I had already made reservations, so with just a driver's license and credit card, it was a quick process, and I was on my way. Everyone was very friendly and helpful and the transaction took place on the sidewalk in front of the store, for safety reasons. And this car...man am I going to hate going back to my own car!

Unfortunately, that's the position that I found myself in recently. They kept constant communication up to the point that I finally had a pickup date (my vehicle was still driveable so I didn't need to get a rental until my vehicle was in the shop). When I arrived they didn't have many vehicles (not surprising, it's been this way since COVID) but they wanted to make sure that I left with something that I was comfortable in. Since I do not drive much the vehicle didn't matter too much to me and I settled with a muscle car. It was a little awkward to get into (I'm pregnant) but I joked that I'd be right at home with the Winchester brothers from Supernatural. They explained everything in detail and made sure to point out every scratch or nick on the vehicle so that I wouldn't worry about being held liable for them. I had the vehicle for one week. Within 24 hours they had called to check on me and let me know I could swap it out if needed. Again since I don't drive much there was no need but I thought it was great customer service to follow up. I also appreciated the fact that I was able to leave the rental at the car shop when my vehicle was ready and they would pick it up so I didn't need to worry about the return. As for the fleet of rentals, they're always clean on the inside, and the only time it wasn't on the outside was once when it was 14°. The young girl working here was very helpful and friendly, I told her I needed a larger SUV since I needed to carry lots of coworkers and she gave me an Expedition. Checking back in was quick and normal as the other locations, as all I needed to do was leave it in line with all other vehicles being returned and walk away! We called the one 800 Hertz number To reserve a car. When we arrive to the location to pick up the car he said they had none that were available to rent. A gentleman walked in right behind us to return a car early so they told us that we were able to get one but we had to wait because it needed an oil change. They were going to call me to let me know when it was done. After a few hours I heard nothing back from them and decided to call myself. The gentleman on the phone was the store manager again and he was so rude and told us that he thinks that we have to cancel. And told me that I can get an Uber. There were a lot of other rude comments that he made to us also. He is not a good representative of this company.

I expressed this to the employee, but he said, "I don't know how to work these new cars." ‍ Thank God, made it to my location safely and no tires were busted or out of air, since I wasted more of my time and money to fill in air and make sure each tire was filled to the rightful amount. It left us scrambling with a short time to find another vehicle large enough for our group. Luckily we called Enterprise and they said if they did not have a vehicle large enough for our group that they would give us two vehicles for the same rental price. Thanks to them we were able to make our flight. I will never rent from Avis again and will tell everyone I know to not do business with them again. I had to drive my wife back to our home, beg her to let me use the car. She's on oxygen and would be without a car for the week. Not safe. She reluctantly agreed, but it was so stressful. The LAST thing I needed on such an important day was to have to worry about something like this. The Enterprise woman promised she'd call later. She didn't. I called corporate. Twice. The first time, I was promised someone would call back. They didn't. The second time, they said they were forwarding it to the area manager, who would call within 24 hours. They didn't. I'm not surprised. They obviously have ZERO interest or care about their customers. I tried to call and give them an opportunity to simply apologize and aim to do better by people and respect their situations. I don't want a freebie. Last night we stayed in Lexington. This morning we went to the enterprise at the airport in Lexington and it wasn't open, though all the other rental companies were. We finally found this enterprise on Winchester, which was open. They were able to get us a minivan, which was perfect! Cade was a life saver, along with the others (I forgot your names already) who cleaned the van. We were happy to take it dirty but they did the best they could and we are all now ready to drive the rest of the way to MI in comfort. Cade was so nice and helpful and got everything squared away very quickly. Honestly, everyone we saw and spoke with was great and all 5 of us are very happy (including the teenagers!). So i called at 9 and was told they should be able to get me by 10. When I called at 10 they said they had no idea when or even if I would get a car today. Very Poor service and the whole process demonstrates a lack of respect for customers needs, plans and time. This is not a one time event. I could not get a car in 2022 over thanksgiving weekend as there was more need than cars. It appears reservations are meaningless. You are reserving the possibility of a vehicle. Don't count on them.
