I guess you have to expect low reviews when most customers in the market are grumpy, don't do their research, just getting off planes, and want the world to work for them no matter what. I desperately needed a last minute one way rental. I was helped out, treated with respect and patience, and given the best rate in the state for sure. If zero stars was an option zero would be my true rating . I rented a car for a day, returned it the same day 9 hours later. almost a month later I get a 920 charge from them. I call and they don't know what's going on I have to wait to speak to a manager 3 days later. I speak to the manager and she doesn't know what's going on either they send my funds back but now I have to wait 5-10 business days. Unethical unprofessional and just plain sloppy I wouldn't recommend any one go here. You're better off just walking or taking an uber it'll be cheaper and less of a headache. read more

Was not made aware at time of booking that the facility was closed on Sunday and I would be getting charged for the day, despite the fact that I was dropping it off at 10 am to catch a noon flight. It's a car rental company, not a 5 star hotel. We reserved a car, we got a car. Simple. After coming into some very unfortunate car issues that left our car in an auto body shop 2.5 hours from our destination, Hertz was the ONLY car rental company in a 25 mile radius doing 1 way car rentals. Although their price was DOUBLE the price of enterprise, I'm just thankful we could pick up at 1 location and return at another. The sales rep helping us was very friendly, quick, and helpful. Within 10 minutes of arriving, we were back on the road. Granted, if we had other options we would not come here due to prices, but we had no choice. We were stuck about 5 miles down the road, but due to staffing shortages, we were unable to be picked up. I would only recommend this place if you need a car for only 1 way trips. I wish they did hourly rentals. $123 for 1 day for a small sedan. Yikes. read more

NEVER book from this location-NIGHTMARE June 2, 2023!! Made reservation on April 11, 2023 for vehicle June 2-6, 2023 pick up at 12:00 noon - got phone call from the office June 2, 2023 10:06 am stating she didn't have a car for me and she was working on it and would call as soon as she had one - as of today June 7, 2023 still have not heard back from her. Tried like crazy to call them back from 11:00 am until 2:00 pm which was impossible with the automated system. So do yourself a favor and book with another car rental facility. Worst place ever to rent a car. reserved my car 3 months in advanced and when I came to pick it up they tried to down grade me. I had to call and find my own car at another Hertz place since they said they were calling everywhere and no other hertz location had what I reserved or better. I was suppose to have my car by 10am and when I finally found what I needed it was 5:45pm when I pulled off their lot. Rashad was really nice and understood why I was so upset. Nick who I think was the manager told me I should try other car rental places or take the down grade car and when I showed up to pickup my rental he was out of the office and would be back until 5:30ish. When you walk in there are insincere smiles and greetings, but these people are not worth your time. I made a reservation through a third party online service which advertised that Debit/Credit are accepted. When we arrived we were treated great but when they asked for a credit card we did not have our major credit card, even though it was advertised as credit/debit OK. things went from nice to naught. This got my husband extremely upset and especial when workers started coming out of the woodwork to investigate the people without a major credit card. (To the guy in the green shirt, "the little man" who came and fronted in my husband face, mind your own business. He was having a conversation between the person who checked us in and the manager, so in the future, if a person is having a conversation between A & B, C yourself out.) When we got home my husband called Hertz, and there introductory recording said that debit cards are accepted if a credit check is made. The so-called manager NICK who didn't have the decency to give my husband his last name didn't mention that. He assumed that because we did not bring a major credit card we didn't have good credit. Avoid this office like the plague. Two last things, husband and wives are considered as one driver, they don't tell you that and they'll charge you per day for the second driver. Second if you come in from the airport and you use their shuttles, they'll charge you a surcharge whereas they tell you its a free shuttle. read more

First off went a day ahead to confirm rental and costumers where waiting outside cause the person who was suppose to be working left and never came back. One lady was waiting 3 hours. I gave one of their costumers a ride back to her car. When finally dropping of the SUV I rented. I asked for a ride back to my car that was only 5 miles away. Just to be told that they could not drive me back. So, good thing it was a nice day for a 5 mile walk. I can't say the experience with this place a pleasant one at all. Next time I will spend the extra money and go back to Enterprise. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. I reserved a car for my mother weeks in advance. When she went to to get the car, they told her that they rented out the car to someone else already. What's the point of making a reservation if they won't hold the car for you? If someone feels like renting a car for 1 hour or 1 week, why do they care. The worst customer service I have ever seen. I needed to cancel an airline flight from Washington DC to Bradley and drive instead due to a medical issue with the person I was traveling with. I called several rental car companies that did not have oneway rentals and finally settled on Hertz as they were able to accommodate this need. I coordinated with the drop off with this Meriden location. I wanted to make sure that I would only be charged for one day as the drop off would be occurring after hours. The manager I spoke to, Allison, went out of her way to make sure that my concern was addressed regarding the return. She was careful to take down all the information and indicated she would make sure it was processed the next day so as to be within the one day contract period. She was super accommodating which helped to make an already stressful situation (i.e. the need to dramatically change plans) a little easier. Her willingness to be very involved in helping out a customer was very much appreciated! read more

Unfortunately the worst experience renting a car I've had as of yet. I typically rent from Enterprise and right about now I wish I hadn't strayed. I was not able to resolve my issue at the location or with customer service. The gentleman we were working with, Mitch, was not helpful and moderately rude and the woman in the call center was extremely condescending (it seemed her only goal was to prove me wrong by reading various lines from the rental agreement like a robot). She insisted it was only reasonable that I would have been told about the grace period; I told her I completely agreed but I simply was not ("Like if I call into work they're going to ask me how late I'm going to be" .....this was the "assistance" I got from customer service). As someone who has worked in a call center in customer service myself, I consider myself to be very patient and courteous with representatives but I actually ended up hanging up on this one due to her attitude. I called the afternoon I was scheduled to return the car to notify them I was running late (I was driving down from Maine and got caught in traffic). I was told I'd have to pay for an additional day and there was no way around it (I asked several questions to see if there was an hourly charge or any other policy that would avoid paying for the entire next day). I later found out there was a grace period which was not mentioned in our call (which lasted several minutes). I did look through the paperwork we were given but either it wasn't there or I missed it in the lines upon lines of tiny text. The car was returned later that day shortly after they closed, I put the keys in the drop box (where it says credit card customers can place the keys after hours -- somewhat misleading...) and the car was there when they got there in the morning. The car was available for them to rent out and make a profit from the entire day that I was paying them for. The most frustrating part was if I had been told there was a grace period, I might have been able to get the car there in time. I was under the impression that after 5:30 I'd be charged for an additional day no matter what, which was what I was told. In addition, I was told the manager at the Meriden location would be calling and never received a call. Possibly the worst customer service overall of any company I've worked with thus far. This was my first experience with Hertz; I'll be sticking with Enterprise. read more
