Today I arrived to pick up a car at 10am. When I arrived they said they had no cars. I clarified that I had a reservation and had paid. At that time there were 3 people in front of me who were also waiting for cars. They said they cannot determine when folks will extend rental or have car accidents. They took no responsibility. At 1pm they told me sorry and call corporate. Three hours waiting. I can't get anyone in corporate. When I did they want me to get to the airport. I still do not have a car. A car reserved by my insurance and confirmed for me by Enterprise. I arrived to Enterprise next door and no cars available, no phone calls and no apologies. And was pointed to the direction of their competitor. Thank you. I walked in and Mo, the manager was so nice and really helped me out. Customer service was awesome. He was very busy and quite patient. The car smelled of cigarettes but I could never bring myself to mention because his great customer service out weighed it. And I would have not had a car. We made a reservation DAYS before our trip. On the day off, they told us we needed a credit card to reserve the SUV we needed, mind you, we had already paid with a debit card days before. They also said we won't get our money back until 7-8 days from now. NONE of this was made explicit on the website and they even said that if we had had the card, there was not guarantee to get the SUV bc we were late to pick it up. WE WERE LATE Because they wouldn't let us take the car in the first place. Please please do not give this place your business. read more

If I could give zero stars, I would! I would 100% not recommend renting from this place. They're rude on the phone and in person. You can tell when someone hates their job by how they treat customers, and at this place you can definitely tell. Not even after having my rental for a few hours, I brought it back to be exchanged because the tire light was on. I noticed the light on before I even pulled off the lot, but took a chance and hoped that it was just a technical error but my husband urged me to take it back just in case. So I did and the technician TOLD me I ran over a nail and they were going to charge me, and that they had picture proof that the light wasn't on when I got the car. He wasn't trying to hear anything different until I practically had to shove my proof (picture) in his face to show clear proof of me taking the picture of the dash board that showed the tire light on and the exact tire with the issue, at the exact time of my pickup. That's when he then said he'd exchange the vehicle "on the house". Completely unprofessional, rude, and tacky. ALWAYS take picture proof, otherwise it'll be their word against yours, and more often than not, they'll have what they call "proof" read more

I love this location. I needed a rental car for Thanksgiving weekend. The staff was very professional and clear in their willingness to assist me. I had initially gone to Enterprise and their rate was ridiculous. They didn't have staff to make a reservation and couldn't use my Black Costco card or my federal ID for a better rate. Hertz used the best discount rate and I am very happy. In the future I'll ONLY deal with Hertz. read more

Got into a car accident was this Hertz location was the closest to my home. I was a bit frustrated initially, because I called a few times to get picked up due to my car being in the shop and they were supposed to call me back and did not. However, i ended taking a Lyft there. Got there and Dee was the ONLY one present. I immediately understood why was unable to call me back or send for someone to come a get me...because no one was there helping her. She has a a sweet personality and was juggling myself and 2 other customers at the same time, along with taking calls. She was overwhelmed, but still in a great mood and treated the customers very well. i was told other employee were sent to a last minute meeting downtown, leaving her all alone. However, they should do a better job of making sure Dee has the assistance she needs, not just for the customer, but for her safety. I think it's really unfair to her and the customers, but Hertz is definitely lucky to have her. read more

Hertz has not only lost a gold member customer but gained a very vociferous anti Hertz voice. It is very unfortunate and disturbing I have to take the time out of my busy schedule to write and address a serious problem I had while doing business with Hertz (9240 S. Stony Island, Chicago, IL). My insurance company, State Farm made a reservation for me on Friday, March 24, 2017 at the 92nd and Stony Island location. I called and spoke with Bridget to arrange a pick up at 3:34pm. She told me someone would pick me up in 30-60 minutes. After, I did not hear from anyone by 4:40pm I called the branch several times, but no one answered. I was left without a car and had a very important meeting to attend, which I ended up being very late. This was totally unprofessional and completely unacceptable. To add insult to injury, the next day I called back to the branch only to find out they did not have any full size cars. I had to drive to the airport to get a car and pay out of pocket because they would not work through my insurance. My Hertz experience has been a total inconvenience. To top it all off, I never once heard back from anyone at the Stony branch. To make a bad situation even worst, I wrote the CEO and some staffer contacted me to offer me a $25 certificate. i considered the $25 certificate insulting. Their staff left me STRAINED, i missed an important meeting, NEVER followed up with me at all, further inconvenienced me that i had to travel to the airport and pay out of pocket and they think that's worth $25 (this most often doesn't cover one day's rental)? To add insult to injury their apology is based on me doing future business with them; their $25 is only redeemable if i rent from them again. read more

Where do I begin! Do not I repeat do not do business here. My husband renting a car paid in full from State farm because his car was in an accident. He was reassured that it wouldn't cost him a dime during this process and he wake up today with alerts he's been charged $500 dollars for a rental. Fast forward the bank even called Hertz asked for documentation that he signed saying he owes them and the woman he spoke with said she couldn't find it and will be back in contact with them in 3-5 business days they need time to get this lie together pretty much. They do not have any legal documentation yet, continue to hold his money. Basically some one from this location has stolen his money and we will not stop until it's returned by all means don't do business here and most importantly do not give them your bank card because they will steal your money. Absolute worst car rental office. The first time I rented from them it was fine and I thought it was great to patronize a small business in the area, it all went down hill from there. The second time I tried to use them I requested a pick up and was told that they on the way an hour later noone arrived to pick me up and once i called back the office was closed as it was a Saturday and they close at 12and i had to cancel a family trip. I again tried to use them called ahead told them i had a reservation and would be a couple minutes late. The person in the office assured me he would wait for me, I arrived at 6:04pm only to discover the office closed. I go back the next morning and inquire as to why I was told someone would wait for me to arrive only to find the office closed. The agent told me the reason he left was because he had no more vehicles available last night. So, after all that I'm told they still no compact vehicles available so i asked if they had ANY sized vehicles available and they said yes but it was a minivan and they would comp me the price since i had a reservation. I'll be damned if it didn't smell as if something had died in this van. The smell was putrid! But what could i do needed a car. The next day go to return the car and told i could not get a courtesy ride home but they did drop $10 off of the price which was the cost of my cab. read more

This location is extremely slow. They did not have the size vehicle I wanted to rent. They would not call another location to see if they had the correct vehicle size. It took about 30 mins to return the car and there was only one client ahead of me. The staff was negative. There were other people complaining that they were rented a car with blood in it! Absolute worst car rental office. I made reservation for 430 pick up on Friday August 21 there was a note on the door that sales person will return doing a drop off of another customer. I was perturb but I waited called the number on door ONCE 15 MINUTES PASSED the male sales person tried to reassure someone will be there shortly yet never a definitive time. To no avail after 15 more minutes I walked two doors over to the enterprise ( keep in mind no reservation) and was taken care of in 15 minutes with rental car. I noticed there was line that of 8 people waiting at Hertz that is bad and poor customer service. It goes without saying Hertz lost a customer and Enterprise rental gain one. BTW Hertz didn't follow-up and call the reservation to apologize for Friday this location SUCKS!!!! read more
