I had an extremely disappointing experience with Hertz in Pittsfield, MA. I drove over an hour to this location with a confirmed reservation, only to be told by Nicholas & Julie that the vehicle I reserved was not available. We all confirmed that my reservation existed, yet instead of honoring it, I was offered a different vehicle at a substantially higher rate. This felt like a classic bait-and-switch situation, which is unacceptable. Rather than providing a comparable vehicle at the confirmed price, I was told they might have something available in "a day or two" and that they would call me when ready. Considering I live over an hour away, this was already extremely inconvenient. When they eventually called, I answered and could hear that someone was on the line, but no one spoke. I had just finished another call moments before, so I know my phone was working properly. Instead of handling the issue professionally, they blamed me for the failed communication. To make matters worse, Julie was extremely rude and told me that if I did not arrive by the next morning, the replacement reservation would not be guaranteed -- despite the fact that my original "guaranteed" reservation had already not been honored. At no point was I offered: A comparable vehicle at the original reserved rate A temporary replacement vehicle Any meaningful customer service or accommodation for the inconvenience The staff's handling of this situation was unprofessional from start to finish. Just rented car 4 hours ago I had a family illness and are returning the car two days early to airport since we are leaving suddenly..since it was pre-paid no refunds whatsoever! Ridiculous.. I have been going back and forth with Hertz to get a $ 623 hold on my debit card released after the car has been returned since November 22. They made the initial mistake of putting such a large hold on my account because my insurance was getting charged directly. It should have only been $ 50. They claim there is no hold from there side and just keep suggesting it's on my banks side. My local bank manager has been on the phone also with Hertz numerous times and so far it sounds like I will get Hertz's hand out of my wallet the 31 December . That's 6 weeks them holding my money while everything is completely paid already by my insurance. Thieves is what they are. read more

Hertz car rental is absolutely the worst car rental company we have ever dealt with! Over changed me for the size vehicle plus an extra day I did not rent. Then, they charged me more than they quoted and never sent me a receipt despite my 3 requests! Customer service both over the phone and in person was insulting! We got the manager's special, and they gave us an EV to drive 300+ miles from Pittsfield to Maryland! Super cool car, but not good for driving long distance. Not only that but they just gave us the keys and said "bye" no explanation of how to use an EV. The woman behind the counter was awful. Bad attitude, rude, slow. I've come here before and had a great experience. Th is woman ruined it. I will never come here again. Use this business at your own risk. AWFUL! read more

Geez since with this Covid stuff I have been sitting down after a long needed review of different places that have been exceptional that I have neglected so please forgive me for the delays. I had a major issue at Bradley airport between what I was quoted online and reserved and the price I was given at the desk. Well I had an issue as it was almost 30 bucks more or so. The manager Carl was extremely accommodating and professional and gave me a very fair deal on the final price I ended up paying. It was even a bit less than originally quoted. Thank you Carl and all the people at the Pittlfield Hle location. Very personable and human. I felt heard and not like a number. Sad considering this location is only a very small hertz. It is more of an automotive repair that runs an very small rental area. But they were way better than the dedicated hertz place at Bradley Int. read more

I went to rent a car this past Sunday from this location. They confirmed with me that they would have a full-size car by email confirmation, after I placed my reservation. When I arrived they did not have any full-size sedan. They offered me an SUV however I was not comfortable driving the SUV because I needed to park in small spaces throughout my 1000 mile trip. I asked if he had something smaller that was a sedan and he said that they had a Sentra (midsize). I brought the car back and I was informed that I was charged for the full price of my original reservation for a full-size sedan. I asked the gentleman that checked me in initially why he didn't edit the price to reflect the car that I was driving (a midsize that is cheaper) His response was "because you didn't want the upgrade we charged you the full price regardless". The price difference was $50-$100 between the cars for the week, yet he offered me a $15 refund. There were two other workers in the office at the time. I asked if one was a manager they told me "don't worry about it we're on lunch don't ask us any questions." Very rude. I will never rent with these people again. I would not recommend it if you want to experience competency while renting a vehicle. It's sad that they would risk repeat business over $100 or less. The only positives about this were that the car was clean and ran well and smelled fine. read more

Last spring I had an excellent experience with 'Carl Z', who was incredibly helpful and nice. I had been given a car that was smaller than what I had requested in Stamford CT (I was helping a family member with an injury and needed a more spacious interior to transport him comfortably). Carl found us an awesome smooth-riding car, made it simple and easy to do the exchange -- all in all I felt I got a great value for the week. Staff was very unprofessional. Car was dirty and smelled like an old vacuum bag . the windows were filthy and I could barely see out the side windows. Pot seeds were in the driver side door grip little pocket. Never asked if we wanted a transponder for tolls. The Philadelphia rental did ask us 2 weeks previously. I guess she didn't think anyone in Pittsfield drives anywhere outside the county. When I get an email 2 weeks later saying my $8 in tolls were being charged I was annoyed considering the car was $896 a week ,but to see the convenience fee was $12 I felt I should leave a review. Enough with Hertz . Never again. I should also say it means absolutely nothing to have or make a reservation online. When you get there ( at any location) they don't have record of it . I travel frequently and rent vehicles each time. Never again Hertz . You've gone way down hill. I know help is hard to find but at least train the ones you have instead of all gathering around the one female ( we won't bother telling you about that one) and on their phones. read more

The employee that assisted me seemed annoyed at my existence, which fine ok we all have bad days. Then after the fiasco of confirming my reservation and running my card, the employee backed my car out of the garage gave me the keys and walked away without another word. Ok. So I get in the car and see there is almost no fuel in the tank, no problem I will stop and fill it. I finally arrive at my destination and open the back door to find loose m&ms that have been left on the seat. I then looked a little closer and realized this car has most definitely not been cleaned prior to being rented. After walking around the car (which admittedly I should have done before driving away) I find multiple dings and sizable damage to the grill. There was also a camping chair in the trunk so if anyone is missing that... Anyhoo the car gave me absolutely no troubles in my two week rental so that was a success. I returned the car after hours with the drop box. All in all I would avoid using this location again if at all possible. It got the job done but was by no means a smooth or enjoyable process. I do want to add that the other employee working while I was there had a great attitude and was extremely helpful and personable with customers. read more

The worst rental experience I've ever had, I was given an unsafe vehicle with an expired inspection sticker, I called and the worker was so careless and seemed to not want to do her job,my information was entered in the computer wrong so when I went to switch out my vehicle at another location I couldn't get a suv which I had paid for and was given a regular car. When I called back again the girl was so rude and passed the phone off to the useless manager who was also rude and helpless and also seemed like he didn't want to do his job.I was given an automated number to call and get my refund which wasn't even the right number for my issue, extremely frustrated as I was on vacation with my family we Just had to deal with the car given, however upon returning the car Eric.s was there to save the day he apologized and immediately began assisting me was extremely helpful and had phenomenal customer service unlike the others I spoken too he most definitely should be the face of this location, if it wasn't for his help and service I would never rent from this location again thank you so much Eric!! We had a last minute emergency need for a car. We called another rental company, and they couldn't pick us up until the next day, but Hertz was able to pick us up within ten minutes. The driver was friendly and drove safely. The employees at the rental location were helpful and personable. The car was clean and ran well. read more

TERRIBLE TREATMENT!I had arrived earlier than expected, and there were many cars in the parking lot. I wasn't greeted when I entered the building, though three employees were in plain sight talking to each other. A gal came up to the counter who I wasn't quite sure if she was an employee because how poorly dressed and un kept she looked, and I gave her my information, and she couldn't have looked more miserable. She quickly told me the price of the car was double what I reserved it for, and when I asked why, she just said I was too early (admittedly, 2 hours early)and I could either pay the doubled price or sit for two hours, and when I asked if that was the best she could do, she snapped back "Yes, that's it". So I asked if we could at least get my info going so I could get the car, and upon handing her my license and debit card, she quickly told me that she wouldn't accept them because they were both out of state. I've never had this issue before. An older guy finally comes out of the back room and quickly accuses me of trying to commit fraud, and the girl quickly agreed with him. I told them that they had no reason to treat me that way, and even mentioned I've rented from that exact location before and they must have a record. The guy responded with "if you don't like it, there's an Enterprise rent a car down the road, but good luck getting a car last minute." I have never in my life been so insulted by total strangers who clearly have no business being in customer service. Because of the treatment I received from them, I will never use Hertz again, and tell everyone I know to not use them, all because of two terrible employees. I did in fact, end up going to Enterprise, where they welcomed my business with open arms and fantastic service. I will never use anyone else but Enterprise in the future, and they have those two garbage employees to thank for it. read more
