My husband and I started renting cars to go on mini trips. We rented quite a few times from here and we loved the staff. They were always so nice, friendly, and communicative. Even during their busiest times. There were a few times I had to wait 15-20min for a staff member because they were helping other customers and I didn't mind at all. On Tuesday, January 17, I left my car for repair. I went to the Hillsboro enterprise to rent a car. They picked me up from the car service. The lady who received me was very kind. The rental process was done, just when I was going to get the key, another employee (I think supervisor) asked me about my job. I said I was an Uber driver. He suddenly got serious and said in a harsh tone, you can't use the car you rented in an uber. I said that it was impossible, my own car was registered, I could not use another car. He still persisted and repeated 3 times. He looked at me sternly for about 10 seconds. When the lady who was doing my transactions was going to give me the key of the Volkswagen suv, he said "don't give it to him" sternly addressing me. That lady brought another key. They gave me a simple compact car with very worn wheels and not suitable for winter conditions. Seeing such an attitude and being discriminated against because of my job made me very sad and hurt. If I didn't need an urgent car at that moment, I would have left. I had to pick up my child from school. I have rented a car dozens of times, but I have never encountered such an attitude and discrimination. I will never rent a car from Hillsboro enterprice again. I was also a business owner until before the pandemic. I was employing dozens of people. I was a manager in many companies before. Enterprise is hilarious in how they want more money for no reason. This isn't necessarily about the location specifically but Enterprise as a whole. I want to make a reservation that is 10am to 10am, because they will charge by the hour if you keep in longer. Enterprise will not let me unless I checkout at 10am and return at 12pm. What does a two hour late check in offer me in exchange for charging me 35/hr for those extra hours? I know, nothing! I talked to the Enterprise reservation line rather than booking online to see if something could be done. That guy couldn't care less and tried to sell me on "it's a busy time period, lot's of returns happening then". It turned off every location in the Portland Metro extra the most expensive (Exotics or PDX) so they get more money either way you slice it. I asked him to let me have a car from noon to noon then and I will take pressure off their busy time period but he said the system won't allow it. I then told him that means your argument is flawed and this just a 75$ tax on my rental. He didn't have any answers and was borderline aggressive so I hung up. I just want to say be careful when renting cars from Enterprise. If you cannot book it from the exact time you want, don't do it. Their hourly charge rate is so horrible, you may as well keep it for two more days...and they know that. I didn't cause the pandemic and I rented even through that time so don't hit me with a "rental tax" of 35/hr because you think inflation gives you more power. The lady we worked with was friendly enough but I've rented cars with various different companies and this one was the fairly unpleasant. I'm not sure if enterprise is just a lower tier car rental agency or what. This was a car rental due to an insurance accident. They asked a LOT of questions and required 2 different phone numbers and asked what my employer was. Normally when I rent a car, I give them my license and credit card. Decline the insurance and am on my way. Speaking of, they were VERY pushy over their insurance. They took a no as a "let me explain more". This was 12:30 on a Wednesday, I have to go back to work! Their selection was awful. My choice was a mini van or a mini van. They told me they may have more selections later on. Worse part of all, the gas tank was almost empty!!! Are you kidding me? During this time of COVID how do I even know it was cleaned? We will be driving to PDX to get a better vehicle and hopefully a better experience. read more

I just needed a car for the weekend. I set everything up online- it was super easy. When I picked up the car I showed the 'pass' I received via text, I just needed to show my id. I wasn't even there for 5 minutes. The car was clean- these days that's really important. It didn't have any unpleasant odors & they even left a packaged Clorox wipe for me to use. Returning the car was just as easy. The people I dealt with were knowledgeable & friendly. I will definitely come here again. read more

Arrived to find the business closed up for the day, the guy who was there informed me they were "out of cars." Completely screwed up my travel plans and wasted an Uber trip. What is the point of allowing reservations for a particular day and time if the business isn't going to be open? For that matter, what is the point of taking reservations if you don't have any cars available? These imbeciles should not be allowed to do business. read more

Our family had a bad experience with a competing rental car agency in the past, so decided to try Enterprise instead and we are so glad we did! This particular location went above and beyond to help us. We were traveling with a wheelchair and a walker in addition to our luggage, and having never traveled with these things before didn't plan for how much space they would take up! The people at Enterprise immediately understood our concern and called around to find a vehicle for us. We were so relieved when they found a Chrysler minivan for us! The van was immaculate and fit all our stuff perfectly. The staff gave us the weekly rate on the van and there was no hassle at the other end (in Seattle) when we returned it. The complaint we had with the other agency is that they tacked all these charges when we returned the car! Enterprise did none of this. Thank you for your excellent service! read more

I can't say enough about their efforts during our holiday rental over Christmas. Every effort was made to provide the vehicle needed for winter driving, even when resources were limited. Review Update: At the end of my rental, somebody different was at the location. Wow. What a difference. I was able to get a refund and they dropped me off to the auto shop no issues whatsoever. I've added a couple stars as a result. I made a reservation online but when I got to the this rental location, not only did they not have the economy I reserved but the only cars that were available to me would cost $10.00 more. Excuse me? Typically when a rental location does not have a car type that you were reserved they always give you another car at no cost. I called corporate and they said because this particular branch does their own billing there was nothing they could do. Ridiculous. The manager running the front desk was equally condescending and asked me "do you know what you're doing?" When I told her I didn't want the extra insurance. I have been renting cars from Enterprise for years now, and each time I've rented a car from any of your locations, I've experienced nothing but the utmost in professionalism, customer service, and willingness to assist. Any issues (there haven't really been any) were dealt with promptly, and I've always felt Enterprise staff has bent over backwards to make me feel like a valued customer. Not so with my most recent rental. I reserved my rental online on Sunday. Ordinarily, I rent from a downtown Portland location, but I had business to attend to in Hillsboro, and was going to be heading towards the coast anyway, so I went ahead and booked my car from the location on 4th and Oak in Hillsboro. On Monday, I received the customary call from the location, confirming my reservation. But instead of the usual, "Great, can we pick you up?" I was asked how flexible I was with my time, and would I be needing the car at noon "because, you know, the website defaults to noon and not everybody actually wants their car at noon." I advised her no, that I really did want the car at noon; I had a fairly tight schedule and needed to be somewhere, so I really didn't have any flexibility with this. She went on to say that she was trying to be proactive and was hoping that I might be a little flexible so they can make sure that they have a car, and am I sure that I can't wait until 2pm? I assured her that I did, in fact, need the car at noon, otherwise I would have changed the timing on the website. She became short with me, and said fine; there would be a car available at noon. I arrived promptly at noon. My car-renting experience went anything but smoothly. Having rented from Enterprise before, I expected to come in, have them print out my reservation, do the walk-around, and then leave the lot. That's how it has worked at the other four locations I have rented from in the area. But no... no such luck. Kelsi identified herself to me as the location manager, and started to get me set up. Then, suddenly I was asked for references. I was asked for my insurance card. Neither of which I felt inclined to give her, as I'd -never- been asked for before. I admit: I was becoming rather escalated at that point. The attitude of, "Gee, I don't have enough cars, so if I don't have to rent this to her, I can get it to someone else" was coming across loud and clear. We get outside, and she shows me the final total. When I booked it online, it was a total of $58 and change. I expected about $65 - $70, with taxes. Nope. It came out to $128. Which was more than double the cost of the rental per the quote online. It seems she'd taken the liberty of adding the additional insurances on to the final cost of the rental without my consent. After some bickering, I finally (rather hotly, I'll admit) said fine. Whatever. I'll pay the money. Can I just please get on the road now? To which she replied, "I don't think I want to rent this car to you." I have worked in customer service for 10 years, both face to face, in retail, and as a manager in a call center. My "escalated customer" voice came out, I faked my way through the transaction, and finally she relented to renting me the goddamn car. In my 10 years of experience, if I had ever once laid my problems on my customer like she laid hers on me, I would have been written up for terrible behavior. From the get go, it was obvious that they were having some sort of logistics issue; had they even said something along the lines of, "We may be out of vehicles, but we'd like to help you get a rental at a neighboring location" or something indicating they care about me as a customer, I would have smiled, said I understood, and been happy to have worked with them to the best of my ability. When I have had situations in the past with other locations and my reservations, they've simply upgraded me for the same price, no questions asked. Instead, Kelsi wanted -me- to make concessions to them - I assume because she and her staff did not want me as a customer. I fully admit - I was angry. However, telling me that "clearly you're pissed" is a very poor way of trying to empathize. Telling me how I feel, talking over me, and generally treating me as though I should be privileged to be working with your company is NOT the way to encourage positive customer interactions. When a customer is escalated, you de-escalate the situation, NOT escalate beyond their emotional level. Telling me you're "trying to be proactive" in arranging rentals is, essentially, telling me you're trying to CYA, and y'know... as a customer, I don't care. I really don't. I am sorry that there are some problems behind the scenes - I know shit happens. But as a customer, I've got my own stuff to worry about... not her problems. Overall, a TERRIBLE experience. I would strongly recommend avoiding the place. Use the location on TV Hwy or Murray and Allen - they know how to respect their customers. read more

I like writing good reviews. This isn't one of them. Frankly, the only reason this business gets one star is because there's not a selection for zero. See, I just finished sitting with a good friend as she cried her eyes out over her treatment at the hands of the Enterprise corporate flacks. Here's what happened. She'd been renting a car for some time from these people - something she was forced to do due to economic circumstances. Last year, she was sitting in traffic when someone hit her. He jumped out of his car like a jackrabbit and started yelling at her - obviously not in any pain - and that figures into this story, as well. She'd never purchased their 'insurance' (she had her own) - but Enterprise wouldn't recognize it. She wound up paying nearly $2K out of her own pocket to fix the damage on two vehicles. Today, she got a letter from Enterprise - without informing her, hearing her side, deposing her, or allowing her any input, they went to trial after the man sued Enterprise for 'pain and suffering'. The letter was a demand for close to $5K (an amount she doesn't have). This stinks to high heaven - I'm sure there's a law against this (she was never a party to the suit) - but they're going to stick her with the bill, and it's just enough that defending oneself would be not only problematic, but cost more than the damages. It's obvious to me that this guy saw an opportunity to make money for nothing. It's obvious that Enterprise doesn't give a hoot about people who rent from them (in this case, for nearly two years). _______________________________ I travel a lot on business. I've rented a lot of cars from these people. They can count on two things now - first; they'll never see a dime from me again. Second, I'll tell every person I know, starting right here. After speaking to a rep on the phone I was promised a Cadillac or equivalent. When we got there the next morning there were only trucks available. I do not drive trucks! After waiting around someone brought in a filthy dirty older model Chev Equinox. They put us in that with the promise of an upgrade later that day. Nothing, called the next day and was promised again that I would get a car as soon as one came in...again nothing. (he admitted that cars did come in but were rented to others) Called again was promised a call from the manager...nothing..Have not heard a word from anyone and here it is a week later and i'm still in this crappy car! read more

Our car was in the shop and our warranty covered a rental. Bruce Chevrolet set up the appointment for the car for us all I had to do was go in. I was already in a bad mood when I showed up as my 3 year old car was in the shop for the ac compressor needing to be replaced and it was going to be a week. Kathrine (I believe is her name) she helped me out as was extremely friendly. She was sorry I had such a bad day and went out of her way to get me a fun car to drive... as long as it was a chevy..dumb warranty rules. Once we found a car and went over all the paperwork I had a small question but she was on the phone. Evan answered it for me. I saw the pet policy and cleaning fee and wanted to know what was a acceptable amount. I have a dog who sheds a ton but I had no intentions to put him in the car but his hair does tend to get on us and if it happens to get left in the sit I do not want to be responsible. He seemed irritated by this question and I got the feeling he thought I was going to put the dog in the car and blame the hair on my cloths. Either way my question was answered. After getting home I realized they left some other rental cars keys in my rental. I called in minutes before they closed and spoke to lady who originally helped. Again she was super nice but clearly worried about the keys. She politely asked if I would be in the area any time soon. I told them I would drop them off the next day. For going out of my way for them they told me the gas was free. Fast forward to three day later.... I realize the tags on my rental were expired.. And not just by a few days or a month but by 5 months! I called them up and Evan explained since it was the first of the month they may have just missed it.... I had to stop him and let them know that it was really 5 month expired. He seemed shocked. I then had to go over on my lunch and return the rental.. I thought I would go in after work original but I didnt have time. Well when I got there they had NO CHEVYS IN STOCK.. I had to wait about 30-40 minutes to get a new rental. After two days of having that rental my car was finally done at the shop. Went I returned the car Evan was more then polite allowing my stuff to stay in the trunk while some one came to get me. Overall my experience was alright.. Seemed like a lot of things went wrong but they did good to make it up to me I guess. read more

Whenever I need a large vehicle to take gear to camp in Southern Oregon, I rent a truck, and whenever my family takes a road trip, we rent a small family car. Every experience is awesome. Aaron rented me the car this past Friday, and he did a wonderful job of getting us in the car that was perfect for our needs. The car was very comfortable and ran nice. Enterprise snuck on a damage waver to our contract without explaining what it was or how much it would cost. Come to find out when we dropped the car off it was 16.99 a day for 22 days. Absolutely ridiculous. Enterprise has no moral standard. I will be going out of my way to make sure people know what enterprise does to it's "customers" and make sure people don't use them. These people are running a scam. I made an online reservation for $221 for 8 days. I saw no prices for insurance on the website, but when I added insurance at the counter for the car only (no liability, no roadside assist, no health insurance, just for damage to the car) the price more than doubled to around $460. The insurance costs more than the rental! The following is the conversation I had with the clerk after I found out about the new price: ME: I guess I'm just not getting insurance, that's too expensive. EVAN: Ok, but if there's any damage to the car you have to pay for it when you return the vehicle. If a rock hits the windshield and chips it we're replacing the windshield, that's $1000. If the door gets dented in a parking lot that's $1500. ME: I don't think I would want to pay that. EVAN: You won't have a choice, we just charge your card. We don't ask your permission. ME: In that case I'll make sure there isn't that much money in the account when I return the car. EVAN: Then we send it to collections. ME: If it comes to that I guess I'll have to go through your process. EVAN: No you don't understand, there is no process. We just send the bill to collections. This the first time I've been openly threatened by someone as part of a sales pitch. I've had a windshield replaced before, it was $250 including labor. In what world does repairing a dent cost $1500? Are they replacing the entire door? These guys are just inventing prices for repairs. And now that I've read the other reviews (wish I'd done that before!!) I see they are actually charging people's cards for huge amounts as Evan threatened. My guess is Enterprise deliberately hides the fact that the price doubles because they know people who are planning to use the car right away (i.e. most people renting cars) don't want to cancel their trip or find a rental car on short notice. They've got you right where they want you, and you can either pay double the quote or pay an 4x the typical repair cost if the car is damaged. I was in a hurry and completed everything online the night before my scheduled reservation to save time. I arrived and a customer was already there waiting. He was sitting so I sat and waited in line. A new customer comes in but there are no chairs so he stands and the next available agent helps him first even though I had been waiting for 10 minutes. Two customers who just walked in were helped before me and I had been waiting 10 minutes before they got there. I finally get helped and I am standing at the counter and while explaining the terms the agent takes a phone call and rather than put them on hold he proceeds to complete their entire reservation while I am standing there waiting for him to finish explaining the terms. Basically I would have received better service if I had called the agent and made my reservation while standing 3 feet away from him. That way no one else gets served first. It was incredibly poor service. I walked out and wanted to explain why but the agent turned and walked away while I was talking. This was to worst customer service I have ever received in my life. I am 60. Enterprise is absolutely horrible. I would not rent from them again if the rates were free. Another issue: If you want to rent from them bring window washing gear. This has been the worst experience I have ever had renting a car. First, they had me wait outside in the car I was renting bc of Covid (July 2021) and then the lady asked if she could go inside the building and run my card for a certain amount, when she came back she said she ran it for that amount plus another $200, she said she had forgotten to tell me about the deposit but went ahead and ran my card for the total. I'm sorry but an extra $200 makes a difference and I'd like to know BEFORE my card is run. Second, the car was extremely dirty. It had crumbs from someone eating all over the center console , the inside of the windshield looked like someone had spit on it. Kinda funny since they were so concerned for Covid and made me wait outside/ in the car. Third, when I went to return it the employees did not show up until 9:10 AM when they opened at 9 AM. Now three days later, I still have not been returned my $200 deposit, I'm very curious if I'll ever get it back. Summary: I'd recommend renting a car from anyone else. read more

I had an issue with my last rental and received a free upgrade for my next rental but when I called the branch to book I was told it was not valid on the SUV (which was not a listed stipulation on my original offer email), he was not rude at all but sounded pretty certain it wasn't valid on SUV's due to summer demand. Without arguing I accepted his comments but called and spoke with a customer service representative in hopes my concern would reach management. I received a call back shortly after from Rachel Shepard a district manager who was so kind and helpful. She honored the upgrade and was very pleasant about doing so. Her customer service skills were superb and made me feel like my concern was important. I will only rent from Enterprise in the future and will always recommend them to family and friends.
