Poor service the hours for Sunday was until 6 pm. We were at the airport by 4:50 pm and no one was at the desk. We called the number and the phone was ringing behind the door. There was a cell phone left on the desk and a bag. Whoever was working was not doing there job right. We had to spend 10 to 30 minutes and one of the airport employee asked us to drop off the key at the express key return and it was missing envelopes. read more

I would recommend renting elsewhere. After arriving at the airport we quickly got in line at the Hertz counter and found no employees present. After about 5 minutes a woman walked up and asked about reservation. Employee: "You reserved a full size?" Us "Yep" Employee: "Well we don't have any of those" We explained we weren't that picky and would take whatever was available. She went outside to look around and then came back in and explained she had a Corolla for us. We needed to return it with 7/8 tank of gas. She noted on the damage form that it had several dents and it was missing the grill from the front. The car had clearly been in some sort of minor accident. It had nearly 50,000 miles which seems high for a rental car. It was not cleaned and clearly not filled up with a full tank of gas. At this point we were happy to have car. There were 3 people in line behind us and after we left she said "Now I need to figure out how I am going to get these other people a car" Basically it seems this Hertz is neglected. You will be lucky if you get a car, and don't count on it being what you reserved. read more

Even though it was easy to book a rental car (through Priceline) when my flight from DFW to Tyler got cancelled, the price they advertised out front was less than half of the final price, once all the fees, features, fuel-ups got listed. It also seemed like I paid more for just a 3-4 hour rental (where I picked up the car in Dallas, but returned it to Tyler), & I definitely used more fuel for that (1/2 tank), than I paid for a 2-day rental in Lubbock (where I just drove around the city, barely using 1/4 of a tank of gas) with National. A lot of the Hertz fees were hidden, while the fees with National were all out front. Also, National gave me a car with a screen to aid in viewing moving in reverse, but with Hertz's car, I had to turn around to look for going in reverse like a cave person. I might rent a car from Hertz again in the future, but I'm more likely to try a different rental company. read more

Hertz Car Rental at the airport are 'best of' always for my needs. I fly into Tyler airport frequently and usually need a car. Hertz folks gladly deliver their car to, usually, the Jet Center because they stay open all night 24-7. I actually park our Merlin ship at a maintenance location nearby however, so is easy quarter mile walk over to the Jet Center to get the car. Last night, landed here and had a really nice Infiniti to drive. Had not ever had an Infiniti rental and sure like this one. I usually leave my rentcar here at the maint shop and Hertz folks pick up there. Sometimes, I do a one-way rental to Kearney,NE. Always great and helpful staff here at the Tyler airport location gladly helping to make my travels easier. Thanks folks. read more

I rented a car online and had a friend drive me to the Tyler Airport. I got to the desk and there was a sign stating that they would be back. The sign said they were cleaning, moving or refueling a car. An hour later, I was still waiting. The other 2 car agency agents there stated that the employees go home early all the time. It was on 12/27 at approximately 730 PM. They are supposed to be open until 11PM. At 900PM, I finally rented from Avis at TWICE the cost. I called Hertz while I was waiting and they sent an email to their district manager. They said to expect a call. NEVER received a call. I am totally disgusted. I missed nearly 2 hours visiting with friends on my final night because I was at Tyler Airport waiting for a Hertz employee to show up. Why post a sign you are coming back when no one did? read more
