Extremely Disappointing Rental Experience - Key Issues and Lack of Transparency
I am writing this review to share my deeply frustrating experience with Hertz and, in particular, the General Manager, DayShawn Long. My husband and I recently rented a vehicle from your company, and unfortunately, the entire experience has left us thoroughly dissatisfied.
From the very beginning, red flags were raised when my husband noticed a "maintenance required" signal on the car's dashboard. Despite expressing his concerns, the staff assured him that the car was in working order, urging us to proceed with the rental. To our dismay, the car was not only filthy, with the previous driver's belongings and personal information (including home address) still present, but it also harbored a potentially dangerous defect - a faulty manufactured key.
Upon reaching our destination, we encountered the first instance of a dead battery. Thankfully, we were equipped with an emergency cable, allowing us to jumpstart the car without having to rely on the unreliable roadside assistance. The journey back home was marred by a repeat of the dead battery scenario, but once again, we managed to jumpstart the vehicle.
However, the most alarming revelation came when we discovered that the car could be driven and operated without the keys being inside - a significant security flaw that was never disclosed to us during the rental process. The fact that the General Manager, DayShawn Long, confirmed this as a manufacturer issue raises serious concerns about the company's commitment to customer safety and satisfaction.
We were never informed of this critical information upon picking up the vehicle, and it was only after experiencing issues that we became aware of the severity of the situation. The General Manager's admission that this is a manufacturer issue only exacerbates our disappointment, as it indicates a blatant disregard for customer safety.
To add insult to injury, when we contacted the General Manager to address the matter, our only option was presented as paying for a replacement key. This response is utterly illogical, as the key would not require replacement had we not been rented a defective vehicle in the first place.
In conclusion, our experience with Hertz and DayShawn Long has been nothing short of a nightmare. We implore the company to take immediate action to rectify these issues, provide compensation for our inconvenience, and most importantly, ensure that future customers are not subjected to such unsafe and unprofessional practices. Transparency and accountability should be the pillars of any reputable business, and it is disheartening to see these values neglected in our recent rental experience. read more
