Came in to get a car rental that was prearranged by a body shop I was dealing with. I waited 40 minutes for somebody to wait on me with only one couple in front of me turned out. The lady at the counter was busy vacuuming out the car for the couple in front of me With me and other customers waiting. If you're in need of getting a car quickly, you might as well give it up at this place because they're in no hurry to serve you. To top that off my car was not completely full of gas and I let them know as I was driving off that I only had 3/4 of a tank. Then the car that I got has a broken turn signal that goes constantly pretty annoying and I just didn't feel like going back and dealing with them anymore. I was refunded the insurance, but then was changed anyway for one day rental 5 days after the fact. When I finally got through to the 1-800 customer service line, the gal hung up on me after I asked her to slow down and annunciate so I could understand what she was saying. Previous to that, I called the store directly and was just put on hold forever. This review is for the Tucson location on Ina Rd. I'm now on hold again with the 1-800 line. If I could give zero stars I would. I have rented several cars over the years for vacations and this Hertz location is simply the worst around. It started off with an agent that seems to not care about communication or caring to communicate clearly. Many times myself and others asked him to repeat himself as he was speaking such a slang language that it was hard to do business. My vehicle had a half a tank of gas, beware when being told that you have to return it at the same level it is when you pick it up because this is simply not true as per the rental agreement. I was told that it would "be adjusted" and it was not. Luckily for me I read the agreement and returned it full, washed AND vacuumed. The location that I was to drop it off at was closed on my drop day and the agent assured me that as long as I was there at 7:30 AM on Monday that I would not be charged. When I arrived at 7:20 there was a note on the door explaining that the agent had to leave to pick up a car at the repair center and a phone number to call. I called twice 5 minutes apart and it was sent to voicemail. Do not put your number on the door if you are not willing to answer it. I was checked in at 8:05 and when I questioned the charged the agent told me that I did not put the key in the drop box so I was late. This resulted in an additional hold on my credit card and a late charge. Kudos to Hertz Corporate office for taking care of this. I would not recommend renting from this location unless you are ok with being lied to, not having your vehicle fully ready when you arrive and are ok with being over charged. read more

I rented a car here today. The car had cigarette burns holes in the drivers seat. The front and back windshield were dirty. It reaked of cigarette smoke. I am allergic to smoke so this is a problem. Not expecting this, I needed the car to drive to Phoenix from Tucson. No time to get another car. I told agent and she said they didn't have any other cars available. I recently rented a car from Hertz and had a terrible experience. When I went to pick up the car,there was no cars after I had a reservation. Was ask to go some else, after saying Inwill wait for a car. I was given a disgustingly dirty car inside and out with the maintenance light on. The seats were covered in stains, there was garbage all over the floor, and the windshield was covered in grime. When I complained about the condition of the car, the Hertz representative tried to upsell me to a cleaner car for an additional fee. Double of what I was already paying. I was annoyed and felt taken advantage of - why should I have to pay extra to receive a clean car that should have been provided to me in the first place? Overall, my experience with Hertz was extremely disappointing, and I would not recommend them to anyone looking to rent a car. They clearly do not prioritize the cleanliness of their vehicles and are more interested in making an extra dollar off of their customers. Steer clear of this rental company if you're looking for a hassle-free experience. I was also told by the the weekend worker please don't tell nobody I gave you a dirty card because we won't get paid our bonuses. I also contacted the manager who said there was nothing he could do however he would talk to his district manager to see what she could do and he would give me a call back. They won't let me give them 0 stars. They're terrible. We booked a car through Expedia for a 2 week rental, went and got it and they didn't even walk out to the car with us to look it over. That was the first time that had ever happened to us with a rental. We took photos of the car, inside and out, before leaving and went to ask if they needed to look the car over and to tell them the car was dirty. There wasn't anyone inside. We waited a few minutes and just left. On the first couple hundred miles of our drive we got 2 warning lights on the dash: check engine oil, and low windshield washer fluid. I checked the engine oils life on the dash and it was at 2% oil life. Out of worry that something would go wrong and they would charge us for it, we decided to turn the car around and return it. We drove all the way from Texas in one day!! The next morning we called hertz and they informed us that we would have to go through Expedia to get our refund for it. Called Expedia and they said the opposite. And that we would have to return the car before hertz could give them an invoice to start the refund process. So we contacted hertz informed them of this, and we returned the car. Then hertz said they couldn't tell us how much we would be refunded but it would be prorated for the days we didn't use. Left and contacted Expedia again, and they said it would be a few days. Fine. But why did Expedia send us an email denying our refund? Because both companies are thieves and stole our money, that's why. I am so sick and tired of the bulls**t runaround that both companies made us do for a problem they forced us in to. If they provided a car that was clean and safe to drive we would never have been in that situation to start with. Hertz tried to explain to us that the car was actually not due for an oil change for an additional 2000 miles even though the light was coming on. How am I supposed to know that? There was no communication or window sticker to indicate that. They also told me that they could've arranged an oil change if I needed that. Why is that my responsibility? I should never be in that situation to start with. No windshield washer fluid is a safety hazard. I could've gotten something on the windshield that smeared and couldn't get it off bc of the low fluid. So they don't care about people's safety? They didn't wipe down or vacuum the car. We are still in Covid times people. I don't want someone else's sneeze and snot juices on or in the car that I just paid for. Not safe and just disgusting. Hertz needs better standards. They gave a 2 week car rental to me with 2 % oil life. You don't know where I was going. How does this make logical sense? Both Expedia and hertz are terrible and don't care about their customers or their safety. They also like to rob them of their money even though we tried to make sure the car was ok for their company's sake. Don't rent from hertz and the Ina road office in particular. This place has THE worst customer service I've ever experienced. I paid for a car via Expedia. Money was taken out of my account and everything. I booked with a Hertz that was half mile from the car repair shop my vehicle was being serviced at. Less than 20 mins before my pick up time, I got a call to say that location was shut down and that I'd have to go 8 miles to their other location. But - and I don't blame them for this part due to coronavirus - they couldn't come get me. So I pleaded with my car repair guys to take me there. Was dropped off. Gave them my card and ID and they said my credit was too bad and I had two of their workers basically gang up on me to shame me about how bad my score was. I told them put a deposit on my card if needed, I just need the car. They refused. I was then stuck there until car repair guys could come and get me. I have NEVER had an issue renting a car before. Ever. Even with my debit card being run as credit (which they could've done but refused). So now I'm out almost $40 since they took my $$ per Expedia and they have to cancel it from their end which wasn't done. These guys are criminals. Don't go here. read more

I was on hold for 45 minutes on their 1800 number to find a solution leveraging their airport location that had longer hours only to be told they would charge me A LOT more for a problem that was caused on their end. When I picked the car up it had not been cleaned at all. There were empty boxes and food throughout the car. The windows were very dirty and interior had not been cleaned. One week later the car left me stranded when the battery died. It was due for maintenance soon according to the warning on the dash. Hertz roadside assistance advised me not to stop and get gas after the car was jumped and go straight to the airport rental car place and not turn the car off. I did what I was told and was charged for gas because I did not return the car on a full tank. I will NEVER rent from this location or Hertz ever again. read more

Try National or Avis - this location deserves a 0 stat rating! They provided the most unprofessional experience I've had (and I traveled for business every week for 15 years so I've seen a lot). Through Hertz Copr we were directed to rent at this location. We Ubered over to the location only to be told sorry we did not have the mid-size sedan you reserved. "Can't help you" . We tried to discuss options and were told we could have a Hertz cargo van for the same price. We are meeting friends in Tucson for a wedding so a two seated walking advertisement for Hertz was not an option. The manager was even more rude than the two desk employees. Quote "We are offering you an option, you can take it or not." We chose not to and resorted to social media which I don't normally do. I have been renting from this location for the last two years now. I have never had a bad experience. All of the staff are welcoming, address me professionally, and have shown the highest level of customer service each time I go to the location. I am a road warrior, I rent every week and there is always a car and great service each time. I am not perfect and commend all of the staff for their patience, I acknowledge that I have made mistakes with my reservation dates, times etc. and they are flexible enough to make it work out Customer service is extremely important to me. The Ina road location team meets all of my requirements in this area. Reality, there a very few places I go these days where I feel valued as a customer....at the Ina location...it is guaranteed. Watch out! I have a signed receipt showing $261.39 and I just checked my card and boom $300.71 was charged AFTER my rental of 5 days was returned? Set up on a Thursday afternoon for Friday pick up due to the fact that I live almost 2 hours away and was at work at the time (no rental place in town or close by that works with insurance). Was told to call back at 7:30 (Fri), I did and told, have not gotten any cars in as of yet, please call back later. I called 3 more times, last call, they were closed 5:13 when websites states 5:30. Tried calling on Saturday at 9:30 and guess what, OFFICE CLOSED, website= OPEN. yeah right. When I picked up the car it was dirty. Dead bugs on the front grill, windshield, back of mirrors, etc. When I told Matthew, the rep who was walking around the car to check for damage, I told him the car was dirty. He said that's because it had been sitting in the lot for a couple of days. I told him the dead bugs weren't from sitting in the lot. Then he said the inside of the car is clean. I took off and washed the car at home. When I cleaned the inside of the car I found food particles under the seat and trash in the center console. By the way, there was no Hertz gold standard clean sticker on any of their cars. Fast forward to today when I returned the car. My dog had been in the car and I had a dog blanket covering the cargo area where the dog stayed. Matthew said I had dog hair in the car (I took pictures and it was very minimal) and told me I could go to the car wash to clean the car or there would be a cleaning charge. We walked to the car and I pointed out how few dogs hairs there were and he was adamant I clean the car. I reminded him the condition the car was in when I picked it up and he said he told me that I would be charged a cleaning fee if there were dog hairs in the car. I didn't have my dog with me when I picked up the car so why in the world would he tell me this when I got the car. When I said he never told me that, he said it's in the agreement. I just read the 9 page agreement and it's not in there. I had an appointment to go to, so I said I would dispute the cleaning charge and left. When I got home, I had an email receipt and they charged a $400 cleaning fee and said it was accepted. My car rental for 5 days was $329.67. I am now on hold with Hertz customer service to talk to them before I dispute the charge with my credit card company. I have been renting cars from Hertz for over 30 years and have never had an extra charge, other than for a toll. Do not rent from this location. I had a conference up in Scottsdale and my company rented a car for me. The rental car was a Hyundai Accent with no issues, full tank of gas, and the Hertz person even noted a few scratches/dents that I completely missed. Getting the vehicle was a nice and easy process, no hassle and very friendly staff. When i went to return the car, it was slightly passed the hours but luckily there was a person there late and he helped me return the car even though it was after the work hours. The return was very simple as well and I felt very bad for making the person stayed a little extra late because I needed a receipt and the printer was not being cooperative. I will definitely recommend anyone who needs a rental from here. TLDR; great staff, easy process, and fine rentals! read more

When we made reservations for a vehicle, it stated 100% cancellation up to time of vehicle pick up. We decided to cancel 48 hr before pick up only to find there's a $50 penalty to cancel! I am livid. I also found out that they charge $13+ to add a spouse to drive. I have been working with Enterprise for years. When you reserve a vehicle and need to cancel up to the day/time of pick up; there's no penalty. They also add spouse automatically. They are the BEST! read more

I also would give zero stars. The Ina Road, Tucson, AZ Hertz location is a scam, ripoff operation. Our 2 day rental started out fine, we picked up on Thursday at 4:00p, early. The agent asked if I would like to changed my return time on Saturday to 4:00p instead of 5, to avoid extra charges. After getting on the freeway, a short distance away, we noticed the gas was only 1/8 tank. Checking the paperwork, it was recorded as 1/4! Right in the middle of a hot early summer Tucson day on Friday, our A/C quit functioning. It was impossible to call the actual rental location, only corporate phone mail jails were available. So we took an hour of our time and drove to the pick up location. We got a new vehicle with A/C working... after you drive at fair speed, so not great. Once again the gas tank fuel level is recorded as 1/4 tank, when it is only 1/8 tank. We return the vehicle early on Saturday around 3p, and find the office to be closed. No hours for Saturday are posted on the door, but Sunday is listed as closed. We end up having to pay $100 from our $200 deposit, in addition to our rental price, no explanation, no receipt. When we try to look up our rental code on the Hertz website, it say it can't be found. Scam! Avoid! read more

An absolute miserable experience with this location. I pre-paid a vehicle 2 months prior to the start of what was going to be a 1-week vacation. I called 1 week prior to verify reservation. When I went to pick up my vehicle, the location had no customers and the employee was just sitting in his chair with what appeared like nothing to do. I showed my reservation, confirmed that it was prepaid and his response was "sorry, I have no cars" . I asked why and he said, "well, it is the customers fault, they don't bring back cars". I asked, "isn't it your responsibility to make sure you have inventory for existing reservations, especially if they are prepaid?" It is his response that upset me the most when he said "Hey, it aint my fault...it is the customer". Well Mr. hat wearing, Hertz employee...I guess this customer will no longer be your problem as you THE REPRESENTATIVE OF HERTZ said it is the paying customer that is at fault. This is the 2nd time my sister-n-law rented a vehicle in 3 months from this location. The first time went smooth, NOT today! As before, she went online to arrange everything a week before. We get there today. A rep, Michelle, was there to get all the paperwork in order. There was no vehicle ready. Michelle said it was out being washed. In the meantime, she hounded my sister-n-law over and over again to the point of harassment to get her to pay extra for insurance. (We all know, as long as you have good insurance, everything is covered). In fact, it's pretty much a bonus for the agent. But Michelle was relentless. Plus the car took 45 minutes before even showing up. There was a very bad smell in the car that reminded us of a skunk. However we were on a tight schedule, so we had to hit the road. The smell never went away, even after buying 2 air fresheners. When the car was returned and the agent checked the mileage, he remembered the smell from when we picked it up. Again... Michelle's behavior/ attitude and the bad smell will have us looking elsewhere for a rental. Boo Hertz!! read more

I reserved a truck almost 3 months in advance and the day we are supposed to pick up our rental they call and say they don't have any trucks available. None of the hertz locations had any trucks available that is not professional to do at all to not let your customers know in advance. No excuses, no offer of anything other than an obvious attitude of "Oh, well...it is what it is, and screw you and your plans". I booked a rental from the Ina Road Hertz through Priceline. My reservation supposedly included free cancellation up until pick-up, and I canceled the rental a few days before then. Nevertheless, I was charged for the rental. I had no luck getting a refund, despite spending a lot of time on the phone with Priceline, the national Herztz system, and this local branch. If a company accepts reservations and payments through third-party sites, they need to manage and honor the promises that those companies make on their behalf. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER! To start out, they gave me a car with a faulty tire. It was only a couple days before I had to put air in it and a week before it became completely flat. I called the INA location asking what my options were. I was given the option of either driving it all the way across town (on a completely flat tire) or having it towed. I asked if I would be able to change the flat tire myself in order to avoid having a tow. I was told no because I "wasn't authorized to do so." I then asked if I would be charged for the tow and they said as long as I didn't run anything over and the damage on the tire was not my fault I would not be charged for the tow. So this pretty much left me with the option of a tow. Upon leaving the second rental car at the auto body shop where my car was getting work done I was told hertz would give me a call later that day to close out my account. I waited a week and no call had come. So I called them and was told I would receive a call back later that day. Call never came. I called back a second time two days later and was told the same thing. After calling three times and being told I would receive the callback that never came I decided to just assume my account had been closed out. Almost two weeks after I returned the car I receive a bill from them for $92. I called to see what the bill was and I was told it was for towing expenses. I let the woman on the phone know that I wasn't supposed to be charged for that instead of looking further into the problem she blew me off and pretty much told me I was SOL. I only chose this company because they were recommended by the insurance. Now I know better than to do business with hertz. if I could give them zero stars, I would. read more
