    When we first got to this rental counter in the Tucson airport, the line wasn't that long but it was moving incredibly slowly. There were two agents and then one left, and the line kept growing behind us. From time to time someone with a tablet would come in from outside and call a name, so eventually we figured out that this was the agent checking people out and giving them the keys to their rental. I got up to the front and was greeted with an apology, had a relatively easy checkout, and was given the agent's card and name if we had any questions while we rented. Got an area guide to a few restaurants and we were sent to the waiting area to wait. It took about 45 minutes to an hour to get our car. Everybody there was nice, apologetic, etc. but we saw what the issue was - when we walked out to finally get our car. THERE WERE NO CARS IN THE PARKING LOT. They were literally waiting for cars to come back so they could turn them over and rent them out. I don't think this is the norm because when we returned the car the lot was full again. There was a bowl game in town that weekend which is probably why so many rentals were gone. Our car was fine for our trip and the best price we found for that weekend. And the return was easy. A couple days before we had to return the rental I reviewed the return info and found a mistake on the contract. The pickup time and drop off time were wrong. The pickup time was EARLIER than we actually got the car and the drop off time was marked as AM and not PM (when our flight left). I emailed the address on the business card I was given and received an apologetic email and a voicemail from the manager at that location the same day. When I dropped off the car, I showed the email address to the agent in the lot and they made sure that I wasn't charged for the extra time that was added to my rental. Everything was easy peasy EXCEPT the rocky start of having to wait so long for our rental. Oh, and the disinfectant that they use to clean the car was terrible. It took a day of driving with the windows down and wiping down the interior ourselves to dissipate it. Make sure to check your rental contract before you leave so you can alleviate any stress at the end of your trip. Also, spouses can drive the car for no extra charge! A huge plus of rental cars at the airport is that they are located AT the airport. It's so easy to find them. A great advantage to traveling to a smaller airport. Also, you can save *a lot* of money by renting the mystery car - one that management chooses for you based on what's available at the time. We had a Nissan Sentra sedan with good gas mileage. One more thing. Gas is incredibly inexpensive if you're coming from a big city. If you don't want to search for a gas station before your rental ends, splurge and pay for them to fill the tank. On the day we rented, the going rate was $2.89 a gallon!

    Rented a mini van.. Yes, a mini van! Had to pick up at the airport, customer service was ok( definitely experienced better ) I asked for a AAA discount ( nope) a super cool person discount ( nope) .. Anyhow.... After her scaring me to death about not getting insurance & a couple of other unexpected costs .... I finally went to get the van... I am definitely not a " grocery getter " fan but, this van was way cool! It had all the bells & whistles and in the end ... All was well , even though my pocket book was a lot thinner.

    Everyone else is done, but I'm still waiting in line at Alamo. This sucks.

I'm a Gold Elite member and every other airport I fly into, I simply go to the vehicle in the space indicated in the email I receive. I did the same on this trip into Tucson. I got to the car but there were no keys, so I went all the way back to the desk, stood in line and finally got my keys. Defeats the purpose of being a Gold Member. I then took my luggage out to the garage and got to the vehicle and did my customary walk-around. The window had a chip (that's a nightmare when Hertz tries to bill you for it - ask me how I know) and damage to the passenger door that I just didn't want to pay to drive (picture attached) because it looked like a second tier rental. I went back to the desk with my luggage and was given another vehicle. By this time I was running late and needed to get going. The vehicle was filthy inside and out. I've attached pictures of the outside. There were also large scratches down the passenger side. If the vehicles weren't inside a parking garage there may be an explanation but - nope. Once I started driving I saw that something had been splashed all over the dashboard and steering wheel. Totally unacceptable. I had to have the car washed the next day. Try as I might, I could never get a human being to talk to. Everything is done online or via voice messaging . Someone finally texted me and 'annotated' the damage to the passenger side and said I'd have to contact roadside assistance if I wanted a new car - which entailed waiting around for hours - I ultimately opted to just wash it an press on. I competed the survey they sent and received a 'canned' email 'we're sorry we didn't meet your expectations . . . '. I sent an email back saying that the canned email was actually more offensive than no response - they never responded. Based on this experience, I will be cancelling my account after my trip next week and will not use Hertz in the future. Their prices are always a bit high, but in the past it's been because of vehicle quality and customer care. When I asked the attendant at the airport why the damage to the first vehicle wasn't fixed, he said 'Hertz doesn't fix them - they just put them back in service'. I guess that says it all!

They tried to talk me into an "upgrade' which was a HUGE CAR that I couldn't drive so I declined and said I'd wait. They had nothing. After 30 minutes they tried to put me in a car that I couldn't even touch the pedals but my knees were against the dashboard and the steering wheel touched my legs. I pulled out and then parked. I could NOT drive it safely. They didn't care. The condescending child working there had the cajones to tell me that I need to learn how to adapt. Then he told me that they don't honor reservations and it's always first come first serve. They charged me over $500 Then I went inside and the man behind the counter was no better. Basically "sorry bro" attitude leaving me stranded at the airport. Luckily I got someone to come get me 45 minutes later but the fact that they didn't care and were so rude to me is unacceptable. I have three other reservations with Enterprise but am thinking of canceling if this is how they treat folks.

    I had an online reservation placed for business…read more I got in line after landing and walking through with a bit of signage confusion leading to here navigating from the terminal to rental car desk location at this airport. It seems that airport rental car desks, especially here, always are under staffed with employees working for multiple companies. There were only 3 employees doing contracts or paperwork for multiple rental car companies. When I finally got to the counter I was trying to provide the reservation number but she insisted my name. I gave her the info and she stated she did not have a suv as reserved. After speaking with someone she found out she had 2 suv types available. I was provided a red Jeep Wrangler. Paperwork was quickly processed, keys given, directions to locate the car was provided and we were out. The vehicle was clean but a quick over; yet dusty outside but what can I say its Arizona and very dusty. The vehicle after starting it up and driving sound very loud and needing service as a person that have had experience riding in one via rental and of personal. The experience was not overly stressful nor stress free but could be better.

    A few days ago, I went online and prepaid to rent a 15-passenger van for our nonprofit youth…read moreorganization. We have a trip to Salt Lake City coming up. My pickup was scheduled for Monday, July 27, and dropoff Monday, Aug. 3. I paid $869.06. Last night, looking through my paperwork, I realized that I was limited to 1,050 miles and it was an additional $.17 per mile over that. I had never seen that before as all rentals I have ever seen had unlimited mileage. I called Budget customer service five times today. I had to fight to get through the terrible AI each time to get to a human, which took lots of time. Each time, I got told they couldn't help me, and I needed to contact the Budget office at the Tucson Airport. The customer service reps kept giving me different phone numbers, including, eventually, one to Avis, their sister company. When the Avis rep agreed to help me, I explained that Salt Lake was a 750 mile trip each way and that I needed at least 2,000 miles. The man promptly put me on another long hold. When he returned, he said he couldn't help me. This despite me being a repeated Budget customer, and me explaining the situation regarding the trip and the mileage. I told him my group will also be renting another van in SLC. I finally asked for a supervisor. The supervisor, who also put me on a long hold, said he couldn't help me. He claimed the system wouldn't let him overriide the mileage. With that said, I told him I wanted to cancel my reservation. He said I would get a full refund. I just checked my email, and it says that I get a full refund, minus $50! This is unconsionable! We are a small, youth nonprofit and every penny matters! When he said "full refund" he didn't say minus $50. I will be disputing this matter with my credit card company. In the meantime, I went to find a rental with another company. Not only did I find a nicer van with unlimited mileage, but it was much closer to me and cost me significantly less (roughly $250) than Budget was going to cost me. Budget is blowing off customers and knows nothing about customer service or contributing to the community. I will no longer be supporting this terrible company! I would give them zero stars if I could. I highly recommend taking your business elsewhere for a better deal with people who care about people, rather than AI and making a quick buck off the backs of children.
