I had a really great experience with Hertz overall. While there was a long wait on hold when I initially called in, once I got through they were very responsive. Sheldon quickly returned my call and made sure everything was handled promptly, which I really appreciated. Abu, the manager, went above and beyond to get me the exact car I was hoping for -- and even upgraded me without any additional charges. That level of customer service definitely stood out. The only small hiccup was that the drop-off location was a bit confusing at night. I may have missed the signs because it was dark, and I had to circle back around before figuring it out. I'm reviewing the one at 1405 130th Ave. The staff here, notably Abu and Keanu were as helpful as possible and saved me a whole lot of time and trouble, which would have been due to Hertz' completely irrational rental extension policy. We found trash in the car's trunk, called Hertz corporate and they didn't want to do anything about it. Here's our experience before renting the car: Waited over an hour for our car to be ready. Two people after us already got their car and we didn't get any updates. We were told there was a "small issue" with the car but that it was ready now. Wait longer and ask where the car is and are now told that they are "washing the car"? Why wasn't this done beforehand? On top of that, we were told the car had 30% charge on it so now we have to find a charging station nearby because the car wasn't available on time. They knew our appointment time. Why did it take an extra 50+ minutes to get the car ready and with little charge to it? Also, how small could this "small issue" be if it takes this long to fix? read more

We had to rent a car 2 weeks back to back. We had a horrible experience with the Budget Rent-a-Cart down the road. But we had a GREAT experience here! All because of Shelton and Dae. Both were wonderful, friendly and helpful. Shelton when above and beyond in taking care of us and getting us exactly the car we needed. My husband is 6'6" and doesn't fit comfortably in a lot of cars. Shelton personally walked us around the lot and let us try out different vehicles. He gave us top notch customer service that we truly appreciated! All the cars were clean and in great shape. We ended up renting an electric (we had no experience with any electric cars) and Shelton was so helpful in giving us tips and where we could charge it. We would definitely recommend anyone to rent from this location. read more

By far, the most ridiculous experience I've ever had at a car rental place. First, the guy went off for 15 min to "take pictures of the car". Then he brought it out and parked in a shaded area in a way that made it impossible to inspect the right side of the car - and I already saw many dings and scratches on the side I could see. His response to my request to park the car in a more accessible way was to literally tell me to "chill out". I got upset and he told me I wasn't getting the car. The manager, who refused to give me his business card (but said his name was "Julio"), sided with the guy and told me he was canceling my reservation! Worst car rental company and location ever. I had a mid size car reservation and went to pick up the car. They said the car isn't available and couldn't give it to me. Due to some technical error I was able to reserve the car they said. Then the person at the counter said they had a mini van available. I said fine honor the price you gave me and I will be happy to take it. He said he can't apply any discounts even though it was their mistake. I asked him to give it in writing that they can't offer a car. He said he can't do that either due to company policy. So Hertz's company policy is to not offer a car even with a reservation in hand, not offer discount for their mistakes nor own up to their mistakes and give it in writing so I can raise it with their complaint department. While I was there, there was another couple in the same situation. They booked Tesla and didn't get it too. I ended up having to Uber instead of getting a car from such a place that cares so less about customers. Note there are enterprise and car rental companies close by that are way better. In this case, I feel I have to provide a review as I have had the same experience at this location multiple times. It is unique to this location as I used to rent from Hertz all the time while travelling for work and pleasure. These days travel has slowed, and Uber has become my primary source of transportation. I needed a local rental a number of time over the past 6 months, and decided to rent from Hertz due to a citibank discount. Therefore if i wasnt he best rates available, its Hertz and each time it at this location it HURTS. No car, dirty car, no solution, no help, no lack of confusion, no short lines, nothing. I was told they had no car for me and offered no solution, no suggestions, not even an apology. Another time I was give a car that was just about undriveable - the steering wheel shook over 40 and under 40. The brakes were shot, it stunk like pot and cigarettes, there were actully fast food bags under the seat. After learning my lesson, I said enough was enough. I booked my next car at the Hertz Kirkland location. WOW WHAT A DIFFERENCE! The office was clean, the staff friendly and knowleadge! The car was clean, didn't stink, and was trash free! This is the second time in six months this has occurred. I was told after arrival that they did not have a car for me even though I had a reservation for more than a month I rented a very specific car for a specific job so there was no going to another location for a car and their denial was expensive for me. My frustration was that despite numerous requests there were no explanations or any follow up. I felt like I was dealing with a fly by night company instead of an established company. Had a yelp account for multiple years and never felt the need to leave a review until today. I booked a reservation for our vacation and a showed up to pick up the rental car. After waiting for 20 minutes, the worker said that despite our confirmation number they didn't have a car. Felt just like an episode of Seinfeld.. "you know how to take the reservation, you just don't know how to hold the reservation". Yelp says I'm rolling now - so yes I do have more to add. After getting a mumbled excuse from the Hertz associate staring at his computer, I asked why we didn't receive a call notifying us a car would be unavailable . We were told that they didn't have time to check the reservations. I guess they must have just realized they're fleet was fully utilized right as we arrived! As you can see from reviews prior, this seems to be a theme. The cars I did see looked sloppier than the aforementioned worker's desk, which was covered in papers printed 8 hours prior. After asking again why they didn't call, they just ignored the question. After my girlfriend walked out I gave a sarcastic "well thanks for trying to call". This gained a response, and I must admit it was nice to see some sort of animation from what I can only describe as the worst customer service representative I've had the pleasure of interacting with. I wish 0 was an option. Hertz overall was awful to work with, this location makes sure to solidify that. The electric car they gave me at 31% without asking where I was going, was incredibly frustrating to deal with to the point where it died in my garage even though I had bought an adapter to my tesla charger to charge it. My only option was to tow it but they sent a towing company with a guy who harassed me to the point where I did not feel safe going with him to get a replacement vehicle. Then after calling around to the nearest Hertz, none of them had anything available. Calling Bellevue, no one would answer. I called and called to nothing (when they were open) I called Seatac where the car was supposed to go and none of the phone options, 1, 2, 3 etc would go anywhere. I was left stranded until I finally called Enterprise who had a car for me the next day. I still needed to close out my account and get my final receipt to submit to insurance and still could not get ahold of anyone. I showed up to pick up the rental car I had reserved the day before and the attendant at the counter informed me that they unfortunately did not have any cars available. They explained that the website over reserved cars in the area and that there was absolutely nothing they could do because they did not have enough cars. I called the Hertz help line and after seeing me outside for about 20 minutes on the phone one of the attendants came out to let me know they had been able to locate a vehicle for me. I'm a firm believer that customer service goes both ways, I was obviously upset with the situation but I didn't give the attendants a hard time because it wasn't their fault. Had to rent a car out of my own pocket due to a little oopsie i had with my car. Was in the shop for about a week and a half and I needed a rental. Booked through AAA and Hertz had the best price in the area! Booked online and paid in the store when I picked it up! Got a corolla for a week and two days and called to add a day when my car was not done yet. Dropped off after they closed, put the key with some info (mileage, gas tank status, date, time, etc.) into their box and was good to go! Was emailed a receipt the following day! Convenient location close to a bunch of car body shops as well! (I walked here after dropping my car off at the shop) Overall had a great experience! No issues, car was great, and getting the car at pickup was quick and easy. Will definitely return the next time I need a rental! read more

FALSE ADVERTISING: I needed a van the next day for an impromptu day trip in Nov 2020. Since only a few local locations of various car rental agencies had any in stock - I opted to rent from this Hertz location, because they were listed having multiple vans in stock. (For less than $100+ a day). I reserved online the night before. My reservation was confirmed, by their reservation system, for 9am the next morning. When I got there - they had zero minivans. They told me I could come back three and a half hours after my reservation time, and they would transfer one from the airport, OR they would "upgrade" me to a SUV. I have a mid-size SUV - I needed the space of a VAN! (A mini-van is bigger.) I went online and found a van at Enterprise in Redmond. By going directly onto the Enterprise website, I was able to get a van for the same price. I was on the road two hours earlier than I would have been had I waited for Hertz to actually follow through on their reservation. read more

Very friendly and fast service. Amazingly fast, even when busy. The cars are always very clean and well maintained. The staff is very understanding of my allergies to perfumes. I call the morning of a afternoon pick up to ask them to hold a car that doesn't smell like perfumes. They accommodate me ever time! They also offer local pick up. We were having our car kept at the mechanics over night. They came over to pick us up. We were in and out in 5 min! Great experience when renting from here always. Does returning a car early in the morning, with a filled tank, means automatically getting an ridiculous amount of "Gas and services" charge on your bill? YES if you rent from Hertz!! The bill for our one day rental turned out to be $200, $140 was attributed to the additional "Gas and services" charge. ridiculous. I did a simple search to see if other people experienced the same problem with Hertz, apparently there are several complaints from customers that they do this to cars returned outside of business hours, even with the tank filled. Seems like you have to call them to remove this bogus charge, we did and they are currently "reviewing" it and will have the amount "readjusted". what?? why can't this be done before sending the actual bill?? why waste everyone's time to go through this after the extra amount is charged?? do they think people won't find out?? oh yeah, not to mention they also completely disregarded our request to be picked up at our residence instead of going to their lot. Under staffed. Just one guy who didn't seem to care much about people waiting in line. We waited about 30 mins to be helped, and then waited another 10 minutes when he decided to get the next person in line started off as well. This was a Friday morning. As another reviewer mentioned, the guy didn't seem to be in much of a hurry, constantly trying to making casual friendly conversation with each customer while others waited agonizingly in line. Recently had a rental car through my insurance company after my car was hit. When I received the car it was FILTHY, it was dropped at the body shop with no one to go over the vehicle with me. The body shop guy had some paper to sign that I received the car and that was it. The car smelled like smoke, was dirty and dusty, the check engine light came on at one point and the windshield wiper fluid would only work once in awhile with no rhyme or reason. I called the Bellevue location when I first received the car to report the dirtiness of the car and said I wanted to make sure I was not charged a cleaning fee, to which they said I wouldn't be. Then I called when I was having issues with the windshield wiper fluid I got no where with that call. Each time I talked to someone I was made to feel as if I was more of a bother than anything. Well today my card was charged $300 for cleaning the vehicle. I called the location and spoke to an employee as well as the manager. BOTH of them were extremely rude and the manager, Cheyenne even went to lengths of threatening to charge me more. They DO NOT CARE about customers one bit and treated me like as if I am a liar. I had no choice in using this rental company and in the future I will go without transportation before I use HERTZ again. I would steer away from this company and location as much as possible! National or Enterprise has NEVER treated me the way I've been treated by Hertz this past month. I wish I had known I needed to take pictures of the car before and after I dropped it off to prove how dirty the car was since they don't want to listen.
