Nothing aggravates me more than paying for a car that I can't drive. I don't know why they even bother to give you an electric car that is not fully charged because you can't go anywhere. I rented the car for 1 day and spent the entire day charging the car. The person I worked with didn't know how to charge the car or where to charge the car. This is my first time with an electric car. I just am beyond frustrated because a ride that would have been 2 hours ended up being at least 6 hours with me having to charge the car. read more

Bad experience. It's a small location with limited cars. They prefer if you rent a car and bring it to the same location rather than going one way. You're better off going to hertz corporate location in Stamford for better cars and more comfortable experience. read more

Made a reservation a month ago for a pick up of a Full Size SUV at noon today. I called and confirmed last week and this morning. I called this am to see if I could pick up slightly early. Was told it would cost me an extra $100 so I show up at 11:55 and store is CLOSED!!! I Called 800 # sat on hold for 20 mins until someone in India picked up and told me no available rentals in the area. I was disconnected and had to call again. Meanwhile 2 other customers showed up looking to pick up those rentals only to go through the same infuriating process. Finally an hour later i secured a downgrade to a minivan and they wanted to charge me 200 more and make me pay again as the credit from SUV will take 7 to 10 days to process. WTF?? Will never use Hertz ever again unless I get a full refund plus interest on the credit card hold. Can imagine they can operate a global business this way. read more

I don't think I can rate it zero or less, but would if that option was available. I made a reservation more than a month in advance for pickup in early July this year. When we got the car (a full size SUV) that we needed for a week long trip (four total people), it was the most filthy, disgusting car I have EVER rented. It smelled like someone had been smoking in it for days on end. The windshield was so dirty in and out we had to clean it before being able to really see clearly. I complained to the one person working at this location and he said he could get it cleaned once he had taken care of other customers (five waiting in line). We did not have hours to waste so cleaned it as much as we could. Hertz is supposed to be the #1 car rental company...NOT! read more

Lena, makes the entire experience of a rental car horrible. Her coworkers said her attitude and obnoxious behavior are standard and she treats everyone rudely. Then why does she work there? Why isn't she fired? If you're adult enough to work then you need to be adult enough to conduct yourself professionally and with courtesy when you're a customer service representative. This is one of the worst Hertz facilities I have been to. I had to use their service as my insurance company has some link up with hertz. They are really really bad at their cars and rude attitude of some of their employees. I was given an Hyundai accent and this was s really bad car. All the car seats were stained so bad and also the blue tooth never worked. On top of this when we were going over all the scratches which are on the car the hertz employee was far from helping. I will never take a car again from Hertz. read more

I've been using this location for Hertz for over a year now. They have always been very helpful to me when I've rented cars. Adrien and Travis provide top notch customer service. The cars are always ready, clean and full of gas. I see most of the bad reviews are from a few years ago. If they had problems with service that is a thing of the past. read more

This was my worst car rental experience ever. I needed a one way rental from CT to WV and I decided to go with Norwalk Hertz (it was the closest location). I booked a full size car online and when I got the the Hertz facility there was no car ready for me and the choices were very limited. So the person helping me suggested an upgrade to a Dodge Charger for a $25 fee. And I agreed with the change. When I asked what the total changes will be, I was told $112.50. The car was far from good condition, it was not cleaned and all scratched on one side. When I dropped the car in WV I was told that the total charges will be $284 for a 20hours rental one way. On top of the regular charges I was charged an extra $0.30 per mile ($170). I never knew that such a charge is even possible. Because every car rental that I ever had was with unlimited miles. When I contacted the branch manager, he wasn't very helpful and he promised he will investigate. 4 days later, after daily calls from me and no call back from him, he told me that nothing can be done. A simple CORRECT explanation of the total charges before signing the rental agreement could eliminate all the frustrations. And a little willingness to help from the management will go a long way. I will never rent a car from this place again. read more

1. When I went to reserve my vehicle there was a note on the door saying that the person working there had to step out and would return soon. I had to wait almost 30 minutes. If they offer drop off service they need more than one person working at all times. 2. I chose the $2.39 / gallon price for them to fill the tank but they never explained it to me and when I returned it with 1/3 of a tank I assumed they would charge me for 2/3 of a tank but nope. Got charged for the entire tank. They should explain to customer to return the car with as little gas as possible. Frequent renters would know this policy but when I haven't rented a car in over 20 years I had no idea and would have been nice to be told. I explained it to the Manager and he said he would take $10 off of my bill but there was no credit applied. 3. The minivan I rented had several minor issues (not all lights working and a constant reminder that window washer fluid is low - even though it was full.) I would have been really upset if I had to pay for the rental (insurance paid since I was hit by another motorist.) Hope I never have to rent a car from anyone ever again. read more

Hertz shouldn't advertise that they offer complimentary pick up/drop off if they can't abide by it. This happened to me on two separate occasions. I was flexible with the time but they said that there would be no pickups those days. I understand that the site is short staffed and am not blaming the representative but I would suggest atleast appearing to be more flexible in working with customers to find a solution. read more

Hertz at Norwalk, CT: Managed by a thief and a scammer named Adrien Tucker took advantage of me after a car accident and provided me with a car that he claimed that was covered at %100 by my insurance company. Ten days after I dropped off the car, he charged my credit card $603, I called to find out why? His employees "Travis, and Will" denied him and said he is on vacation and coming back next week. After a week of hassle between the Norwalk office and and corporate customer relations, I spoke to Adrien and said there is a difference in price the insurance company did not pay and you have to carry as Copay, He admitted he lied to me but nothing he can do about and it is my insurance company's fault, which obviously was not from day one he knew how much he is getting paid by submitting the claim. In addition, Adrien failed to inform that I will pay or I need to get a cheaper car that the insurance would pay for. My insurance agent informed me that he works on commission and he had to scam customers with more expensive cars so they pay the difference and he would make more commissions. Unfortunately, i dealt with a lot of car rental agencies but Hertz and its sales associates are the worst customer service ever. Do not trust them, they will make sign and get a credit card number and rip you off. read more

I am a Hertz President Circle member and rented at the Norwalk location for the first time. I had called few times to confirm my reservation for a mini van due to a family trip I have been planning for months. I requested for a lower mileage mini van and in good working condition, etc and they confirmed that they were getting a lower mileage mini van. The day off I waited 30 minutes to pickup and then left with a very dirty minivan and to make things worst, the mini van had some tire issues and 30 minutes into the trip the steering whee started to shake and road noise was very loud. Very disappointed with the location. Our whole trip was ruined as that same day no other mini vans where available until we got to the destination 5 hours later and ended up getting an even worst mini van there with 40k miles! read more

Reserved auto had obvious safety defects, e.g. worn out damaged tires, damaged rims, etc. Rejected. Only an expensive SUV truck was available. Dirty in out, inadequately serviced, tires had only 20psi air, not 32 psi required, had transmission/steering/front end defects. Worst auto rental ever. Colleague was astonished at poor quality of rentals. Why would Hertz put unsafe autos on the road ? Worst rental experience over and that's including hundreds of auto rentals across America. read more
