I specially made a Yelp account to make a 0 star review if it were possible. My reservation started off fine and progressively got worse over my 10 day rental. I first off questioned the man while later to find out was the supposed "manager" if my insurance set it up for the correct 10 day period , he assured me he'd confirm it once he got in the system ( never confirmed with me ) , I was never told about what time to bring it back. I was actually given a blank reservation form and that's it. I wasn't informed on the type of gas the car takes , didn't tell me they were closed on Sunday ( my drop off day ) nor that they didn't have a drop box , so now here I am not knowing how to drop off the vehicle since all Hertz in the area are closed Sunday , to add to the minor inconvenience I was being told I was charged for a whole 10 days of insurance when i wasnt under the impression of that happening. after a yelling match and being hung up on by said 'manager' I made it clear I wasn't paying for the whole 10 days but would for the weekend I would be out of town. I see why this location has 1 star review. Do better ! It's not that hard to give customer service correctly , informative and properly. Hertz get this BS location together ! read more

I scheduled a rental car with this location on Tuesday. I took an Uber to the location to get the car on Saturday, only to find the door locked and a sign on the door saying they were closed on Saturday. Their website didn't say they were closed nor did I get a phone call, email, smoke signal during the week to let me know. I could have came in on Friday afternoon if I had known that they weren't working Saturdays. Due to their lack of communication, I do not recommend this location. read more

Please note that I reserve cars multiple weeks at a time. I pre-paid for reservation from April 1 - April 8. On March 28 I called the Hampton location just to confirm everything was good to go. I showed up to pick up the car and the facility was closed. there was a sign on the door they said this facility was temporarily closed and take all your rentals back to the Jefferson Avenue location. I called the Jefferson Avenue location to confirm if I had a reservation and they didn't have any cars left. I never received an apology from the Hertz at the Hampton location for the inconvenience that they caused on April 1st. Avoid the Hampton Hertz location like the plague. read more

Hampton Collision Body Shop had a contract with Hertz for me to have a car while the body shop was fixing my car. To make a long story short . . . I returned the car on May 2, 2023 and have a receipt that states that I owed $0.00 and Hampton Collision was responsible for the bill. On May 26, Hertz charged my account for the rental. When I called about the charge - I was told from the sales person that they couldn't get Hampton Collision to pay the bill so they charged my account! This is fraud and Capital One will file fraud charges against Hertz. read more

This place is HORRIBLE! Choose a different place if you can... First off, dealing with insurance company made me pick Hertz. I call and it rings for about 7 minutes. They answer and put me on hold for another 10 MINUTES! Finally someone answers and laughs... like sort of a, "oh gosh, I can't believe we forgot about you" laugh. I schedule my appointment, get to the body shop where they already warn me that Hertz is horrible and I will be waiting for a long time so I am semi-proactive about it. I call right at 8:46 for my 8:45 pickup appointment. They do not answer the phone until 9:07... they put me on hold right away without me even getting a word in. I wait for literally 8 minutes more on hold. Hang up, and had to call back. They answer right away and I explain how long I have been waiting and they say, "oh! Yes! Mr. Tyler... Yes, we will send somebody right now" with MORE LAUGHING. I have no idea how this place is still in business... I then asked if they had forgotten about me, and she gets quiet then says, "well, I have you down on this piece of paper here..." and that's all she said about it... You don't put it down in the computer or anything official? Furious. I am currently STILL waiting for my pickup 20 minutes later. read more

This is our third and last time we will be using Hertz for our car rentals. The only three times we used them we were downgraded to a cheaper smaller vehicle because they did not have what we reserved available they did not discount us for this inconvenience which was a major inconvenience the last time the reason we rented a bigger car is because we needed one. There was no apology no discount no offer of anything for this major inconvenience and headache. I believe they do this intentionally and it's a way to make extra money without it costing them the extra money. on top of that we went to return the car rental on Mercury boulevard in Hampton Virginia and there was a sign on the door that they were closed that we had to take our car back to a different city which would have been closed by the time we got there. also I had just topped off the gas tank right across the street from where we were returning it which would have meant I would have to put additional gas in to return it somewhere else. Now they're telling me I can't find out if they're going to charge me until after I return the car. So I called the other Hertz agency where we were told by a note on the door to return it at that location and she isn't going to charge me the extra day but customer service the 800 number said that they cannot let me know until I return the car. We were given no notice that the original location would be closed they didn't tell us when we rented the car nor did they tell us at any time during the car in our possession that we would need to return it to a different location in a different city. Customer service told me I could return it to a different location in Hampton but guess what that's the only one. customer service was very poor no one tried to correct anything that we had issues with except for the one lady said we don't have to pay an extra day and that was at the Hampton office which funny is open today. I do not recommend Hertz to anyone and if I could give them no stars I would. They simply acted like it was no big deal and they didn't care and I was also told by the Hampton office that they cannot give any refund or difference in amount if they downgrade you a car when you already paid for the better bigger car. read more

This place is the absolute worst. My father in law came up from Florida and found this place. Made a reservation online but never received a confirmation number. They NEVER answer the phone like EVER. Oh and make sure you look online for there hours because maps nor there building have the new "Covid" hours. Got there and they gave my father in law a car with bald tires, got into another car, and there were cigaret burns all in that one plus a seatbelt and airbag light came in finally got into another car and is finally on his way home two hours later. I really tried to ignore the previous reviews.... however I really should have listened. This particular place is unprofessional and uncoordinated with no communication or team work! I spoke to one of the employees to swap a car that had an issue. This could have been done at any hertz however because this location was in close proximity to my job I gave it a try. The person said that they would be glad to help me and the car was ready I came in my lunch break and waited 20 mins the car had no oil in I.T and the tires had no air. They had plenary of cars in front of me but would not exchange.. they told me I had to take the car that I had even though I.T may have been unsafe to drive.. I only rent cars from HERTZ.... yet today was the first time I have ever had an experience with a supervising representative from the company that was so supremely subpar. The supervisor was unwilling to answer any questions, instead opting to repeat the company policy that had nothing to do with my line of questions. Sadly, George also felt the need to raise his voice after becoming frustrated that the "answers" he was giving wasnt enough to end the conversation. Interesting enough, this individual offered his supervisors information to file a complaint. Upon doing so, Rebecca was able to answer all the questions that George felt were unnecessary. Up to an including being able to list the cars offered within a specific model size. If myself or my family/friends ever have to rent a vehicle it will be from Enterprise a half a mile up the road, not you all. It's ashamed when a front desk representative uses the vocabulary "it is what it is" & storms out the room when dealing with a concerned customer on why their card was charged without being told. I don't just go around swiping my card without needing an explanation of where my hard-earned money is going. I would think it is proper protocol and customer service etiquette to inform your clients on deposits and how much the deposit is before just swiping their card and sending them on their way. Your staff is rude, incompetent, and quite frankly act "ratchet" if that's a better way to put it. My 1st time renting here was awesome...No problems. But went to use them again and couldn't cause I was using my debit card, so had go by credit score. Its wasn't high enough for to rent here again. REALLY? Used the same card last time and didn't check my credit score then. They didn't have any problems getting my $835 after having the rental car for a month!!! Well like a lot of people Insurance company made me go to Hertz I made the appointment to pickup car as they would not do a pickup. Called the day before to confirm car. Was told no problem everything will be ready. Dropped off car at body shop for repair went to pickup rental. One guy there acted at first like he didn't know who we were, then said I will have to call for a car will be 45 minutes to an hour. What??? We reserved a car and there isn't even one here? What the hell. We have jobs to go to, had to work this out with both wife and I to do this because you wouldn't pick us up at body shop and now no car? I had made a reservation, but had a problem with my credit, and wanted to deal with any problems up front. I had a few questions to ask, and was prepared to accept that I might not be able to rent. What happened was not what I expected. As soon as I let them know that there might be a problem, the man I was speaking to told me he had to take care of something, and he'd call me right back. Instead, I found my reservation was cancelled. An adult, business-oriented person would have had no problem saying they regretfully couldn't approve the rental. Childish, and disrespectful. Especially in view of my honesty. There are many reasons why credit may be less than stellar, in my case, cancer wiping out resources. I'm trying to rebuild. It would not have hurt for the man to decline me respectfully. I would have had nothing but good things to say. As it is, Enterprise, who are consistently phenomenal, have had the benefit of both around $1000 of my business and 5 star ratings for everything including customer service in as many places as I can get to. read more
