Be careful of this office! I was charged a Fuel & Service fee even though I returned the car with slightly more fuel than it had at pickup. I have photos from both pickup and return to support this. I tried calling the Yuma International Airport location multiple times and no one answered. Now I have to resolve this through my AMEX customer service instead of the local office. Make sure to take photos of the gas gauge at pickup and return, because fuel charges here seem to be applied without proper verification. read more

My reservation was at 8:30am at 10:15am there was still no vehicle ready after another receptionist told me that he had two rental cars that needed to be washed and I was at the top of the list. I was never notified that there were no rentals ready before driving 35 minutes to come up there. I would never rent from Hertz rent a car again. A car rental is always 24 hours, but not with Hertz it's actually a 19 hour rental then they start charging you after 19 hours. An hourly fee and if you go over 2 hours which is still only 21 hours then your getting charged a second day rental. Awful customer service on the phone. You have to go in to the place to get anything fixed. And then the car I had the lights were so dim and the brights didn't work so I'm glad I made it to my destination alive because I could barely see through the mountains. read more

Got into a car accident, totaled my car. Already in enough of a financial bind. My insurance was covering the rental, unfortunately hertz was the only one in their network. My insurance covered most of the rental, but hertz offered me their coverage, just as simply as I'm writing it here. The only explanation was that it would cover the cost of the car if totaled for 24.99 a day. Seeing as this is a rental being covered by my insurance I thought that it was them paying for it, since I was not told in the contrary I said yes. Turns out, it's out of pocket. Now I'm out 766 dollars, when I'm already in financial disparity. I talked to employees about it, they told me I needed to talk to the manager Freddy, turns out Freddy likes to dodge my calls even tho I have left several messages and my phone number. Not at all professional. The staff is either inexperienced or incompetent, but now I find myself having to come back from an already large monetary hole. Words cannot express the gratitude I have for my experience with this place-mainly with Gloria! My partner and I were stuck off of an interstate an hour away from Yuma one night. We were desperate to get home to San Diego but kept hearing from insurance companies and tow companies that we'd have to sit tight til the morning. My hopes were still high in finding a tow company but we needed to secure a rental to drive back home too. The only rental car company currently open was Hertz in Yuma and when I called, Gloria picked up. I very briefly told her about our situation and she was immediately empathetic and she just insisted she'd be there when I got there no matter what. We finally got a tow and headed to Yuma. When I got to Hertz at 10:20pm, Gloria was there ready with our car just as she promised and as she assured me the whole night that she would. She was so kind, personable and understanding-I swear I could have cried when I hopped into that rental. My heart is still so full and I still believe I witnessed a Christmas miracle then. It was such a stressful night and Gloria was just this bright light in it all. I know we were blessed, I know we got lucky, and I still shake my head thinking about it all and smile. I rented a vehicle from this hertz at the Yuma airport. I picked it up and took it off lot next day had a flat. Took back my vehicle after my military business trip was over and left my glasses in them. It was an hour after called I asked about my glasses that I left in the vehicle. The branch manager was rude told me my car was rented out already and that he could not leave the front desk being the only one there. Said he would call back in an hour which he didn't and so I called back to asked he said they haven't been turned in and I told him another person was I. The vehicle that seen me put my glasses in there. I asked for a manager he said that he was the branch manager and I asked for the corporate office which he said I was yelling which I wasn't . What a bad experience! I even was dealing with the manager. I booked a car, same day online, went to pick it up ended up not leaving with a car. 1st person i was dealing with was ok, but couldn't tell me a total. Said my card was declined, there was enough fund, i made sure of this. I had a sleeping baby in our RV so i went out, husband came in was told we can use a debit card. Manger told my husband to have me come back, switched again. Same thing again, Manger then told me to call my card company, I did nothing was wrong with my card. Manger then told me that my credit card was a debit card, that why it wouldn't go through. The manger was able to give a total but gave me three different totals, ranging from 400somthing to 600 something. When asked she couldn't explain why the prices was different. Rented a pickup in Yuma AZ. I refused the fuel package (and returned the pu full) and was not told there was a charge for a second driver. When I signed the electronic signature pad I thought I was signing the rental agreement... instead they have me agreeing to the fuel package and a charge for the second driver. If you need to rent a car -- DO NOT rent from Hertz. Find anyone else -- not them. The cars are way high in price -- they said due to the demand from the military coming in and then they do not tell you -- if you purchase the insurance and are 2 hours late -- will pro-rate the rental car charge -- and not the insurance. So with a 2 hours late -- they want me to pay for a full days worth of insurance. I was told I can dispute it with the national customer service -- not the local one. read more

Stay away if you ever have to do a car swap between San Diego and Phoenix. I used my insurance to open a rental car and these guys charged me $75 for Hertz roadside assistance, which they never completed the job. Complete crooks, just learned most manufacturers will do the service for free because most of the cars are brand new, Hertz won't tell you cause they are crooks. Avoid this place at all costs. When we called, we were told we wouldn't have to pay ANYTHING until we returned the car. Get there & we had to put down a $51 deposit.. okay, fine. Paid it. We returned the car & an hour later we are in church and we got 17 calls back to back. I am not exaggerating.. 17 calls, nonstop. I have used the Yuma Hertz location numerous times and I must comment on some of the negative comments in the reviews. I am shocked that there are any negative reviews relating to this location. As mentioned I have used Yuma Hertz numerous times and I can not say enough about about the service levels they provide as well as the pride that all the staff has at the location to look after their customers. I have recommended to some of my associates numerous times and they all agree that they had been looked after to the 9s. As we all know some people present their problems or issues with an extra level of aggressiveness and of coarse there is no options to reason with them. If they were out of cars then that issue and the reason for it can be directed at their head office or central bookings. I just wanted to put my opinion forward as I do know that the Yuma location has always looked after my needs as well as numerous individuals that I have sent there. Upon receiving my super awesome Mini Van! I proceeded to endure a moaning sound from the rear end, almost like gear howl, if the van were RWD... This slowly subsided above 50 mph but at 70 a whole other sensation began to explode. A violent shaking of the entire vehicle that progressively got worse, for fear of my life and the front axle falling off, I decided to trade it in. The night check employee was very helpful and understood my disdain with having a mini van in the first place and said that I should return in the morning in hopes of catching a Tahoe or SUV of the like. The day check manager wasn't as understanding. In fact was very crass and rude, her demeanor and inability to work with me has now left a sour taste in my mouth with HERTZ, would not recommend this company to anyone again. My husband is in the Marine Corps and was recently on temporary duty in Yuma; the government gave him a rental vehicle from Hertz to make sure he had transportation while on duty there. My husband had to pay upfront for the vehicle and later fill out a travel claim when he got back to our original duty station so that the government could reimburse him...the one and only thing that was required from Hertz was a simple receipt stating that there was no balance owed after payment was rendered...I have never witnessed such horrible customer service in all my life from a rental car company, the employees at Hertz found the task of issuing a simple receipt to be nearly impossible, my husband sat on hold over the phone for over thirty minutes at a time being transferred over and over again by rude and disrespectful Hertz employees before finally getting a receipt, it was ridiculous!!! My husband and I both travel quite a bit, and I know neither one of us will ever do business with Hertz again, it's really not worth the headache! read more
