the worst customer service I've ever encountered at a car rental place. I called them first the hurts on Highway 10 near the bypass and ask them if they had cars for rent and they said yes you can just go online and reserve one. So I went online and I reserved a car at a certain time. Before I left I got a call that said we do not have the car that you reserved the only vehicle we have is a pick up truck. I said I need a vehicle so I'll pick it up and trade it in when you get a car. So I paid for a cab to drive me from Fort Langley to downtown Langley. when I walked in, I said, I am the person that somebody spoke to and said you had a pick up truck on reserved for me. they gestured to the two people standing beside me and said they just rented the pick up. I said you called me and told me that you had a pick up truck for me hold it for the time that I had reserve the car for. The people behind the desk kept leaving the room and coming back. finally somebody came in the room and he said I have a card for you and started to what I thought was a car rental agreement. Before I sat down, I asked them if I bring the car back can I wait here for two hours for my sister to get off work and pick me up? they said sure and then I sat down. I noticed that the man wasn't doing anything anymore and I finally said are you getting a car? he said well you sat down so I thought you didn't want the car for two hours. I said that's not what I said. I said when I bring it back, can I sit here for two hours not can I sit here for two hours now before I rent a car. Instead of starting the process he began to argue with me about what I had said, and then I realize that they must all be stupid because they couldn't understand what I was trying to tell them. I eventually got an Uber to take me to Enterprise Rent-A-Car. I walked into enterprise and they were very welcoming. They said sure we have a car and started the process and within 20 minutes. I was driving off the lot in a BMW. Hertz is cheaper for a reason, but I'll pay extra for the ease and the friendliness and the accessibility of 10 cars I could choose from. I am Hertz gold member, this my first time to use this location. Very friendly and their cars are fairly new and clean. They give me free upgrade, never force me to pay their insurance or any optional services(had a really bad experience with another big name car rental company where they told me all the horrible stories happened to people who didnt buy their insurance). Very bad experience, they will not explain properly what they are selling, they will try to sell insurance that you may not even need and will not do anything to inform clinets - completelly oposite from their competitor Enterprise, save yourself disapointment, in fact will try to take advantage of your situation and try to make profit of it. Very poor customer service from the man at the front desk. One woman was very friendly But did not seem to be in charge. Here are our complaints. 1. When I called to arrange to pick up a vehicle for an ICBC claim, the person on the phone was very curt and unhelpful. 2. Signage was very poor, a tiny little sign that was barely visible from the road - and then the person on the phone didn't explain that it might be difficult to find. 2. Our car wasn't ready and we were told we might have to wait half an hour with no courtesy or explanation given. My wife was late to work so a simple "we will do our best to help you ma'am" would've been nice. 3. There is a company policy in place that wouldn't allow us to use our MasterCard which is a prepaid TravelCard that we've used for the last five years at many merchants including securing hotels or other rental vehicles. They suggested we could give a $300 cash deposit but that when the car was returned it might take three months to get our cash back. The ICBC claims adjuster said that would be a ridiculous idea. This seems to be a company policy that they can't change. 4. While the male employee was talking to ICBC he was also busy texting somebody on his phone. I don't know if this was work related or not but he certainly didn't give ICBC much attention. 5. This is the second time I have not been impressed with this particular Hertz location. Both times it has been related to an ICBC claim. I think they are not doing much to raise business but instead just depend on ICBC claims that are basically pre-paid by ICBC. read more
