She went above and beyond by giving me great advice on which areas are safe, where to eat, and where to have a good time during my stay. I was able to share some advice and experiences, and it truly felt like talking to a friend, not just a rental agent. Erin was my return agent, and she made that process just as smooth. Going on a road trip, I needed a car bc I did 't want to use my own due to the wear and tear. I've been renting from Alamo for years, but the last few times (May, Aug, Oct) were the worst. Barely any cars on the lot. I did the Skip the Counter, which I normally do, but couldn't the last 2 times because there were NO vehicles (I'm not exaggerating) to choose from and I was forced to go to the counter. Relayed my request for the type of vehicle and then waited, waited, waited, and waited as they tried to hand me a minivan or large suv. There were reasons why I reserved the vehicle I did. I specially ordered and paid for a crossover suv and that's what I would have expected to be ready for me at 11:30am (reserved pickup time). But nope. It was frustrating to say the least. I came here during my lunch hour so that I could pick up the car and head back to work for a meeting. 1.5hrs later I was finally given the type of vehicle I reserved after they had to get it from some other lot. I was observing this entire communication between the employees, and they really need some sort of headset and tablet to keep track of who needs what etc. It just seemed like chaos. If they did have them then they weren't using them efficiently. The employees were nice, but that still wasn't enough for me to crank up their star value. The long wait and lack of vehicles really irritated me. It will definitely make me question whether or not I will use them again in the future. read more

Conveniently located on the outskirts of HOU airport, and there is a shuttle from the airport terminal with friendly drivers. I rented a Toyota Rav 4 from Tues Afternoon thru Friday afternoon through Costco for about $196. I arrived and they insisted on the $6.99 per day insurance / road hazard coverage. They did not have the RAV 4 so they gave me a VW Atlas, large SUV, considered premium, instead. It got only about 20 mpg but it was nice, fully loaded, plenty of safety features and fun tech toys. I needed to extend for 1 day, called Costco, they said had to either call Alamo direct or bring car back and re-book 1 day through Costco. did not want the hassle to drop, re-book, and pick up a different car. So I just called Alamo and the rep said $75 for 1 day. He would not budge and said the rates vary every day and could be as much as $150 per day so $75 was a good deal. Kind of a rip considering I did not ask for the premium car and they did not have the Rav 4 for me. $75 for 1 day seemed excessive. I also returned it a little early but they would not give any credit. The staff was friendly and they did give you 1 free bottle of water, nice considering it was about 99 degrees with 85% humidity. They are not super fast and can barely handle more than 2 customers at a time. The shuttle drivers were super nice, friendly, helpful, and waited for us to finish our transaction. read more

The clerk lied about being able to use a debit card to rent a car, she told me that I would have to leave 1200.00 deposit on a 98.00 car rental and I am a rewards member. She then lied and said that I couldn't use my debit card even though I was on a round trip ticket. I had to call the customer service to turn her in and they told me the district manager would call and that never happened. I had to go all the way to another location to pick up a rental car. Hobby airport use to be great. I had an incident where Sadie and another lady I won't mention her name because this was above her. They over charged me my bill was $400 they charged me $600 I asked them about that they said they will fix it. I came back Rented a car and Sadie stated that she would fix it when I come back and she also adjusted my rental car due to some new rule and charged me again $655 which my original was only $300 some odd dollars and when she combined them she over charged me and never fixed it and said she will be there when I returned the car and never was to fix it and I had to catch my flight A STRAIGHT SCAM! FRAUD ACTIVITY. And I gave them both tips secretly and they act like something was wrong with the car to be able to make the adjustments maybe to save them idk but I haven't received my money OFF the difference MIND YOU I HAVE A CHILD SO NOW THEY ARE MESSING WITH HER AND I DONT PLAY ABOUT THAT BUT THAT AINT IT! I come back to talk to them about it and they called Keegan the NEW sup because he was never there when I came MIND YOU I got pulled over in their car the cops said their car was not registered and when I had all the paper work for the car. Keegan said they pulled over a black couple before and took that man to jail because his seat was sitting back and the cops thought it was suspicious. My child was slp and the seat was back so I guess they thought it was another black man to take to jail. According to Keegan! The SUPERVISOR OVER THE STATION! He never did anything about it! Came back let me go back to the story. I'm there asking where is my money from last time. I called so many times to there, text, called into the 800 number several times which is all documented and no response no call to make sure I was ok no follow up or anything and mind you IVE BEEN FOLLOWING UP SINCE FEBRUARY! I was racially profiled, pulled over because of their car, had anxiety from the whole situation, they had guns, my daughter was scared, we were both shaken up. I called Alamo while in the traffic stop so they can hear so THEY HAVE THE RECORDING WHICH IM GOING TO HAVE MY LAWYER PULL and they never once called to check on me and their cars flaws and being harassed by the cops when I did nothing wrong! I am filing a case against them with my lawyer because nothing had been done and they don't care. 14yrs with Alamo and this is how they treat their loyal customers! Never again! I'll see you all in court!! This IS FRAUD! They don't deserve not one star! Keegan should not hold the position he is in or need to be retrained because he LACKS PROFESSIONALISM! When we went to drop it off early morning they were closed and there were no options for after hours dropoff. If I could give this company and location a negative 5 stars, it still would not represent my frustration. I will also say that I have been an Alamo Insider for a number of years. I knew that my family would be flying into Syracuse on December 25 so I made a reservation for a AWD Tahoe in August. Not knowing how the weather would be and also being from Houston, I wanted a vehicle that was: 1) Large enough for my entire family (7) and also 2) Capable of ease of driving in wintry weather. Not once did I receive any notice of problems at the rental location. In fact, I reconfirmed my reservation on December 23, just to make sure we were OK. So we get to the airport counter and were told that they did not have the vehicle that we reserved. In fact, Alamo did not have anything large enough for us at all. It did not seem to bother them at all. In fact I had to keep insisting that we needed a vehicle large enough. After checking with the other affiliates (National and Enterprise), they finally found a van that with our luggage we had to squeeze uncomfortable into. This vehicle was: 1) Nasty - don't know when it had been cleaned, 2) Smelly (we had to purchase a freshener the same day as my wife was chocking on the cigarette smell), 3) Was over 20,000 miles past the maintenance date on the window sticker, and 4) Did not have a full tank of gas. I have tried and tried to get Alamo to contact me to discuss this situation (filled out their survey - gave them 1 star on all categories and left my contact information with a request to contact me in the survey.) I also went on-line and asked the chat person (not a bot) to have someone call. I have not even had any attempt for them to contact them. I feel like I had the proverbial bait and switch and I feel they should at least make an attempt to deal with this. I influence a lot of my co-workers in their travel for our company and I have passed this experience along and I know that we will never use Alamo again until this issue is resolved. read more

Omar quickly went to work, he walked the entire yard and compared different models. He even called enterprise to see if they had something but we lucked out and found a Yukon XL. Seeing as it was last minute I still was able to get this manager special for 4 days for a new dropping $65! Picking up the car was a headache. The navigation of where to go can be confusing because you can clearly see the businesses sign but it's like ayos mios where do I enter! Luckily I was able to check in, pick my own car, and ride out . I liked that option instead of them picking the car for me. Returning it did take a tad bit longer but it was the fourth of july weekend so I didn't worry. This experience was such a joyful one. We had a one day rental that was originally estimated at ~$15. We ended up being charged almost $800 for a ONE DAY rental. I decided to rent a car for my two days in Houston and found a good deal for about $19/day for a midsize car. I got to the location after a quick shuttle from the airport. The employee was exceptionally friendly and offered me a bottle of water as well. It was raining pretty heavily so the employee pulled the car up for me. The car was a Nissan Sentra which was smooth and well taken care of. No issues with the vehicle during my trip. I returned the car and everyone was very welcoming. No complaints. I think what makes car rental businesses a non-5 star company is that there are so many excess charges that drive up what would be the $19/day rate. My total ended up being $88 and that included pre-pay gas. It was a good experience so no complaints just need the rates to stay consistent with what's advertised. read more

Alamo Houston hobby, when you fly in at 3:00 am don't expect the airport terminal Alamo booths to open at 5am as everyone you call tells you, they don't open any of the Rental car booths, the phone reservation phone number to call say the hours are 5am to 1159 pm and they'll tell you the airport booths open at 5 AM this is also false they don't ever open, shuttles don't start running till 7:30 AM so be aware of that, If you fly in before 7:30 AM you will need to go to the offsite Alamo rent a car to pick up your vehicle we had to take Uber And they were open at 0500. read more

Then five months later I get a $156 fee - no one can tell me what it was, transferred by phone multiple times....then they say I kept the car an extra day because apparently I turned the car in a couple of hours after the time I picked up. Well, this place was going to get a better review from me. However, they literally will not help you if you leave or forget something in their vehicle. My husband and I had an early Sunday morning flight, and he accidentally left his hat in the floorboard. He realized maybe 15 minutes after we dropped it off and had just passed through security. His attempts to call were futile--this could have been handled pretty simply--put the hat on the shuttle bus & hubby comes out to get it as they are dropping people off--and everyone is happy. Yet, there is NO direct number for the rental agency. You must call some generic number and even then they refuse to transfer you to that specific location. The most they do is transfer you to a "lost & found" number. And what do they tell my husband?? That it depends on the honesty of the person working if your item shows up on their "lost & found" website. Well, obviously this location has some not so trustworthy people cleaning out the cars because no such item has been found. And unfortunately for him, the hat had sentimental value & cannot be replaced. I am truly disappointed in the lack of customer service through Alamo. I'm thinking it might be worth a few extra dollars to rent from a competitor. Otherwise, if you are the type of person to never, ever leave anything, than maybe this is the place for you. He was detailed and explained features of each vehicle available. Then Kai proceeded to walk to the line where I was welcomed by Arnesta and Teresa. Arnesta was a delight to work with. Was headed to the Houston Area because my daughter (who lives out there) was getting married and I decided to pick up a rental for the week. After checking out online prices, I went to my Costco Travel and see what they had to offer and I found a great deal for the week with Alamo for a standard car with unlimited miles so I booked it according to the time my flight was to arrive and depart. Arrived at Hobby 40 minutes late (bad weather) and was worried about my reservation because by the time I got from the shuttle to Alamo car rental it was almost 50 minutes past pick up time, but the agents at the desk didn't even mind and said these things happen. Gave them a few pieces of my information, had to initial some papers and was given my choice of cars to pick from. I went with the Kia Soul, put my bags in and off I went! I went all over in that Soul, it had great gas mileage and roomy, had 4 adults & one car seat in car and never felt squished! It was time to head home and returning the car was just as easy as picking it up! Great customer service both at arrival and departure, didn't have to wait more than 3 minutes for a shuttle to leave the airport & to get back from the Alamo rental. Everything went smoothly! Also, the vehicle was due an oil change when we picked it up. Seat belt on drivers side was defective and would not snap. When attempting to discuss these issues with Chris, she was a bitch and offered us $64 for $530 worth of new tires. Did I mention the vehicle required specialty tires. It was only a Chevy Malibu people. DO NOT GO HERE! When we told Chris we would be escalating her decision, she said we would never be able to rent from Alamo again. Who in hell would want to! (I book car 3 weeks in advanced.) Again, I experienced friendly efficient staff. I had a quick friendly conversation with the clerk about my trip and he offered upgrades without being pushy. I was lucky to get a Toyota Camry 2015 Sport Edition. He (clerk) even set the Eco drive mode for me since he knew I was planning on a long drive. I returned car early and received a refund. What an easy and breezy experience! I booked my rental an hour before picking it up through Priceline's NYOP tool and was able to secure a full size car (2015 Hyundai Sonata, great drive btw, if not a little dull) for about $10/day including tax! I believe they moved locations across the street from where they used to be, not 100% on that though. The new location is expansive and nice and the waiting lobby has multiple counters with reps waiting to help you. Not exactly sure why people complain about rental cars. Sure there is price gouging during the holidays and peak seasons, but we live in America and where there is an opportunity for businesses to bank, they will. In any case, when I arrived I was assisted by two very friendly associates, Joaquin and Alexis, I believe those were their names, who got me in and out of the building FAST. I am talking 9 minutes from walking through their front door to driving off the lot in the car. That is pretty impressive. Even though the car was clean and I was there for only 9 minutes, they were able to wash it for me again and brought out a sparkly new rental ride. The drop off was even more simple. Pull in through the gates, into the appropriate aisle that they direct you to, step out with the keys, let them do their quick run through of the car, and a minute later you are walking out with your receipt. Now, if you show up with a car that has less gas than you were given or has damage that you caused and you have to pay up, then suck it up and pay up. You signed a rental agreement stipulating your obligations, so take care of them. Renting care should be an easy and smooth process and this Alamo location restored some of my lost faith. Usually this is my preferred rental agency, I rent 3-4 times a year. However,due to a flight delay I arrived at 11 pm. Staff at counter was very helpful & gave me a free upgrade because the car there was a car available sitting right next to the door and staff said, "Just take that one so we don't have to drive it back". It was late and I was exhausted, and the car looked fine on the outside. It was not until the morning that I noticed the seats were stained. The front was not too bad. The backseat was especially gross! Thankfully, there was no one else traveling with me and I was not held responsible for the gross stains.
