I had been considering checking out this CrossFit thing that everybody has been talking about for…read morequite some time. I am 43 years old and have been going to the gym for years to try to get and stay strong. I had a preconceived notion about what CrossFit was even though I really had very little idea. I am also a chiropractor and have seen and treated many CrossFit athletes and some CrossFit coaches and have gotten to know them. They all have been very passionate about CrossFit. My other concern was that I could not afford an injury to affect my career. I finally decided to take the plunge and give a try. I signed up at CrossFit Barracuda because I knew one of the coaches and trusted his knowledge and expertise, and had several patients and acquaintances from there who spoke highly of it. I wish I had done this sooner, and could not be happier! The coaches (Dalton, Shane and Clint) are amazing and very knowledgeable. The atmosphere is very positive and supportive from everyone. Not only am I learning so many new things, such as some of the Olympic lifts I had never really done before, but there is a great variety to the workout every day. Another extremely important thing is that they will push you, but also not at the risk of injury. Proper form and technique is coached extremely well. I am seeing some excellent progress in just a few weeks time, and feeling great!

From day one, they make it known that they value quality over quantity. It's not about going until you puke. It's about making sure that you're doing the moves correctly so you don't injure yourself. The guys there always find ways to motivate and educate their members, either by monthly challenges, races, workshops. What's more, they are extremely accommodating with schedules/budgets. Not only is the staff awesome, but the members are as well. Even the facilities are full of awesome equipment that is always being updated. In my opinion, Barracuda is WORTH EVERY PENNY!!!! Keep it up, guys!

He pulls back the layers in a non prying way to see what is really needed for the person both physically and mentally. It's really quite uncanny and quite a gift for us. It surprised me but in a very good way. Let's face it people need to heal and work on their mind and body all the time not just until they are bored with their workout. The Process also incorporates multi disciplines, it's not just lifting weights or cardio or any in a box routine. James is a competitive champion in multi disciplines but what pleasantly surprised me as a yogi is that he IS a yogi as well. He knows that yoga heals the body and mind and practices regularly himself. I have never seen someone so unique and The Process is also for the entire family. James is amazing with his children and everyone else's children as well. He comes to sports teams, clubs, trainings and teaches the athletes and their coaches how to properly warm up to have a successful practice and prevent injuries. As a coach myself I truly appreciate this and so should parents. I could go on and on. I have never been a fan of the stereotypical personal trainer. The kind you get at a typical fitness / gym which seems to be a revolving door. The Process via James really gets to know the person and what you really need not what you think you need without being arrogant or intimidating. He is a special gift and it is a blessing to have met him through RipTide beach volleyball team. He is helping an old lady compete with literal teenagers. Miracle worker!

I wanted a workout that was challenging enough to satisfy the fitness junkie in me but paced enough that I wouldn't burn out. I was jumping back into a structured workout regiment after 3 years away from a group fitness setting so it was important that everyone was welcoming. I could not have asked for a better group of trainers and gym goers as well. Everyone is really nice, friendly and encouraging. And I always get a good workout here. You can book classes through their app, which is really easy to download and use. Unlike other places (looking at you OrangeTheory), you get some grace with canceling if necessary. Of course, they don't encourage cancellations but they do offer some grace if it happens so you can keep the sessions you pay for. Also, you can text the trainers to let them know what's going on and they actually answer. Things to know: The music is great but it varies from trainer to trainer. Love hip hop? Take Stephanie's classes. Love Latin-inspired music? Damian is your dude. Prefer a rock/hip hop mix? Then Chris is your man. They are obsessive about cleanliness. This is one of the main reasons I feel comfortable coming here. They are really on the ball as far as cleanliness goes. That's a plus at this point. Each class is taught by a trainer who cares about you getting the best workout possible. Seriously. You don't have to worry about only one person being good while everyone else is mediocre. They all bring something unique and care immensely about their students. I could go on but really I have found a great way to workout and a new gym home! I encourage you to try a free class or free week to see what it's all about. You will not be disappointed.

I read the reviews for IntensityX3 and decided to check it out since I always love a good kickboxing class. Since it was my first time there I had to take a 25 minute new members class with Ivy. There was one other newbie boxer in attendance and she went thru some of the punches and kicks she would be calling out in the 50 minute class that followed. While I've boxed before it was super helpful since there were a lot of different punches and kicks in the actual class. The 50 minute class was packed and clearly with many regulars. Ivy taught this as well and the first half of the class was kickboxing. She took us thru many high energy routines - it was fun and we broke a sweat! The second half of the class was all butt/legs. It was a great combo of cardio and strength and I left bummed that i was headed back to Chicago later that day since I wanted to go again. I"ll definitely be back next time I head home to South Florida! The studio itself isn't easy to find! They are located in the back of the Office Depot plaza, although the other side of Office Depot. Turn left before the Public Storage Building and look for the black awning. I had trouble, but called them and they stayed on the phone with me giving me solid directions. The only thing I didn't love was doing this workout barefoot, which they claim is better for your feet. I prefer to workout in shoes, especially when kicking backs and working with heavy weights. Perhaps it's just something I need to get used to, but everything else was solid!

So far I can't get a hold of corporate office. Every time I try the manager of the local studio reaches out. They block you from contacting them. The woman on the phone should have told me that and sent me the form. I would have done it same day. This is their issue not mine. Not only that I tried to do a drop in class at another location and it never confirmed so I have 6 drop in charges on my credit card that they're telling me they can't credit because I made the mistake not them. Also I learned during the first class that I couldn't even do 1 regular push-up. But I kept going and one day told myself when I could do 5 push-ups I'd treat myself to red boxing gloves. So as I went I got stronger and stronger and after 6 weeks I owned the red gloves. The classes are an hour and go pretty fast. Now, I don't live in Florida full time, I'm only in Florida a couple months out of the year. I got an ad on Instagram while I was there for the 6week transformation challenge so I reached out and went in for a consultation with the manager and ended up signing up for what I thought was the 6weeks program. In this program it included a "nutrition plan" that ended up just being one page with what I should eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner, a page that looked like was put together in 5minutes and printed out. The class itself was great, the trainer was awesome but I ended up not going for the full 6weeks because I got sick that month and was ok with losing the money since it was not their fault I got sick. Well, it turned out that they kept my credit card on file and have been charging me $169/month ever since for a membership I never signed up for. I have reached out to the manager and she never replied to my last message. I feel scammed and they are not conducting good business practice. I do not recommend.

I need to share what happened at this gym because the level of disrespect and neglect I experienced…read moreand witnessed is truly alarming. First, my brother was banned over a simple declined membership payment. Any responsible gym would handle that by updating the card or rerunning it. Instead, they turned it into a punishment. Then today, ON THANKSGIVING, I walked in just to pay a guest pass for him. A two-minute transaction turned into one of the most unprofessional encounters I've ever had. The owner didn't greet me, didn't acknowledge me, didn't offer even basic courtesy. The energy was cold and hostile from the moment I stepped inside. To make matters worse, the owner was behind the desk on the phone, speaking in a tone and attitude that made it obvious the conversation was about us. I couldn't hear the exact words, but anyone standing there would have felt the same disrespect. On a day meant for gratitude and kindness, the hypocrisy was unbelievable. And that's just the customer service. Let's talk about the facility itself, because that's an issue no one should ignore: Dumbbells constantly left loose or in unsafe positions Multiple areas of the gym that feel hazardous and poorly maintained Bathrooms that are consistently dirty, foul-smelling, and visibly neglected Mold or what appears to be mold that was literally painted over No visible janitorial presence mirrors, floors, equipment, and high-touch areas look unclean People often walking barefoot around the gym, which raises serious hygiene concerns I even had a friend who picked up a foot infection after training here (he didn't report it, but the environment speaks for itself) A gym should promote health not put people at risk or make them feel unwelcome. Another thing that stood out to me over time is the way the owner interacts with the younger, more timid employees. The dynamic feels uncomfortable and one-sided, almost like they're afraid to speak up or push back about anything. It creates a work environment that feels pressured and unbalanced, and as a customer, it's very noticeable. A gym should empower its staff not make them look tense or uneasy. But what truly shocked me were the notes and signs around the gym. They're written in a tone that feels harsh, confrontational, and almost angry..the kind of wording that makes members feel uncomfortable instead of supported. A gym should motivate people, not intimidate them with aggressive messaging. If this is the level of respect and maintenance on a holiday built around gratitude, imagine what the rest of the year looks like. There are MANY gyms in the Lighthouse Point / Pompano Beach area that treat people with professionalism and maintain clean, safe facilities. I strongly recommend choosing one of them instead of dealing with this kind of environment and management.
