Similar to an earlier negative review they claimed I damaged a vehicle when I did not, my word against theirs. If you must rent from them, Make certain you thoroughly document the condition of your vehicle before renting. They are understaffed so there was no one to check my vehicle in when I returned it, CRAZY, I should have known better. They fly a Hertz banner but but seem to be a franchisee of some type. Why does it matter? because I tried to call Hertz customer support to contest my claim, Hertz Corp, couldn't help me because they were not part of their system and now you're back trying to deal with the Pullman people who made the bogus and false claim in the first place. I am a frequent renter of Hertz, so fly into Spokane and rent there, expensive lesson learned ! read more

I have never felt a need to write a 1-star review on a place until going to this Hertz. I wish I had read the other negative responses here before booking, and I hope you save yourself time, money, and trouble by doing the same. When arriving with my family at this Hertz in the Pullman Airport during posted operational hours on Christmas Eve, no one was around their area even though the lights were on and the back office door was slightly open. I had to ask someone working at the airport about what to do, and they referred me to a number that was on a piece of paper on the Hertz desk in small print. After at least 3 phone calls to that number and almost 30 minutes later, a woman finally answered. We had booked our pickup for noon, and though we had arrived at 3 pm, it was absolutely within Hertz's stated policy that this would be no issue as long as the rental was picked up on the same day before closing time - again, which was stated as 6:30 pm. This makes sense, because planes and people are obviously late and don't show up exactly on time for car rentals every day. The woman on the phone line immediately asked if we were the 11 am pickup. I told her we were the noon pickup. She said that it was Christmas Eve and they closed at noon. What? She then claimed that her staff had even stayed longer for an extra hour, but we were a no-show. There was no indication, not on emails and definitely not in the office, that they closed at noon that day (which by the way would have meant they were only open for 1 hour if they opened at 11 am). I explained that their office hours stated that they would be open until 6:30 pm. I understand earlier closing times because of Christmas Eve, but as a travel company, even in a small airport, you would expect them to stick with the posted hours that were advertised to us. Despite trying to explain further, our family was left with no car rental on Christmas Eve - but we were charged in full for the rental we were not allowed to pickup. After many hours of trying to plead our case to both Hertz and Hotwire that we were denied service because this Hertz was not open during its advertised hours, neither would budge and provide a refund. Even if they mistakenly forgot to update their operational hours, they never truly tried to correct the error and treat us as customers that they actually cared about. In reading other comments, it seems like this type of bad business is common. I would highly recommend renting anywhere else. read more

If you have another option do not rent here. Understaffed, cars packed in, rude office staff, overcharged. I travel for work, booked a car through corporate travel, and first had to wait for a long time for an agent to come in, then had to come back in and wait for him to be free to move a car out of the way to get my car out of the space. Wasted a good 45 minutes just trying to get a car that should have been ready to go. (Keep in mind I am a gold member here, rent from Hertz all the time). A few hours later I get a call from a woman in the office asking me to return the car because the rental agent "gave me the wrong car". I was already hours away and was on a business trip, traveling to another city and was not going to turn around due to their mistake. I had a family emergency and ended up having to return the car to a different city than the one on the contract and they charged an astronomical fee to do so. My $134 rental turned into $550 for a rental that was 28 hours long, simply because I returned to a different city than was on the contract. I have been renting cars for business for decades and have never had this happen. Since this is a "franchise" location Hertz can do nothing about it. My advice: never rent from Hertz in Pullman if you have another option. Also make sure when you are renting in rural areas that the agency is nationally owned, not franchised if possible or you will have no recourse for situations like this. read more

Complete scammers. Claimed there was damage on the car that was my responsibility and it wasnt. I'll own up to my mistakes but someone there didn't do their job, and pinned the damage on me that someone else had created. I've used Hertz every time I've come into town for work which is multiple times a year. Not anymore and I sincerely suggest anyone reading this to call Enterprise or use Avis instead. read more

I want to say I NEVER write reviews for anywhere or ever have felt the need. This wasn't my first choice based on the reviews for where to rent a car but the reviews proved true. I rented through insurance which covered everything but I have been harassed with threats of debt collection multiple times because they refuse to work with my insurance and want to bill me directly even after my insurance has paid every bill they send me. All the while only receiving word via "final notices" asking for more money instead of any communication via phone or email first. Baffled at their lack of respect and professionalism. Never again will I rent here and I will never recommend this place. read more

I took one for the Yelp team here, Their hours are very unusual (small airport with few flights) so pay attention and make sure you return your car when they are at the counter, don't just drop off the keys and the paperwork in the box. Remember to ask for your rental fees in writing when picking up the car. When they are rattling off the options, ask for an estimated total, in writing. I'll absorb the doubled fees as tuition on never doing business with them again (a call to the company was not helpful). Remember, I paid that money so you wouldn't make the same mistake. read more

If no stars were a choice that is what I would've chose. This Hertz is not the corporate Hertz. This Hertz is privately owned. I'm not sure why they get to use that Hertz name but I think it is wrong because they are giving Hertz a bad rep. They make up their own rules. They charge outrageous prices. They are rude and get away with way too much of overcharging people. I rented a vehicle for the weekend. I was not charged the weekend rate but rather a daily rate of $145 a day. And even though I dropped it off on Sunday, because they were closed, I was charged an extra day because they could not check it in till Monday. I was charged $515 for two days. And this is not the first time they have overcharged me and have been rude to me but it will be the last time. I would advise you to use Enerprise, they have a store in Pullman, you can call them and they will come pick you up free of charge and their prices are way way cheaper. Their vehicles are cleaner and their service is much better. read more
