Made reservation on Expedia... Went in to get car and they said they have no cars and they can't help me with reservation. And my ride left.

Sadly not a great experience. The first car stunk like dog. So they gave me a second car, a slightly cleaner Nissan Altima. It lasted a few days till the check engine light came on. I had to return it. They gave me a Hyundai Sonata they guy said was an "upgrade". He clearly does not know cars. If fact it was a manual seat, stripper model. And a piece if #$%@. I tried them as the price was almost half of Nationals, now I know why. Since then the pricing has been the same as National, so you know where I will be from now on. read more

Being that I travel often, I can say I have rented from every well known car rental company far more times than I can count. Experiencing well over 70 car rentals, (ok I can kinda count ) this one inserts the capitol B in BULLS**T ! This operation must be following the pages of a GRADE F HANDBOOK and WILL charge you outrageous amounts over false claims. Also you will probably be sent off in a vehicle that is far from clean. Let me explain My kids took a flight to Oregon and decided to rent a vehicle from Hertz at the Hillsboro Airport. After speaking with Joyeuse Mugish ( have no idea how to spell that ) they were given a FORD FIESTA and it was spotless. Upon return everything went as it should. When the trip was extended and since the previous experience went so well, they decided to rent from HERTZ AGAIN. This time Joyeuse gave them a blue FORD FIESTA THAT HAD STAINS ON THE SEAT, the roof had some type to red splatter, and the vehicle had a strange odor. The youth, unfamiliar with policies, didn't complain and kept the vehicle for 4 days. On February 8,2021 they were running late to catch the flight back home and readily returned the Vehicle WITHOUT VACUUMING IT OUT OR WASHING THE OUTSIDE . Now in all my the rental encounters, I have never washed the car or vacuumed it out, as rental car companies are expected to do with each vehicle. Well as you see in the pictures the outside had some dirt on it because it has been raining in Oregon and the inside had a little bit of the leaves/mud which could be vacuumed up easily. The stains on the seat weren't from my kids, but even if they were, It does not constitute what was taken from their bank account. After dropping off the car they received a text message from the lady stating they have been charged $300 to perform a deep cleaning because the car came back filthy! This lady is communicating with them via her phone and sent the photos stating this is why they were charged. Can you please tell me where on gods Green earth (or gray cement sidewalks ) does this lady think this car needs $300 to be cleaned? Seriously? She also allowed them to " come back and clean It out " but only within a 20 minute window because she had already re-rented the car out! Forgive me, am I missing something? Where in the hell can I get a job cleaning a car for 20 minutes and making $300? I guess HERTZ CAR RENTAL IN HILLSBORO!! These kids work hard for their money and it is not OK to be ripped off that way. We all know HURTZ is going through a huge bankruptcy and may be struggling for profits but to place false claims on customers to gain a substantial amount of money is beyond me. I cam attest to same situations after reading multiple reviews of similar stories happening at several HERTZ COMPANIES worldwide. v I WILL CONTINUE to call until I stop hearing the same SCRIPTED excuse of " SO SORRY MA'AM, NOW THAT ITS BEEN DEDUCTED FROM YOUR ACCOUNT, THERE IS NOTHING WE CAN DO" Next time you hover around your weekly business table meetings, please consider a new dialog. Hmmm I was about to give this a 1 star review, but they did give me a nice car a Ford Fusion hybrid for $20 dollars a day with unlimited mileage. Unfortunately, 1 of the guys gave me the guilt trip of not buying the insurance protection plan and he said what if you get into an accident or if you drive recklessly. I told him I will be fine and no. Anyways the car was nice except they gave me 2 keys to the car attached Unfortunately, when I drove the car and accidentally kicked the key when I was stretching, the ignition shut off especially in the middle of the high way. I ended up taking one of the keys off so I would not kick it. One of the ladies were rude to be at the front counter giving me a hassle why I detached the keys saying did you know if you loose the keys it is a $250 dollar fine and I said yes and told her the ignition problem. I have to rent from these guys again, so hopefully they will give me a survey to tell them how crappy it is. read more

I needed to make an emergency trip to see my brother who was deathly ill (he recovered thank goodness) last minute I reserved a car! The gentleman at the counter was so friendly..he hooked me up with a car that had all the bells and whistles!! It was super comfortable, we got to Colorado and there was an error message saying take it to a dealership...so I called hertz..they offered to let me switch it out but I really loved the car...so the helped me figure out why there was a message and then helped me clear the non essential message....I will be back...everytime I need a rental thank you for being amazing hertz!!!! read more

Got a $100 charge under the category "Other (Vehicle Inspection)" on the ebill, without any further explanation. Hertz staff kept telling me that only the manager can provide me the explanation but she is on vacation. After 2 days she called me and left a voicemail that she will leave soon so we'll talk the next day. Here's where the problem starts: The next day, when I called her, she accused me of not calling her back for 2 days! What? (I just called you at my earliest!) On top of that, she told me that the charge was for car detailing because of the marijuana smoking smell! What? (I don't smoke cigars, don't drink, and definitely do Not do pot!) I told her that I don't smoke and it can't be because of me, do you have any proof? To which she replied that she sniffed it and so did her two employees, and it smelled exactly like pot! What? You can put your verdict on your smell and offensively accuse customers of illegally smoking a drug! And she defended her smelling prowess by saying that she has been renting cars for 8 years, 4000 cars a week, and this week, she has only sent 5 cars for cleaning, so she can't be wrong and that she knows when its Pot and when its Not! So essentially, they don't have any quantitative assessment, no eye-witnesses, no video stream, no detector results and still they can put outrageous charges on customers! I told her that someone could have easily set me up, how do I know that one of your employees didn't smoke pot in my car after I returned it, or what if it was already smelling pot when I got it and I couldn't register its smell because I've never smoked pot, or if you guys had put pot in the trunk or engine and set me up. To which, she astonishingly questioned me that are you putting allegations on me?? And I was like, aren't you putting allegations on me!! She said that this issue isn't getting anywhere. To which I said yes, Hertz should technically install black box cameras in the car and marijuana smoke detectors. To which she again ridiculed me by saying that "are you suggesting that we install "drug detectors"" and giggled! not knowing that such detectors actually do exist and are being sold by AirGuard! I told them that they can verify from my health, social security, employment, and driving records that I've never been verified positively of smoking or drinking and that I can say on the penalty of perjury that I didn't smoke. To which she said that unfortunately, all of the employees here don't agree with you! What? I was like ok, I don't think this is going anywhere, how can I avoid such a charge in the future. I know I didn't smoke pot, so what should I do to be assured that you won't put this charge next time too. To which she bluntly replied, "Don't smoke pot again!". What? I just told you, I don't smoke! So by now, I've had enough of the insult. And with such a rude, damaging and demeaning customer service experience, I called Hertz Customer Service and explained them the whole situation to find out if this typical of Hertz and if its part of their policy. To which they humbly and deeply apologized to me, refunded me half of the fee amount and assured me that the manager's behavior is totally against Hertz mission statement. And I further contacted the neighboring Hertz office in Beaverton, OR and discussed the situation with the manager there and she also empathized with me saying that I was treated badly and that this should not have happened if I were to come to Beaverton's Hertz. In short, I just went through a customer service fiasco at Hertz! I am now waiting for a serious apology from the higher management and plan on contesting the fee charges with my credit card company. Poor customer service, stripper car with manual lock (no button on the key which will screw you up if you leave it inside), manual seat, manual headlights, with mild stink. I was in an accident and got this rental through insurance. Because of the mix up, the insurance approved only an economy car when it was supposed to be a full-size car. After clearing this mix up with the insurance, I contacted Hertz to switch this so-called "upgraded" economy car (according to Hertz) to a full-size car, they simply said nothing's available and gave me a phone number for a different location. Well, the other location also did not have anything available but at least they offered to call me when something becomes available. This location simply did not care. At one point, they even said you are only going to be in it for a few days. I called to check the availability again the next with this location just in case, but both of the times I called went to their voicemail. It's just laughable. read more

Avoid if possible. I was charged a $150.00 cleaning fee. Never saw that coming. The idea of the ebill is so you can't question them over the counter, which I should've realized. This location was terrible. The person didn't open the place till 650am which they open at 630am. They gave me a free upgrade for that but i think that was a terrible idea. The upgrade had so many issues. I was going to California for a funeral not to worry about their car. I'm going to give them another shot & hopefully they do better but i an not keeping high hopes. The car I'd rate as a 0 it was that bad. But the employee here were okay but still. They should know the cars better. Let alone they should call someone back after i left 2 messages. Best service! Most hassle free rental car experience you could ask for. In and out in five minutes or less. Pro tip, rent a hybrid... Best cars they have with super low mileage. My last rental had less than 50 miles on it. I rent here a lot, probably once a week or so. Getting to know the agents has really helped with creating the seamless experience. Beware of the company. They gave me a mid size car even though I booked a full size. They claim that Chrysler 200 is a full size car. Even Chrysler's website says that 200 is a mid size car. After I gave them a negative review on their website, the sales person from Hertz called me and started arguing with me that Chrysler 200 is a full size car!!! Very poor customer service. They never pick the phone calls. Doesn't care about customers. Don't have the right information. Sometimes charges with some high amounts(multiple charges) and they don't even bother to drop the charges once the car is returned. This is last time I am gonna deal with them. read more

They provided the rental to me with a 7/8 full tank and when I returned the car with 7/8 full tank, they charged me $23.48 for fuel that I didn't use. The car was also not washed or vacuumed out either. Be wary of the airport Hertz. read more

CSR offered to upgrade my rental car as I had to wait for her to process my reservation. It was thoughtful of her but not necessary. She mentioned to me that the car she was giving me had satellite radio - okay, nice but not a big deal either way. After returning the car my bank account was charged by Hertz and when I checked the charge it was for the Satellite radio! I never requested this! I called to have an adjustment made and a snarky CSR spoke to me in a very condescending manner and made me feel discounted. I received a voice message from a manager who said she'd issue a credit for the charge. I called the next day when I didn't see a credit and left a message. I've just called a 3rd time because I still haven't been credited. No response, nothing. This is a pain i the ass because now I have to contact my credit union and have them dispute the charges. Hertz has proven to be very inconvenient to rent from. Never again...Enterprise gets my all my car rental business from here on out. Enterprise picks you up, checks the mileage and fuel when you check in and return the car. THAT is a valuable service that Hertz doesn't come close to touching. read more

The employee was helpful and seemed nice enough, but halfway through the call he just started cracking up for no reason at all.
