The staff if great and very nice. Ya the hot water in showers almost never works and is not cleaned often enough. So our first day we set up and out every up and valuables in the tents out of site after returning hiking for the day we returned to find our site had been robbed. They took 2 bags one containing my son's epipen and asthma inhaler and all of our medications along with shoes and clothing. They also took a un opened bottle of whiskey. We told the front desk and reported it. The next day we packed everything back into the car to avoid the theft and only left a cooler next to our tent out of site and again they returned and took another bottle of whiskey out of the cooler along with beers and sodas. They don't have enough staff on grounds watching over guests best interests. Also the bathrooms were never locked, that invites the homeless In to use shower facilities and thefts come either that. They also need cameras installed throughout the whole park. If you stay here plan on loading and unloading every single time you leave. read more

It's a little rundown the playground had boards missing the grass hasn't been mowed since last autumn, but they have cabins, tent sites and RV so it's a quick stop for overnight camping. I wouldn't stay here for an extended time. The bathroom door codes are next to the closed office where anyone can access them. There is absolutely no security here and signs warning of thieves at prowl made me feel very unsafe. Plus the showers were clean and they have a semi furnished clubhouse that needs some attention that was open till 10pm with board games and toys. Unless you are traveling with your own RV with its amenities, I wouldn't recommend. The location is beautiful but that's it. We arrived at night and self checked in, were given the wrong cabin (from a 2 bedroom to just one room cabin-we are a family of 4 plus our dog traveling 12 hours pre booked 2 months ahead) they had no others available with only payment difference of 15 dollars. The only light on the outside didn't work and was never fixed. Restrooms were dirty, one of the sinks was "out of order" since we arrived with what appeared to be either facial or pubic hair...was never cleaned during our 4 day stay. Trash was never picked up we threw it out ourselves. Playground is outdated and with the black tarp popping out everywhere. Hours are not great 10am-3pm.It was such a disappointment coming from 12 hours away to a KOA so crappy, specially being a KOA! read more

My husband and I are frequent KOA tent campers. I have been a rewards member for a while now. We typically stay at the KOAs in Northern Arizona. We were taking a trip to California and decided to stay at the redwoods KOA. I love this company but I was so disappointed in this one. With the amount of tent sites and cabins with no restrooms, they only had 3 functioning showers, and one was missing the shower head so it came out like a spout from a sink. I had to wait in line for a while for my turn. The other three had no hot water and were out of service. I never saw a janitor there during my entire 2 day stay. The bathrooms were poorly maintained and the "store" had nothing stocked. The office was bare bones and uninviting. Perhaps my KOAs have spoiled me, but there was always employee presence, changing garbages, cleaning, just maintaining the grounds. This one was dirty and the facilities were not kept up to what I expect at a KOA site. Please do something about this, the area is so beautiful. It's a shame this is so under kept. read more

This was an OKoa. The check-in staff at first acted as if on autopilot repeating a script, unwilling to answer any questions about billing without getting defensive and condescending. Our camp site in the redwoods was nicely shaded although it was very dusty. Most of the extra activities this Koa advertises (eg, the rec room, horseshoe pits, animal petting area) are underwhelming and under maintained, as if passed their prime years. The bathroom floors were smeared with feces for much of one day, and the hot water was broken in one of two shower buildings. But you can't beat the location, so there's that. read more

I usually love staying at KOA kampgrounds and this one was a miss. We stayed two nights in a dry cabin, and it smelled absolutely awful. Had to keep the windows open and it was not much help. The bathrooms need some serious TLC. All three of the toilet handles were broken and one would just not flush at all. Showers are not clean and look thrown together with towels on the floor and crooked shower rods. Store was empty and they close by 5pm sharp if not sooner. This KOA needs to do better for the price. It's in the Redwoods so that's a plus. The sites are set up kind of wonky. The first site was a pull through however the electric/water was at an encoder site, we would've had to unhook our vehicle from the trailer and move it around to the other side. They did accommodate us and move us to a site where we could stay hooked up. We have a nice pull through site. Staff are awesome! Corina and A mature lady at the desk, Debbie are wonderful and helpful,the lady to answered after hours number with an issue was ready to come over if needed. The restroom door in the ladies lock for the toilet did not match up, so my bathroom door was swinging. It doesn't look like anyone has cut grass in a while, some grass that is over a foot tall and there are some tall weeds that make it look seedier than maybe it actually is. Landscaping is in sad shape, except by office. The Wi-Fi is nonexistent. Claim to offer cable. My husband brought cable in case there is a need and hooked it up , it does not work. The redwoods area of this camp: so many have been cut down. It's sad looking. One reviewer claimed the new owner did this for money. The store is only open 6 hours a day. There are warning signs posted in the bathroom that bikes have been stolen. Apparently someone is coming in from outside the camp at night and cutting cables to steal bikes. Why wouldn't they hire some sort of security? Our neighbor had a nice chair stolen while they were out for the day. 'Holiday' needs to be removed from this KOA. There are goats but no petting zoo. There is a camping trailer outside of the front comfort station that has hoarded items piled up. I'm assuming it is someone that lives here? There is no handicap bath/shower on the ladies side of front restrooms. One shower is missing a bench. The showerhead came off in my hand. Only one shower door locked. And that one did not have any hooks to hang up your stuff. There are no staff onsite after hours. No security in the campground after hours. This place should have the name KOA removed from. We had just left a beautiful KOA in Lincoln City Oregon so this one is a shock. read more

Showers that don't work, laundry that doesn't work, toilets that barely flush. Broken down playground for kids, game room with no lights and broken equipment. It was horrible. We have stayed at some amazing KOA, this was the worst by far. It says under new management, so perhaps there is hope for this place. But in its current condition... I won't be back. read more

I have been staying in KOA's across the country for over 30 years. I have even stayed at this specific KOA before, as a child with my family. I can whole heartedly say that absolutely NOTHING has been upgraded since the last time I was here, in 1989. We had a late check in, but had made reservations month prior. When we arrived, there was barely any lighting to lead the way to your campsite. It was raining & MUCKY with mud. There were tons of fallen trees blocking the driveways to campsites & we even ended up getting STUCK, in the mud, in the dark with out 15 ft adventure trailer because of the poorly marked, poorly lit & poorly maintained campsites. We took a wrong turn & couldn't get out bec of all the downed trees & MUD. For over an hour in the pouring rain, we meticulously hand pushed our trailer out of the mud. We tried to call the after hours number for some assistance, no answer & no call back. There is zero security presence, there isn't even anyone that resembles a camp host onsite after hours. The bathrooms are LOCKED after hours which is absolutely POINTLESS. Why even bother getting a campsite if you can't use the bathroom in the middle of the night? Other campers told us of rampant theft in the area & we didn't feel safe leaving our camper there to explore the redwoods, so after the first night, we cancelled our remaining reservations & drove up to the KOA in Grants Pass. It's a real shame bec the surrounding redwoods are gorgeous but the "amenities" at this KOA are dilapidated & non existent. & they ban "pitbulls" which is high key ridiculous especially since two small dogs ran around the entire campsite, LOOSE & barking at everyone. My pit is my service animal & knowing they ban based on breed is disgusting. I will never stay here again. Zero stars but Yelp requires at least one. Which they don't deserve. read more

However, the wifi did not work even though the cabin was 100 ft from the office. The site itself was horrible. Workers were operating golf carts out of a shed in front of our cabin until 9 at night kicking up gravel dust making our fire pit area unusable. The noise throughout the day was even worse as the property is being logged. We walked around and it looked horrible with all the stumps between cabins, tents, and RVs. So looking at the review by Kimber R on 6/16, it made me struggle a bit with rating this. Because after reading her review it made me think of how I did notice their odd check in hours and late check in process. Now I am thankful we only stayed there one night in the middle of June. This KOA was the 3rd KOA on our family of 5 trip down the coast. We stayed in a cabin, which was ok. It was clean but didn't have any trees around to shade it. So it was very hot feeling even though it was not a scorcher yet outside. The cabin we had was on a corner and felt like it was right out in the middle of everything and no privacy. They offered a petting zoo but it felt like a poor attempt to have something on site to do as I only recall seeing a goat in a small pen as we drove in. Pros: - Its near the redwoods - Easy to get to from the highway Cons: - Not as much shade as I like when staying at a KOA - Staffed hours are ridiculous 10a to 4p - After hours check in is unsecure and dangerous We didn't have a horrible experience but it was definitely not our best KOA experience. I would not have booked here again based on our stay, but definitely not after reflecting on our experience and reading other reviews. Very nice KOA. We typically don't go for pull through sites, but couldn't refuse the deluxe option. It included a deck with furniture and fire pit. We were assigned lot C12. The space between our neighbors was little to none. However, the great thing about all KOAs is that we always had considerate neighbors thus far. I highly recommend this KOA for tent campers. They have a loop at the rear of campground where it gives you that feeling of camping deep in the forest. If only I could park my travel trailer back there. We absolutely loved our stay at crescent city KOA! I was nervous at first based on the many negative reviews so I really felt it was important to share how great our experience was. Whitney at the front desk was so sweet and helpful. We arrived after the office was closed but were able to grab our key and get in to our deluxe cabin effortlessly. The cabin was very clean and stocked with toilet paper and paper towels. We were right at the front of the koa and did not hear any loud tractors or anything mentioned in the negative reviews. BEWARE! Theft and drug use in our cabin! We are not new to KOA. We use them every time we move, and that's often, we also camp in between moves. We've stayed at 20 different KOAs in the last three years ranging from over the top amazing(Billings, Montana) to pretty basic(Cascade Locks, Oregon). But we have NEVER felt like we or our belongings were not safe until this KOA. We showed up at 6:00pm(their office only has people in it from 10:00am-4:00pm which is insane! They also don't have an on site camp host, so when there is an emergency, it takes well over an hour for someone to respond). When we got there, there was a board with our name on it, saying our cabin was unlocked with our key inside... clue 1 that this place don't take safety seriously. So we drive to our cabin and try to go inside, it's locked. Then a man comes to the door who is clearly shooting up, he gets frazzled and tells us he works there(he did not) and grabs his stuff and runs into the woods. While I was standing outside of the cabin, the camper across the street came over and told us that he recommends taking our bikes off the car and the bag we had on top into the cabin for the night, because his campsite was ransacked that morning and his bikes were taken by two men with a truck! After I explained what had just happened to us, he and his family packed up a few days early and left. The cops were called and came, and said it's really common not only at this KOA, but at all the campgrounds near by to have stuff stolen from the sites. The camp host eventually showed up and had not only the worst attitude, but didn't care one bit about us walking in on someone doing drugs in our cabin. He then thought we were overreacting by not wanting to stay there for the night. There is no way to keep strange cars from coming in at night. No security arm for after hours, no locked gate. No care about these things going on in their KOA. They know safety is a concern and their manned hours don't change. This is the first KOA that I will tell everyone to stay away from. Run, don't walk to anywhere but here. EDIT: We just now received a call from the owner, and she was very kind and apologetic. They are looking into a different system for people arriving after hours. She said she will be refunding our stay, and we appreciate that greatly. But, unfortunately that doesn't take away from the scary situation we experienced last night. read more

We were on long motorcycle camping trip and chose KOA so we could wash laundry and enjoy a hot shower. This KOA had a broken washer and no hot water in the tent camping area. We also waited over 30 minutes for them to deliver wood and ice to our site. We gave up and picked up the ice ourselves. Grounds are suffering for maintenance and sites are crammed together like sardines. Quiet time is not enforced. We tried to call after 10 pm and nobody answered or called back. read more

We had never stayed at a KOA before, and certainly will not be returning. We thought the location would be convenient for doing day-trips out to the things we wanted to see, but there are many other camping options that would have been just as convenient for tent camping with a single vehicle that would have been significantly more pleasant. For the three nights we were there, the bathrooms were cleaned maybe once. They were under stocked or out of service. Functional and in-use bathrooms had signs posted stating that they were closed for the season - indicating just how little attention is paid to the maintenance, upkeep, and communication of the campground. Of the 6 women's showers on site, not a single one had hot water (comfort), a shower curtain (privacy), and a door lock (safety). Only one stall had hot water and a lock. No part of the campground was paved, and it was difficult to tell the difference between a pull-through site and the road. Only about a third of the sites are in amongst second-growth redwood trees - the rest of the sites are ugly and offer no privacy from your neighbors. Staff were unkind and unhelpful - office hours are limited and it was completely unclear who you could go to if you needed something outside of office hours. Firewood available at the office was dense and wet - terrible for burning. I really, really wish I had given my money to a state park. read more

Highly don't recommend staying at this establishment if you want to be paying for an over priced campground that had a lot of maintenance issues, very poor conditioned restrooms that were "closed for cleaning" more than half of our stay, and has zero security as little as cameras that could oversee the facility. This means you may experience your personal items stolen from you in the middle of the night like we did. Last night 08/13, both of our electric bikes (without the batteries) were stolen right out front our camper, off the bike rack that was securely attached to the front bumper of our truck. We are very upset considering we were ONLY informed that multiple bikes are being stolen in the campground, that this is a common occurrence and that the campground apologizes that this is happening. This note was only written on the doors going into the restrooms close by and also posted on the front office door. Once this was read, we went immediately to the truck and made sure the Apple Air Tags were in their patch on both bikes, we placed more locks AND even zip tied them to the rack for the intent of them to be less likely to be stolen, unfortunately our efforts were not good enough. There is nothing that could show who was in the KOA campground at the time this happened and there was absolutely nothing done to try to even prevent this from continuing to happen, or any visible effort on the campgrounds part to stop this other than the note that practically says "good luck!" We were not even informed by the worker who checked us in. In the morning when we had realized the bikes were gone we were able to inform one of the workers that was available prior to the office opening at 9am, they stated that this happens so much, even with them "locking up campers bikes in their facilities shed to have them still break threw the locks and take them." After knowing this information I wanted to make sure that this shared to the public. We do want to thank the KOA workers who did help, especially Steve who took the time and walked down the sides of 101 with me to see if they may have ditched them off the road to pick up later. Also the local Sherifs office and the officer that came to the campground and took our information and will be looking out for them. My fiancé and I loved these bikes. They were perfect having on the trip to help save fuel, we had many adventures with them, but most importantly we are more thankful than anything that the bikes were the only thing that was stolen. We are safe and that's what matters. read more

Eh...my first experience at a Koa and am disappointed. Staff is only onsite 10a-4pm and so when two of the three toilets backed up and one shower was out of order , there was no one to call. Also, if you don't get firewood before 4pm, you're out of luck. On top of that a tractor came by at 530pm (?) and the traffic noise from highway 101 is really loud, not to mention the nearby gun range. The driveway is FULL of potholes (6-8" deep) and, as my 10yo says, the dog park is sad. On top of that, the WiFi doesn't reach to our campsite which is definitely not the furthest from the office. The bikes others mentioned were never seen or available to rent Disappointed at best. Gave it three stars because it's Crescent City and I feel bad for the town Seems like a great opportunity for Hotel Impossible. Stayed at an Oregon State campground the night before and cost 1/3 as much and FAR better amenities, cleaner, quieter, etc. read more

Beautiful property!! I just did not need to have a discussion with employees why I should get what option they advertised to get my business. Please keep in mind the deluxe lodge that you see the floorplan for may not be the one you get. There are two different deluxe lodges. KK1 ( long ) and KK2 . The photo floorplan I looked at is KK1, but was given KK2. Now, I returned to the office to inform Stormie, the cabin I ordered and expected , is not the same layout. I am extremely disappointed how Stormie complained to me that it was going to take a lot of work moving people around that have not even arrived to give me the cabin I ordered based on the floorplan I selected. That is not my fault! Yet, again she reminded me two days later how much effort it took on her side in order to give me what I ordered. My gosh I don't need to be reminded by an employee all her efforts 2 days later. Ugh..lol. So suggestion: Post the floorplan of the other type of deluxe cabin. Then Stormie does not need to be praise/ thanked or display her dismay for you just wanting what you selected and paid for. The property is green, filled with large ferns, and surrounded by Redwoods. There is no pool here. Bike rentals available. There are several cabins and tent sites the are hidden within Redwood Way. It does deliver the camping experience Get out and walk the property. On our second night here the cable lock on our bicycle was cut and bicycle stolen right out of our camp site. Apparently this is a frequent occurrence. There is absolutely no security presence. This was our second stay here. The service is warm and welcoming. The campsites are beautiful and the bathrooms are regularly cleaned with hot water! This campground is perfect for kids on bikes . Great campground that is close to the area parks and attractions. We were there for 2 nights with an RV motorhome. RV sites are a bit cramped with little privacy between most sites. Cabin and tent sites nestled in among the redwood trees are unique to this campground and make it to feel much more secluded and private than they are. A great feature if you do not bring an RV. WiFi service was not that great. Signal was not strong unless you were in the immediate vicinity of the antenna. There are many great amenities offered as is typical with KOA campgrounds, the staff at the front office is extremely pleasant and helpful when it comes to questions about the area. Unfortunately, the only drawback to this stay was the gentleman serving at the pancake breakfast (that you pay extra) both mornings we were there he seemed to be in a bad mood and was not very pleasant. He acted very frustrated due to his own lack of unorganization and took it out on guests. read more

This is an absolutely beautiful campground. I stayed in a one room cabin which was set into the redwood forest. Within the forest itself you can see giant stumps that are the remnants of the old growth trees that were cut down long ago (when we had not yet learned to be good stewards of these giants). Check-in was quick and simple and the cabin and site amenities were in good condition. It was nice to find movable benches at the cabin's fire ring. I've stayed at several KOA's and this was the first time seeing them. We were able to purchase firewood at the campground store and enjoyed making s'mores under the stars (Ghiradeli salted caramel chocolates in place of Hershey's)! The showers and restroom facilities were kept clean and stocked and access was controlled by a security keypad (code provided at check-in). Overall a very nice KOA and located conveniently to many local attractions. read more

This is my first KOA cabin experience. I'm stuck between 3 or 4 stars so I round up! So I like the grounds, half is woodsy half is up on each other's butts. Maybe that's how KOA's work but jeez the Deluxe cabin (I'm in) and RV's are arms length way. There's not really much privacy if you are eating or near your fire pit your neighbor is right there! $300 is a lot to not be happy. On the other hand there's something to be said about rolling up and being able to just come in and take a load off or a shower and running water.... All in all I would probably come back and visit but I dunno if I would do the deluxe cabins. They seem to be a new addition since they are thrown in like track houses... This was our first time ever going to Crescent City. We are from the the Bay Area and had a little family gathering during spring break to catch some crabs and explore the Redwoods. We didn't want to go camping but wanted to find a reasonable cabin with a full kitchen to cook the crabs in, and a place close enough to the local pier, rivers, and parks. I found KOA through TripAdvisor. We got the deluxe cabin with a queen bed, a bunk bed, a futon, full bathroom, full kitchen with everything included we didn't have to bring anything, tv with cable plus a DVD player, and a private bbq/ firepit area. We were so close to the entrance, the rec room, and the park (which the little ones loved). They had recumbent bikes that you could rent out and go around the campground trails which was super fun for everyone. The cabin was so clean! And best of all, the price was affordable! I wanted to say thank you to the staff for all the hospitality they gave us during our stay there. I honestly believe that the good vibes we felt during the whole trip was because of KOA Crescent City. When you go to a new town for a few days, your initial thought is I HOPE I PICKED A GOOD SPOT TO STAY and I feel like that is one of the factors that sets my mood on the whole experience. The deluxe cabins are gorgeous and spotless with a sink, microwave, and private bathroom/shower. Really lovely! We ordered the "all-you-can-eat" pancake breakfast. There was one woman cooking four pancakes at a time for a room of 30 plus people. We stood in line for 15 minutes and watched the woman serve people who had already been served but appeared to know her, and she also allowed people who arrived in line after us to eat before us. She appeared to know them also. We left without having any breakfast because it appeared we would be the last people to get pancakes since friends were served first and second while we stood waiting. The location is absolutely beautiful, but it was not the friendliest KOA we've been to this summer. read more
