Didn't have my car. Apparently at Enterprise you have to make a reservation but then call the day before to make sure they actually have a car for you. Went to pick up my car 2 hours before I needed to drive to BDL and they didn't have it. They asked if I received a call from them the day before confirming they didn't have cars and I said I hadn't. Then they said that's because they didn't have contact info for me. Of course I've rented from them multiple times over the past 2 years. Went down the road to Hertz and got a car in less time than it took for these guys to look up from their computer screen to tell me they didn't have a car for me. read more

I feel kind of bad because the guy who eventually ended up helping me was super helpful and nice, but everything leading up to that was a nightmare. Two separate times I scheduled a time to pick up a car. The first time I took an Uber only for them to literally just shrug and say "sorry, we don't have a car for you in stock". I went there to extend my rental another week. My card was declined due to a bank error (I had to reprint a card since it went missing) and I was told I would have to wait 24 hours to try that card again despite having called the back and fixed the issue. The manager went outside and ripped the keys out of the car telling me "we have to repossess the car now because you can't pay" which stranded me in the middle of Pittsfield, alone with my toddler son, over an hour from home. The staff at enterprise was extremely unhelpful, condescending, and left me with a very stressful experience. Fortunately they had a driver available which was able to drive me to Wendy's, after spending a half hour in the lobby trying to call myself a cab so I could feed my son, but I then had to spend $45 to get an Uber home from a stranger. Enterprise treated me terribly and worked to make me feel like a criminal that was trying to steal a car from them. I will never, under any circumstances, ever rent another vehicle from Enterprise for as long as I live. Absolutely terrible. I have been a customer of Enterprise for years and always had great experiences (except for a minor one a few years ago) BUT this go around was quite frankly embarrassing for Enterprise. The area manager Daniel Pellitier is not fit to be a manager and should be replaced--- Enterprise should also rethink how they handle existing customers with GREAT track records. Because I was treated like absolute garbage for actually caring about my relationship with Enterprise. I was belittled, threatened, and bullied by the area manager and my customer issue could've been handled much differently if he had half a brain or even half the skill of communication. I risked my life to BEND OVER BACKWARDS for this company--- all they cared about was their car and money and not one care about the safety or wellbeing of their customer. I called and was treated like CRAP for being honest and seeking temporary help and understanding from a manager so I wouldn't be stranded or unsafe. And it's funny how I call about a customer issue and I'm harassed. BUT I have a vehicle that's overdue right now and not ONE person has called me, emailed, or harrased me for a WEEK from a Springfield IL location (because I had to get back home after the BS Daniel put me through ! It's been overdue by a WEEK and no one cares!?? But I was threatened with 24 hours with the last rental when I called to say I was gonna be late. I'm late with this rental because I reserved a car for Thursday at 8:30 AM, well last minute, Springfield calls to say they don't have a car for me until the afternoon... okay well I need to get back home and I'm NOT RUSHING so by not having the vehicle for me it delayed my trip and unfortunately for enterprise they close early on Saturday. But I didn't hear from anyone after not returning it on Saturday so I said to myself hmmm that's interesting that nobody gives a f**** let's see how long these idiots wait to contact me--- I haven't heard a DAMN THING FROM ANYONE I needed to get back to MA and I needed to get back safely... in a timely manner, because Daniel and bogus policies screwed up my whole entire vacation/Christmas/New Years... left me depressed for weeks after sleep deprivation from being threatened to get the car back in an UNREASONABLE TIME--- considering my situation, that Daniel was too dumb to fathom, and e could've avoided this entire thing if Daniel could've assisted me with a LOGICAL and safe solution. Anyways, I was sleep deprived from squeezing a 4 day trip into 48 hours, sleeping in the car just a few hours at a time so I could keep driving--- I slept MAYBE 8 hours within those 48 hours and I am PISSED. I went above an beyond for a piece of crap company that I once loved so much so that I went out of my way to bring donuts to one of the Lubbock Texas offices when I wasn't going to be renting for a while. No one from corporate has contacted me about this current rental. It's literally sitting in my driveway. Daniel I'm sure has lied to cover his a** because when he called me a few weeks ago to tell me "well we usually don't do this (unblock accounts) but because you're being nice i can do that for you." I was very upset and shocked to hear the employee of enterprise rent a car denying the fact that he was not at the office when I arrived half hour ahead of time for my confirmed rental! I was abandoned in middle of nowhere at night without a car! And I had two hours to go to my destination! I begged for a ride from a friend that drove 2 hours to pick me up! When confronted with the employee, he blamed me and said"my word against yours" and continued to say he'll check the cameras and that I'm not telling the truth!!!!!! I asked him to please check the camera and that I, too, have receipts of 6 phone calls to The office during his working hours that he did not answer! They are the worst branch, and have the absolute worst customer service I have ever experienced in my life. I have had a reservation for a family vacation for months. I called 5 days ahead to be sure the car would be available. They told me no problem and I was so kind as to say I did not need at right at noon and could come later in the afternoon. I have spent 4 hours trying to get through to them and finally got a girl on the phone named Kelsey who said I didn't have a reservation, yet I had called Monday and had a reservation number available. She came back on the line to tell me, 3 hours before leaving on a family vacation, sorry no cars for you. Not sure if she thought I should have said ok thank you no problem but she didn't try to help, offer to call another branch, absolutely nothing. Merely continued to say too bad no cars don't know what to tell you. So of course, when this is ruining my entire trip, I got upset she got her feelings hurt and put her manager on the phone who said he wouldn't rent to me. I went to pick up a rental car which I had reserved and the manager refused to rent me the car because credit card is in my husbands name(I'm an authorized user on the card) I offered her my debit/credit card in my name only and she also refused because she said it had debit on the card and would need to be credit card only. Robert should be the manager here. This is the rep you want up front for your company. It was upsetting to find out that since he never got a bachelors degree he would never be able to mange. He is now a senior citizen and lovely one at that. This company should make an exception to their policy in this case especially since he's been working there for over 6 years. Meanwhile, a young (ditzy) (pretty) woman is in charge. Well, regardless, Robert gave me 5 star service; and as luck had it he was my guy, so my experience was 5 star. Robert came and picked me up super timely, 11.5 miles away (father than the 10 miles policy) he drove nicely and normally. He followed the speed limit and all road rules and I felt completely at ease (which is not normal for me). When we got back to Pittsfield he had me in and out in under 10 mins. What more can you ask for? Edit: Called back, needed to return the truck somewhere other than Pittsfiled. Turns out most NYC locations do not take pickup trucks. DO NOT ALLOW ONLINE RESERVATIONS IF you will only turn the CONFIRMATION OF A RESERVATION into a 'sorry but that rental you just reserved actually isn't available'. A professional response would be to totally prevent online requests, instead asking customers to call to determine your actual availability. Two separate weekend confirmations have now turned into denials. The first was an unprofessionally delayed response; we showed up on site only to learn our confirmation meant NOTHING. At least rental attempt #2 resulted in a phone call saying that the online confirmation was another false positive. Get it together ERAC of Pittsfield - you can do better. read more

Over the course of 8 months, I rented about a dozen cars from this store in Pittsfield. Service in general was poor to average. The car selection wasn't very good but expected to be so in a small town. The last car I rented was so dirty, and out of gas, that I had to clean the inside windows just to drive safely. read more

Earlier reviews have said it - but another, more recent one is (over) due. The agent, Robert (Bob), whom I'd never met and do not know, put us into a car. He is a 6-7 year Enterprise employee. HE is the epitome of service. Others, young and old, can learn from him. As a 35-year veteran Human Resources professional for large corporations, I'd like to think I know what it takes to identify talented people who deliver superior customer service. But this isn't about me - it's about Robert ... Simply put, he greets customers with a smile and maintains that spirit throughout the entire rental transaction. He is quick, clear, thorough and correct; yet he is both pleasant and patient. His demeanor suggests he enjoys his work - not an easy role dealing with myriad public personas! - and he puts the customer first - both face-to-face and over the phone. Why do we not see this wonderful service from others at Enterprise or elsewhere in the service world? Although I can't say, Bob probably doesn't aspire to become the CEO or rich - I can assure you neither are likely to occur - but who knows? What I am sure of is that Bob comes to work each day ready to deliver superior service - no matter the pay, benefits or promotional opportunities - which may be good - or not - and probably delivers the same excellent service every day - regardless. One star was too much. I am in Lennox with my family for vacation and the weather caused our car to break down. I called and reserved a car and received a confirmation email. Half an hour later, we called an Uber and left for Pittsfield. On our way there, the manager named Brandon called and told us they did not have a car. That we should have planned better and that we could not even go to the rental location because they will not help us. I have never encountered such a rude manager while we were nothing but polite. Went on line and reserved a car to be dropped off at my house 3/16/19 by noon. I received an e-mail confirmation. I called the number on the confirmation to check and spent more than a half hour waiting on the phone. No one EVER picked up. I waited, assuming that the car would be delivered. No response by 12:30. Called again and had to use all FOUR options on the phone which I meant I had to hang up and start over each time. {They have the most annoying musak and the drivel stops every minute or so to tell you how important your call is; the phone rings, no one answers, and the whole thing starts again. Finally, trying to make a new phone reservation yielded a representative singularly unfamiliar with the English language who after not listening to me explain what I needed, told me the local operation closed at noon and that's why I couldn't get a car. I explained I had been calling since 9:30 but that was fruitless. In total frustration I finally hung up. If anyone at Enterprise ever reads these reviews [I doubt it, nothing changes], suggestions: 1. Fix the website so a local call can be made. Someone thousands of miles away can't help and is only adding to customer frustration. 2. Abide by posted hours, don't close at noon if your site says 1 o'clock. 3. Very unsatisfactory experience. Shortly after leaving this branch, I discovered a small crack in the car's windshield. Because I have rented from them many times, I called up and reported it without physically returning. Big mistake. I was assured that the damage would be noted and I wouldn't be held responsible. When I returned the car to a different location several days later, they checked with the Pittsfield location who claimed that they knew NOTHING about this. What is even more unbelieveable is that I had to call the branch over and over again and they wouldn't even return my calls. I spoke with Brett, Greg, Brian and Jamie. Clearly someone "forgot" to note my call, but the way this was handled was just completely unacceptable. As a frequent Enterprise renter, I will be contacting the corporate office about this branch. Watch out for this place!!! I rented there out of necessity and would have never gave them my business had I not had to. My grandmother was kind enough to bring me to pick up my rental while my truck was in shop. My experience started off wonderful with Tarren Soukup and her big smile greeted me and then I ended up dealing with another gentleman. I got my car and took my stuff from my grandmothers car and placed it in my rental and this is where the lying, finger pointing and straight BS began. My grandmother parked along side just passed the corner of building started backing out while I was still standing outside my rental. She gets about half way out of parking spot and stops as she saw people with kids coming out of building. She looked at me and asked me if it was clear as she didn't want to hit anyone. As I was saying Nana your good, there is no one behind you, Tarren who was parked on side of building and had been vacuuming out a customers vehicle started backing up right toward my grandmother!! I start screaming to stop as my gram was frozen in fear over my reaction to seeing this car coming toward her vehicle. Now I was pretty calm and was thinking hey this sucks but it's clearly her fault so it's just an unfortunate accident. So Tarren gets out of vehicle and looks shocked as she should and says she will be right back. Tarren gets her boss Bryan Luka who then comes out and tells me it's my grandmothers fault!!!!!! I was in shock. I told him first off you weren't here, you were inside! Bryan said, "well look sir I've seen a lot of accidents and what your saying doesn't match the damage on car. You obviously backed into each other." I'm thinking you got to be kidding. I tell Bryan again I SAW THE ACCIDENT, it was your employees fault. And then Tarren chirps in, "I was looking in the reverse camera". And I then asked her, "so you didn't look in the mirrors? That's what mirrors are for". Then Bryan goes back to blaming my gram saying, "well technically the person in the parking spot doesn't have the right away, so your gram was in the wrong". So I asked Bryan if the light was green and I made it to the middle of the intersection and stalled and his light turns green does he then have permission to ram me?!? No, that's not how it works. Well after a lot of stupid back and forth I wasn't getting anywhere and Bryan said I would have to get the police. Police come and say it's a private lot and can't do anything but take down information. Then we go into the Bryan's office where he wrote what happened in the accident on a form he had to fill out which still said the two people backed into each other. Keep in mind the only words I heard come from the actually employee was "I used the reverse camera". Tarren was not in office and this boss of hers took the entire situation over like he was in the accident himself. So I was done arguing and let Bryan write it up that they backed into each other because he wasn't going to write it any other way. Then I took the trip to my grams insurance company with her, explained the situation and said I will do whatever it takes so she is not placed at fault as I saw the entire thing from outside the car standing there and was the only witness regardless of my relation to the victim. And also stated how if it had been my grams fault I wouldn't have thought twice to say so, as I'll admit my grandmother is not the best driver in the world but she has never been in an accident in her life. Anyway, now my grandmothers insurance is fighting theirs for who is to blame in the accident which is ridiculous. The people there have absolutely no integrity and this very small accident with very minimal damage could have been solved easily by being honest and it would have changed my whole outlook on this review. I'm sad that people lie and that a business like that especially will all lie as a team and stick together over a simple little accident! Please save yourself the trouble and go elsewhere!!!! In my experience, this branch is completely incompetent and also provides terrible customer service, which means the customer isn't able to fix the problems that occur when branch employees fail to do their jobs well. As for the branch manager, Brian - watch out for that guy! He is the epitome of the rudeness and incompetency I described. I unfortunately was in a fender-bender while driving a car I rented from Enterprise, and when I called the branch to discuss coverage, Brian told me I wasn't insured despite the fact that I indicated that I wanted to purchase every available type of insurance on my initial rental agreement (and my copy, the branch's copy, and corporate's copy of my paperwork reflected this). He additionally chastised me for driving the car in such damaged condition (even though the damage was completely cosmetic and I'd immediately driven to the nearest Enterprise unit after the accident so a representative could assess the damage and tell me how to proceed). After over half an hour of this, dear Brian finally noticed that he was looking at the WRONG RENTAL AGREEMENT and had, in fact, spent a huge amount of time inappropriately and paternalistically scolding me for something that somebody else had done. It's ok, though, because he immediately found something new to scold me for: failing to contact them promptly to resolve the situation. I protested that I was a full-time student working two jobs and while that made it difficult to call them during their open hours on certain days, I HAD called after hours the same weekend I returned the car and left messages on their answering machine. Brian sneeringly told me that their office did not, in fact, have an answering machine. (Later that evening I called the number for the Pittsfield branch and discovered that they do, in fact, have an answering machine, so I left a message expressing my confusion. When I next spoke to Brian and mentioned I'd called after hours and there definitely WAS an answering machine because I'd left a message on it, he told me the answering machine was in St. Louis and he hadn't known about it until somebody in that office contacted him with regard to my message. I literally have NO idea what he meant - maybe the Pittsfield phone accidentally redirected calls to the St Louis answering machine? His explanation was a total oversight on his part if true, and if not, it was a really, really bizarre lie.) Several days after our final conversation, Brian sent my paperwork to Corporate to process my claim. Unfortunately, he either sent the WRONG paperwork or failed to include the insurance information, because I was contacted by a woman in the damages unit who was under the impression I hadn't purchased insurance. When I told her I had and she looked up the records of my paperwork, Brian's mistake became apparent. We said goodbye with the understanding that everything was settled, and I received an email from her confirming this. About a month later an insurance agent emailed me saying that while they had records confirming I'd indicated that I wanted insurance, they'd never actually received payment for it because Brian had failed to charge me for it. When I contacted the Pittsfield office to ask them to charge me for the insurance since they had my credit card on file, the representative I spoke with told me that Brian was handling the insurance company (which was not the assessment of the situation I received from the insurance agent I spoke with) and she was unable to settle the charges until Brian was in the office, since he was the only one handling my case. Long story short, I'm really frustrated and disappointed by my entire experience with the branch. Like I said, they really don't do their jobs well, the customer service is terrible, and they don't make it easy for you to fix their mistakes by resolving issues as they arise. To be transparent, I'm leaving aside this whole other issue where they had a dropbox for return keys BEHIND the building where the cars were supposed to be dropped off and because nobody told me about it, I kept the keys and left a message on their answering machine (which wasn't answered, unsurprisingly), and I was charged for an additional 5 days. If I hadn't kept my copies of all he paperwork I signed and all the emails I'd received, I'm pretty sure I'd be totally screwed right now. I'm definitely filing a complaint about Brian's behavior with corporate HR, and I strongly advise anybody looking for a rental car to avoid this branch. read more

I traveled across Massachusetts from Woburn Enterprise car rental, where the staff was helpful and courteous; to Pittsfield where I was treated like a criminal. I do not in any way recommend the staff at Pittsfield. The young man at the desk was smiling and kind, but the two white overseers were rude and offensive. The older one took the key out of my hand to "check the gas" came back and lied about how much was in the tank, and then tried to accuse me of scratching up the car. He did this without first checking the condition of the car as I received it. The younger man at the desk tried to point out it was in the original rental report but then the "manager" stormed through and said "get a copy of the pink slip." There was nothing courteous or respectful in this attitude from the two white men. I had done nothing wrong. Yes, I am also white and I am a woman and I feel angry, insulted and offended. I recently rented an almost brand new Yukon SLT for two weeks. What a fine vehicle but also I want to complement the Enterprise staff. The two people that handled my rental needs were quick, efficient, polite and business like. I understand there can be frustrations in renting. My experience was these are dedicated and hardworking employees trying to accommodate a very diverse public in often stressful circumstances such as insurance rental situations. The deserve respect and appreciation. I thought the staff was very dedicated and did everything within reason to get me into my vehicle as quickly as possible and the checkout and check-in process was really quick and easy too. I usually rent elsewhere, but the hours were not conducive to my car repair (no fault accident repair). My rental was not found in the books, as it was misfiled under another date in the future. Once found, I was befuddled that they wanted to put a hold on my personal credit card. I resisted, as we do not use credit, but they insisted it had to be done, even though this was arranged, and will be paid for, by my insurance carrier. Upon getting to the car, damage was not noted by the rep, I had to point it paint damage. The gas tank was marked full, but it was between two marks. After leaving the driveway, one rear tire was flashing as low pressure (5-6 lbs less than all the others.) I turned around and returned to be met outside by another rep who appeared to be a manager. I told him my two concerns and he marked 3/4 tank on my copy only- which could be argued that I changed the form- and was really dismissive about the tire. He stated he took the car out yesterday and the pressure rose as he drove it. I reinstated my concern that there was such a large discrepancy to the other tires, and he said it was just the cold air, even though I again asked "for only this tire and not the others?" He was condescending that it was normal for only one tire to behave this way- but that still doesn't settle with me. It is not my first experience with temperature changes with tire pressure and sensors, but definitely my first experience with one tire only being affected. He assured me that if it becomes an issue, they will bring me over to firestone to fix it.. not realizing this is 2 days before thanksgiving, and with work and school, unplanned repairs are NOT on my radar on a rental while my car is in the shop. The lights are still flashing on the dash, though the pressure went up one lb. Needless to say, I still have the car for a few more days, and with the feedback on yelp, I am not looking forward to returning the car without an expected hassle. I have never had any issues renting or returning from Hertz or ever made to feel stupid about my car knowledge. I will make the extra effort and rearrange my schedule next time to use them if I have to rent and avoid this stress. read more

I had the worst rental experience EVER at this location in Pittsfield. I rent all the time from Hertz and Avis but I had to use Enterprise to get from the train station in Hudson NY to Pittsfield. I needed another car for 10 days afterward and since I had to drop the car anyway, I decided to give Enterprise in Pittsfield a try. The employees in Pittsfield were rude and acted like I was doing them a favor. So I drove across town to Hertz. What a difference. I got a much better car for less money. But then when I went to drop the original Enterprise car ... they were clearly annoyed I had rented from Hertz. So they made a huge deal over a small scratch on the car I was dropping off. It was on the car when I picked it up in Hudson and was so small, the team there made note that it wasn't an issue.
