Today I had the o opportunity to see great customer service. I had returned my Rent-A-Car and was waiting for my friend to pick me up so I got the opportunity to see a young man at the desk taking care of other customers who came in which happened to be two guys. They just returned their keys and said they could get the receipt in the email then two ladies came in and the whole different story. They were both rude when they didn't get their way. However, the agent never changed his tone or anything, and they were some kind of rude, and I credited him that he kept his cool with both Of the ladies, it was like the rules didn't apply to them. I reserved a car for a day. I realized that my pick up time would have to be three hours later due to scheduling, which I didn't think would be a big deal as the car is just sitting there.... I called the hertz number, they connected me with Baum (this location) I was immediately put on hold and waited almost an hour to speak to someone. I was then told they cant hold a car for that long and that i would need to call this number: 1800-654-4174 I called them and they said that if the local place cant guarantee a hold that they couldn't either as its within 24 hours...even though online it says you just need to call them. I'm not going to pick up the car at all and let them keep the money, between the wait time and this, I'm skeptical of what other junk I'll have to deal with Avoid like the plague or when covid first came out. What an absolute hassle this place is. Had a reservation for a vehicle. Arrived at reservation time and the door was LOCKED! No one to be found...phone rang and rang. And wouldn't ya know it, I was still charged and after reaching out to Expedia, I requested a refund (this was sat, so I had to wait til Monday!) and finally heard back Monday evening. This location refused to refund the "penalty " charge. Penalty?! Only penalty is the associates closing early on a Saturday instead of honoring a legit reservation. Put us a day behind schedule for our trip to Grandmas. Renters beware. ****update**** after reaching out to Expedia and having them waive the fees and refund me, I received another email saying that this location has decided to waive the penalty and issue a refund after all. They are complete scammers. You are able to rent this car "cheaply" and at under 21 but they don't mention the hundred dollars in extra fees they charge to your card even after you drop off the vehicle in great condition. There's a $200 underage fee not mentioned and if you miss a $50 toll they will charge you an extra $60 for their convenience. You'll pay an extra $400 in fees that aren't mentioned to you as you're paying or even after . A month later they charged my card $110 . For nothing. Please look somewhere else for your sake. My family rented a car at this location to travel to a wedding. Everything about the transaction was smooth and professional. The car was spotless! It was very comfortable which made the trip even more enjoyable. I'm glad they are close by in case I need them again. read more

I rented a car in Myrtle Beach at the airport. A man hit the side of the rental. I didn't buy their insurance, I was told that I was covered by my insurance from home. The person that hit me had insurance and that covered the cost of the repair however Hertz sent me a bill for $2,000 for loss of use, diminished value and administration costs. That is over 3 times what I paid for the rental and it wasn't even my fault. I was told that some rental car companies will waive these charges but not Hertz. I will never rent from Hertz again but a word to the wise, if you do, buy the insurance to cover these charges. read more

I have dealt with this Hertz location on two separate occasions now and have had no issues. I'm traveling more for work now and I see this being several more times in the future. The staff are friendly, the cars are in good shape and there is a gas station practically next door to fill the car prior to your return. My only complaint is the location itself. It's pretty much on an island in the middle of three busy roads. Can be a bit difficult to get in and out of but that isn't going to stop me from renting from here. read more

Wouldn't recommend these guys based on my experience. I reserved online one morning to pick up in the afternoon, but was told when I called an hour ahead of my pickup that there wouldn't be any cars available for six hours after my pickup time. They weren't apologetic at all and didn't offer any kind of discount until I demanded one. I don't think it's necessarily the fault of the guys at this location; car rental firms are just really poorly run. (There are better rental places in the area. Wound up getting a car at a slightly better rate from a nearby Enterprise. ...And I was able to pick up within an hour of reserving.) read more

If given the choice, please choose any other company to rent your car with. I dealt with the "manager" when receiving my rental at the collision center and I received a car that was not equivalent to the car I was getting repaired. The cruise control did not work and the outlet to charge my phone did not work. That part did not bother me. What really bothered me was when I tried to fix the situation Xzavier Bruce-Southerland (the manager) told me there was nothing they could do for me. They were quick to get me off the phone and tricked me into paying for EXTRA CHARGES. If you want HIDDEN FEES Hertz on Baum Blvd is the rental center for you. Lastly, when I called the customer service number they informed me they only take complaint by emails and it takes 7-14 business days for a response. Still waiting. I'm surprised to see all the negative reviews here, but they are pretty dated by now. Perhaps there has been some turnover in staff. I've rented for here at least ten times, and have always had an excellent experience. The staff is notably friendly and helpful, and cars have always been clean and in good condition. Checkout and return is always fast, and pleasant. It's become my favorite place to rent in the Pittsburgh area, for any company. read more

If I could give no stars I would. I was in an accident early yesterday morning rendering my car undriveable. My insurance company has a partnership with Hertz, and I have no idea why. It is over 24 hours, and I still do not have a rental car. I am losing tons of money paying for ubers to get to work which is 25 minutes away from my residence, and school at night which is another 25 minutes from work. No one has been helpful. I even offered to pay more than what insurance was covering just so I could have a car! Choose ANY other company other than this one. read more

After that, I wrote an email to the customer service to complain about it and a week passed, no response! Don't know how Hertz would keep customers. It doesn't matter if it's busy period or not, there are many problems with this location of Hertz. I've rented at this location for a year, at least 50 times, and due to my corporate policy, I have no choice. But the quality of service is, I'm sorry to say, atrocious. And I've written to corporate but no response. Just feel that they don't really care. 1) as a gold member, many other locations have cars ready and selected. However, you're lucky if your car has been assigned at the time you arrive. They have told me that during busy times, they are unable to. However, I've arrived at 8am (assume this is a busy period) and at 10am, or at 2pm, and their batting average for having a car ready is perhaps 1 in 10 at best. 2) there may be 6 people in the gold line, but they don't really look to see who's arriving first. So consequently, I've been the second in the gold line, but passed by the agent who ends up serving a non gold customer who arrives later than me. What's the advantage of being a gold customer, if you don't get served first, the car isn't ready, and I have to wait for customers whose information may take 5 times longer to be input into the system? 3) this is partly my fault, but I've forgetten my phone in the car upon return, but the phone never turned up. 4) whether it's busy or not, the line to return the car may be long. Consequently, you have to walk from your car return to the terminal a long ways in the dark (the parking is badly lit which also contributes to easily not seeing what is left in the car). 5) the agents are not professional. They do not make you feel important as a customer, but just another one of those customers. I actually prefer efficiency over chit chat, but when your turn finally comes and the agent just cocks your head to indicate that their ready for you, you question how important you are. 6) this may be a union rule or an internal rule, but when there are many customers waiting and you see employees leaving the desk to take a break, making comments like "see you in a few, need a break" I don't consider this as being professional. So if you're a business customer and have a choice of other rental agencies, try them a few times, but unless they improve the service, it's difficult to justify staying with them. read more

Hertz on Baum Blvd is really awful. Do not rent a car from them. I rented cars for them at least 7-8 times because I had to travel to interviews and did not have a car at the time. I had no other choice because they are walking distance from where I live. Here are my complaints: 1.) The last time I rented a car, the gas tank was only HALF full. Can you believe that? They supposedly did a full "check" before giving me the car, but they somehow did not check to see how full the tank was. Of course I had to fill the tank prior to returning the car so that they would not charge me boat loads of money. Irresponsible. 2.) One lady who works at the front desk is rude. She kept pressuring me to purchase expensive car insurance. When I told her no thank you, she KEPT pressuring me over and over again. That is just bad customer service. A customer has a right to their decision, and if they say no once, you have no business to push them. She really needs to learn how to talk to customers politely. Reading the other reviews on this website, my points here are reinforced. In spite of this really cold weather right now, I will be using Enterprise to plan my next trip this weekend, even though I will have to walk and take the bus in this freezing weather. read more

Staff does not know what they are doing - either that or they blatantly lied to my face. Reserved an intermediate car for three weeks. Called day before to confirm the car was available and they said it was. When I got there they gave me a compact car. When I questioned them they tried to tell me it was a midsize! Not only did they not give me the car I reserved, the tried to tell me the car they gave me was an upgrade! I told them I wasn't happy with the car, and they said they didn't have anything else available, and to go to the airport to trade it out. I made the 30 mile drive to the airport only to be told that they didn't have any more cars, and the guys at the Hertz I picked it up at should have called before they sent me out there. I don't know if this experience was from ignorance, laziness, or just pure inconsideration for their customers, but I would NEVER recommend this hertz to anyone, and from now on will be taking the extra drive and paying the extra money to rent from the airport. read more

This is my 3rd trip to Pittsburgh, but the first time renting car at this location. When I saw the previous reviews, I was a little worried. However, this location works best so I decided to give it a try. It turned out to be one of the best car rental experiences that I've ever had! The agents were friendly and helpful. I somehow had the car booked at a wrong location, they got it fixed and honored the rental rate that I had on-line. Adjusted the days of rental that I needed and in the end, refunded me the "buy the full tank gas in advance" cost because I had the car fueled up before I return the car. No complains, no complications. I will definitely rent cars from this location again! read more
