I called this location to see if I could return my car. I originally rented from Pittsburgh International Airport, however had a family medical emergency and needed to change plans. I spoke by phone with Branch Manager Quintasia Slappy. She said it would be no problem to drop off the vehicle at her location. I asked about fees and she said there were none. I arranged for a ride from the rental agency. When I arrived to return the vehicle, she informed me of a $200 inner city fee. I was and am furious because I specifically asked over the phone if there was a fee, and she said no. Either she lied or is incompetent. She refused to waive the fee. Great customer service. The branch manager agreed and promised to offer a discount for the atrocious cigarette smoke car they gave us for our 1 week rental. They offered no other options at the time of rental and we had no time to cancel and find something else. They even put a note on the rental paperwork at the start of the week to ensure this would happen. They acknowledged they tried to use special cleaner to remove the smell. We had headaches from the persistent, horrible smell the entire week. There is no excuse. The manager, Qadir, did not honor the agreement. It's complete dishonesty and mismanagement which seems to be the trend with this location. The car also did not have working window wiper fluid and was dirty on the outside. The side view mirrors were not able to be used until we cleaned them ourselves. read more

Easily the worst rental car and rental car experience I've ever had. I was forced here by the car dealership that ended up wrecking my car during repairs. The man running the counter was the most unpleasant person I've ever experienced. Didn't even respond when I said hello. Took him forever to get get the paperwork. When I went out to see the car, this thing is DISGUSTING. I don't know where they found this thing, but there is absolutely no way they can tell me it was cleaned. "Hertz Gold Standard Clean" is a definite lie. Outside is completely scratched up (we took pictures to document) and inside had stains. Run! Walk! Take a Bike! Do anything to avoid going here. We reserved online for Bulter and were called the week before our rental to say that location was closing. We were given the option to go to New Castle or Wexford and chose wexford. When we arrived we were told that Butler location had not sent our info to wexford and we were lucky to even get a car despite the fact that we prepaid(I did feel very bad for the obviously flustered worker). We had 3 revisions to our rental agreement since things we did not discuss or agree to were added to our agreement and were only discovered because I bothered to look at the agreement and see the additional charges. We were told our deposit would be reversed the day we returned the car. When I checked to see if the deposit was reversed we found that a new $125 charge was on our card. When I called to inquire, I was told that because we returned the car on a holiday (which was when the reservation was for) the system automatically applies that charge in the morning because they car wasn't marked as returned yet (apparently this goes on at midnight) so if you are returning on a weekend or holiday know that an extra $125 will be exiting your account. This is the non-detailed pleasant version of our rental. it has been nothing but a GIANT headache. Save yourself some time and frustration and just rent from somewhere else! read more

The service is good. The parking scenario is tough. They dont have parking. They will call you an uber, but all that does is add an extra step to your process on both the front and back end of your trip. read more

This place is absolutely horrible. Go to another rental company like Enterprise. My daughter was forced there by our State Farm car insurance and she was taken advantage of. The counter person lied and said she requested collision coverage. It ended up costing her $775 out of pocket. We tried for some type of resolution but it was his word against hers. This was the worst experience I've ever had returning a rental car I rented a car from the Pittsburgh location on fifth Avenue in April I called to extend my car also I had a concern regarding the Chrysler that I rent it from the fifth Avenue location the car was making noises and the dashboard light came on for the check and explain that to the customer service person at the Hertz location on fifth Avenue he told me to call I could contact another Hertz location and just swap the cars out so I contacted Wexford office they told me they did have a rental car available I did explain the situation to the person on the phone at the Wexford location when I did arrive all they did was pull my contract up and they switch me to a four fusion I had the rental for two weeks I called to extend the rental as I usually do Monday morning hertzz in Wexford OK the extension of the rental today I went to return the rental to the Wexford location that I pick the car up from I interacted with the employee name Susie she said she had to go check the car and she will be back in upon her coming back and she told me that the car smelled of heavy smoke and she had to charge me $300 and I told her I don't smoke all I did was transport a person that I take care of who is 63 years old then Susie brought to my attention that the fuel was not filled up and she would have to charge me for that also I told her OK that's fine so I can get out of the office cause I start getting frustrated because I felt some racism attitude coming from Susie because I find it mighty funny that I've had a rental car since April from the Hertz establishment and I have never been accused of a car smelling like smoke upon returning the car I had three or four cars from the Hertz rental car place on fifth Avenue and never did they accuse me of anything after leaving the Hertz establishment I headed back home Susi told me that she would email me a receipt 20 minutes went past and never received the email so I contacted the store and spoke with a gentleman this time I explained him the situation he told me he would send me an email over with the receipt after speaking with him I asked him what email address did they have for me he said Susie took down the wrong email address instead of Jenny Rainey 35 she had Jenny Rainey 33 So her worker did fix the mishap with the wrong email address Susie entered then I finally did receive the receipt for the total contract of the rental car and there were so many charges on there that I did not agree to I had no knowledge of they charge me $12 a day which totaled up to $60 for late fees that I had no knowledge that they were charging me with and Susie never explain that to me and neither did the people at the Hertz on fifth Avenue also I did not see my AAA membership discount but I told the Hertz office that I had AAA at theRE office in Pittsburgh I did explain the situation when I was at the counter in Wexford Office I told Susie that I had a AAA membership and it was not added there I was told at the fifth Avenue office when a rental contract clothes out that's when I'll see my discount for my AAA membership Susie then tells me that's not how it works they were supposed to take care of that at the beginning of the rental then she asked to see my card I pulled it out of my wallet and gave it to her and she say oh well there's nothing I can do they should've did that at the beginning of your rental I just looked at her so why did you ask to see my card now this is where I feel like the racism kicked in on Susie's behalf because she's a white woman and I am a black woman why would you ask me to pull my AAA membership card out if there was nothing you can do I believe she thought I was lying about being a member when I showed her the car her eyes got big and she still told me there was nothing that she can do so I didn't understand her asking to see my AAA membership if she couldn't physically alter the bills so I can get my proper discount that I was supposed to get so this is very upsetting to me and today is my birthday and this is the attitude and demeanor that I had to deal with I brought their company 1506 Dollars in cash I brought business to them I could've went to any other rental car company the miscommunication the rudeness the poor customer service no one even offered to give me a discount or to assist me in any type of way regarding my complaints so now I'm writing reviews read more

Never again.... I was very disappointed with with my experience here. Minor point: there is no on-site parking, and if you wish to leave your car, you must park behind an abandoned Wendy's restaurant in a vacant lot with very poor night-time lighting which is about 200 yards away across busy Perry Highway. But that was not the main reason why I was disappointed. I reserved a car for a long family trip under Hertz's "Standard Car" designation, which showed a photo and described a Nissan Altima "or similar" car. When I arrived, they told me that all they had was a Chevy Cruze, which is considerably smaller than the Altima and has poorer safety ratings. It also was a 2015 model rather than a current 2016 model (with 2017s about to come out), so essentially I would have to drive an almost 2 year old car. I politely expressed my disappointment, but was told that this was my only option unless I paid for an upgrade... much smaller and less comfortable than I had expected, and the Cruze has less of the amenities/features of the Altima. When I brought the car back from the trip, got the same old song and dance when I complained politely again - "sorry, but there's nothing we can do about it." No attempt to even offer me a coupon for my next visit, nada, zip, nothing. I will not be coming back to this location, and unless Hertz becomes transparent with exactly which model of car I will be getting from a particular category within its fleet, I will not be dealing with Hertz again. read more

Disappointing experience. They gave a pretty beat up car thats scary on freeway. Not sure how it would pass their quality check. Then, They gave a replacement car, which was the dirtiest rental car I have ever seen. Gave me a clean pass to clean up the rental car. Wow. I thought rental car customer experience is significantly improved. But hertz( this location) preferred to take a pass on that. Won't return. read more
