insurance company is so he could look up my reservation and he would call me back... Big surprise... He never called me back. So the next day I called again and spoke with a lady and I told her the issue I had the day before and she took my information down and told me "I'm going to call you back, if you don't hear back from me call by 10, you call me"... Seriously? So she called a few minutes after 10 and told me they would have my reservation ready the day I was to drop my car off but I would have to drive to Baytown but I'd have to be there by 5... With my work schedule that was impossible so she told me she would have to try and work something out to have something for me in Liberty. She called me back and promised me they would have something ready in Liberty for me. I had to tell them what kind of vehicle I wanted. No one ever asked me. The day I'm dropping off my car and I go to the location in Liberty and I get there and they have no idea I was coming and have nothing ready for me. So they call the Baytown location and the Baytown location says they don't have anything for me... UGH. The Baytown location looks up my information and calls me and says that they don't even have cars available for me to come to Baytown and pick up. But they can come to my house and pick me up the next day. I told them no, that I would figure out a way to get there. He told me they open at 8 and I could come in anytime and get a car. So I confirm the times they're open and he goes: "Oh no, wait. Tomorrow is Saturday, we're open only from 9-12" So I go the next day and they apologize and stop again they had no idea I was supposed to have a rental waiting in Liberty for me but when I went to the restroom, there's a white board in the hall with all my information on and the date I needed my rental... I've asked to speak with managers on multiple occasions and just get told there's no managers there. Long story short - I will NEVER be renting with Hertz again. Save your time! read more

This last rental was the 3rd rental in the past 3 months and each time the service has got worse. This last time I requested a bigger vehicle for over a month and they said they could find one! when it was time to pick up a prepaid vehicle that I had reserved 2 months in advance it was not ready. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER. Made and online reservation and my card was charged in full. Went to pick up the car and the representative came to the door and told me they had no cars. I explained that my card was charged in full for the car and he got very rude and closed the door and locked it. The least he could of done was to refunded the money back to my credit card. Bad, bad, BAD! I reserved and paid for a minivan seven weeks before the rental date, but when I went to pick it up, they shrugged their shoulders and said they didn't have one available. I had to take a lower class of vehicle (SUV), but still had to pay the same price. In fact, they tried to convince me I was lucky not to be charged extra! And the car I ended up with was filthy; apparently, they hadn't had time to clean it since it was returned a couple of days ago. When asked for my credit card I queried what they were charging to it, and was told it was just a refundable deposit. Later discovered they'd sneakily charged additional costs. When queried, it was "Tough! Take it up with head office if you've got a problem." These people are badly managed, badly organized, have zero customer service skills and lie through their teeth. I eventually managed to get my money back, but only after writing several letters of complaint to head office. Avoid this Hertz branch like the plague! read more

First time using Hertz and will be the last time. Booked economy car online and also called half hour before pickup to confirm the reservation. When we got there the only car available was an upgrade for an additional $10 a day; an economy car was more than an hour away. I declined and said I would go elsewhere. At that point, they offered the 'upgrade' (I don't believe it was an upgrade) for no additional charge. The 'upgrade' had not been cleaned and the display indicated the car needed maintenance. When I questioned the condition of the car the customer service agent rudely asked what I expected with a free upgrade. Let me just start off by saying very disappointed, I had a standard car reserved and when arriving they did not have one so I put into a compact car. The car seats were stained, there was trash in the trunk, there was an odd odor that even febreese couldn't even mask. I was told my insurance would not cover incidentals, so I purchased their insurance and later found out my insurance would cover it and they would not credit my account which they charged three days prior to me returning the rental. This was not my choice of rentals due to an accident, I will never rent there again I will stick to enterprise. read more
