Terrible customer service! I had a prepaid reservation, our flight was cancelled due to weather, we called to let hertz know about the delay in picking up the car. I was told " no problem, your car will be held for you " we get to Crescent city...and NO CAR AVAILABLE. No car available all week! ‼‼HORRIBLE SERVICE ‼‼We were charged $1720 when we were quoted $822. We asked to rent the car until Saturday .The Manger filled out the paper work WRONG. She only rented it to us till Friday. When we asked her that car is rented till Saturday she looked me in the eye and said yes. After I called her back to ask why she told me it was rented till Saturday she said she could not remember because she talks to to many people. I called the customer complaint line and they said since I signed the contract that I would be charged the full amount. Even though it was the managers fault. If you're looking to rent a car and get quoted expect to be charged double the price. ZERO stars...in fact, are there negative stars? The lady (and I use the term loosely) told my friends that their car they had rented would be ready for them, so we took them to the Rental Agency at the Airport..The "lady" was rude, grouchy, unprofessional, uncaring, bad attitude, you name it, if it was negative, she had it. After a 40 minute wait for a car that was supposed to be ready, she begrudgingly got the car for them. I am a local here, and I hope whoever the owner of this agency is, will call me and speak to me personally about the absolutely HORRIBLE treatment my friends got. At this point, I will never, EVER, recommend Hertz Crescent City ever again !!! read more

If I could give Hertz a zero instead of 1 star, I would. This is absolutely the most incompetent car rental company on the face of the planet. I made reservations twice online to rent a car at this location. I had a friend drive me an hour to this Hertz location only to be told, we don't have a car for you. I called Hertz, got hung up on 3 times, each time they said 'Oh, so sorry' I finally got through to a stupidvisor in some 3rd world country. His name was Red, employee.#4252. He guaranteed me that there would be a car for me at noon on July 22nd. So today, once again I'm en route to this location and again get a phone call, 'Oh, so sorry, we don't have a car for you.' I ended up trying to talk to 3 additional stupidvisors, neither of which could speak English. I hope that anyone that reads this goes elsewhere to rent a car. Hertz is obviously dysfunctional. It is not true that Hertz is the only rental car counter at the airport. There is a local car company run by the company "Two Guys". This company however only rents cars round trip. They're easier to deal with and are reliable and dependable. Hertz on the other hand has many issues with many different customers. Sometimes there is no car there when you've reserved one. Sometimes the car is dirty and at times the car has no gas. This is never the case with the other company. read more

We had just ridden 399 miles on our bikes. We spent the past four days pedaling in the rain. I was never sooo happy to see Hertz. Unfortunately, we were told our reserved car would not be available for at least three hrs. Being that we were on our bikes, we truly had no place to go. BUT, the staff headed out to the lot and found a car whose trunk was large and the back seat folded down. We were able to slip our bikes and gear in without any problems and were on our way home. Without the diligence of the staff, we would have had to waited in our wet clothes . Love it when the staff goes the extra mile for the customer. read more

I had a reservation for a car with a confirmation # from Hertz. I show up only to be told "oh, we don't have a car" from an extremely rude and condescending lady named Sue. She tells me to come back in the morning and they'll have a car between 9 and 10am. I told her I would be there right after noon and she said ok. I show up at 12:15 and she says "oh, we don't have a car." Apparently, the car they had for me at 9am, they rented to someone else because they overbook "just like airlines" (that's a quote from the desk lady, Sue!). Later that afternoon, I was able to get a car, but it was almost 2 days late. I cannot IMAGINE flying into to Crescent City or taking a bus and showing up to get my confirmed and reserved car just to be sent away walking. Like, how do they expect people who are relying on this service for transportation to get around while they wait for a car to become available? Reserved my car on-line using my Gold Card service. I arrived two hours later than I had scheduled. Paperwork, keys and car were waiting for me. Manager corrected the contract time to reflect my actual arrival. Friendly, courteous experience. Why not 4-stars? Gas tank 1/2 full, which was noted by the staff so I only had to bring it back that way. Always nice to start off with a full tank so this is a nit-pick. I'd go back, no question. read more

Do not go there. Sue, the woman working the counter was nothing but rude from the get go. She told us flat out not to wash the car prior to returning it, then tried to humiliate us by asking us if we would if we would give a dirty car back to someone we borrowed it from. I told her we were customers and did not borrow the car but paid for it and if we're told to not do something that would have cost us money or time, then why should we do that. This was a business transaction and as customers we're entitled to the best price. If not washing the car is the best price, and that's allowed, then why would I was the car? She then went on to say she wouldn't track mud into my house if she were my guest. What world is it we live in that I should be personally humiliated by a business operator for not doing something they told me I wasn't liable for. Only in these little towns have I ever been so disgusted by business operators who preach to me, talk politics openly, and try to make me feel bad for not going out of my way and outside my responsibility. Maybe I should have done a tune up and oil change and left a mint on the seat. I think this Hertz has forgotten that they're not lending cars out to people out of the goodness in their hearts, they're charging people a good amount of money for these cars. When I tip a waiter at a full service restaurant I certainly don't bus my table. read more
