Why does Enterprise continue to have a Middletown office? Multiple times I have tried to rent a vehicle both on line and in person. They never have vehicles available. Last night I reserved a vehicle through the Enterprise website for a 730 am pickup. They had a vehicle I wanted; Received a phone call at 715 am stating they would not have a vehicle for me till later in the afternoon. I reserved a car on line before the office opened, and it was confirmed. The reservation was for 1:30 pm. At 1:25 pm they sent an email saying there was no car available for my reservation. When I arrived they said, we sent an email, you didnt get the emai? 'Then when they offered no help or suggestions, I asked if there was another Enterprise where I might get a car, they looked at each other and said, "you could try Holyoke" When I said can you check for me, the woman who seemed to be acting as manager said "honestly, you'd probably have better luck calling than if I made the call." UPDATE: As you can see, they responded the same day. I emailed them as they asked, also same day. I've heard nothing. Original on 9/15: It's funny many reviews on G-reviews (I can't leave one there as there's some ridiculous "authentication" issue with G even though I can see my g-mail) say it's the only place they'll rent. I guess that's easy when it's the only place in Middletown (closest other rental is Meriden or Berlin Tnpk) & 1/2 block walking distance from Victor's - THE absolute best shop in the state. Needed a rental after an idiot drove down the side of my stopped car. They claimed the Hyundai Kona was an upgrade. WORST CAR EVER! & I've owned a Ford Escort! The Ford had more power. This car whined going up my driveway. MANY times I had to let off the gas & give it time to shift. Would NEVER just pull out or merge unless there was NOTHING coming out of fear for my life. Anyway, I called the 800# several times. There was nothing else available. Same from the 2 times I called them directly. Blamed all on the 800#... I finally returned it & the guy that took it in said he'd driven it before & had found it sorely lacking in get-up-and-go. Said management would call me on Monday (returned Fri) since I'd said I wanted to discuss billing before it took place. Took 1.5 weeks to call me - the day AFTER it billed my CC. Promised an invoice being sent to my email. Never received it. They claimed they checked it & it was fine. So it was made to be a POS? He refused any discount blaming 800# & also they billed me, not his office, BUT, please make sure I review & give high markings as they're penalized for less than 5*. LMAO!!! Keeping my promise to review. This was not the 1st time there was an issue (that's NEVER their fault BTW) so next time, I'll drive to Meriden for a rental! Lacking customer service skills. Called to make sure my rental was ready but when I arrived I was informed there was a problem. Manager would rater talk then listen. If you are in a crisis ask them to borrow their cell phone, the answer is no. read more

Experience was above average for any rental place I've gone to. They went above and beyond for me both times I've rented and excellent customer service. I wont rent from any other place but here now. With the new rules you must wait outside ,but they work quickly to get you in and out . read more

We had to rent a car after an accident this past week. Erica took care of all the paperwork. When we got out to the car, it was really small, we decided to upgrade, she had to redo the paperwork. Erica had patience, took her time, explained the car. When we returned the car, someone else took care of us, she stopped eating her lunch time ask how we were and if we found a car yet. I WAS a frequent customer of Enterprise of Middletown for three years now. They are never able to give me a ride like the commercial claims so I have to spend money on a Lyft to get there and home. I rented a car so that I could visit my family for Easter. They called the day before and confirmed my reservation at which time I said yes I still need a car. The next day they called me and said they were sorry but they had no car available for me to rent. This is outrageous and completely unacceptable. I wasn't able to rent a car at that point last minute anywhere else. I wasn't able to see my family and worst of all, my new baby grandson who I was supposed to meet for the first time! I don't recommend Enterprise of Middletown and I will never use them again! read more

I have rented from this location many times for work in the past. The people here are always friendly and efficient. I can tell that they work hard and try hard. Compared to other rental agencies locally, there is no comparison. My one complaint is that they seem to have a lot of trucks and SUVs, and even if I ask for a smaller car (I like good gas mileage), I wind up in a very large SUV with not much gas in it. Either way, I do not see that as a deterrent. The cars are all in good shape, are clean, and everyone working here is professional! Thanks, everyone! read more

Do not rent from the Middletown location of Enterprise . They take advantage of young folks who don't know how the Extra insurance works and then they pretend they explained everything. They even emailed the contract to the wrong email address . When they are called out, they offer to refund part of the extra charges under the guise of "we'll work with you " . Not a good experience . read more

Our car needed body work due to a hit and run. Liberty Mutual our insurance company made the arrangements, Chris Collins (reference number 03989777802) with Brothers Auto Body and Enterprise. Enterprise met my husband at the Brother's Shop on Monday, 7/8/19. Our insurance pays $30 a day which Enterprise knows as this was told to them by Mutual Insurance who works with them all the time and it is outlined on the rental agreement when Chris Collins called Enterprise. However, Enterprise delivered a black suburban costing $54.74 a day. My husband told John that he did not want a car this expensive or this large as he travels to and from work 100 miles a day. John said that this was the only car they had available. John also said that he could not print a contract, which my husband requested before taking the car. John said he would email it. It was never emailed despite two phone calls the next day. We called Liberty Mutual and they said to return the car and that Enterprise should be "eating the cost" since that was the only car they had available. My husband was not able to get back to Enterprise until Wednesday, 7/10/19. Again he asked for a car covered by insurance and was given a car that we later learned cost $46.49 a day because once again he was given no paperwork and no contract. So on 7/12/19, I returned after work with my husband and returned the $46 a day car and demanded we have a car that is covered by our insurance allowance. We requested that we be credited the amount over $30 and we were told "no" with a bunch of excuses but the female manager did acknowledge that I was the only car Enterprise had! At this time, we were given the initial contract from the first car, no contract on the 2nd and no contract on the 3rd. We were taken advantage of and I want this looked into so we can receive a refund ASAP. They charged our credit card over $117 and I want a refund. read more

The worst enterprise location you can pick they will steal you're deposit and give you a horrible car that has mechanical problems and that's been smoked in, cars are filthy customer service is horrible and they will keep you're deposit no matter what. read more

Friendly staff and I had reserved a full size car - once I viewed the car I noted tires a bit worn - they then offered me a Jeep Liberty - new vehicle that served my purpose of transporting grandsons to ball practice, amusement park, water park and more for the week. Enterprise has always been a top tier rental agency when I travel when it comes to service and treating me well - Middletown Enterprise was up to that standard! read more

Rented a minivan from this location for a family trip to D.C. First, the manager refered to me as buddy during the phone and in person reservation. At pickup the minivan was unwashed, and interior was filthy, Seats were sticky and just an overall disgusting. I had to wait an extra 30 min to have the van recleaned. They only vacuumed to the floor. On the way back from DC to home we had rain from DC to Atlantic city. The wiper blades did not clear the window at all. I had to pull over 10 times because everytime I turned the wipers on it only smeared the windshield. I was actually able to drive without the wipers on believe it or not. Upon return I was livid and told the attendant about the vehicle and how it was unsafe for travel as I had my family in this vehicle and it should be serviced. She told me that the wipers are changed at every oil change and it was me. Upon leaving they were in the process of renting the same van to another customer. No cleaning and no repairing of the wipers. I would not recommend anyone coming to this enterprise. Find another location read more
