Wild Child Brisket Nachos- these were very good!
    Dianne E.

I really liked the variety of options. I got a burger and fries from Little Darling my first visit and they were great, especially the fries with garlic confit & arbol aioli dipping sauce. My next visit I had the Wildchild Brisket nachos and the Saint Bernardo Gelato and I went back with 2 coworkers and we all had WildChild. There were always tables available and everything was pretty clean. Service was good too.

Little Auburn, Alabama, has taken huge leaps in their culinary scene in recent years, adding fantastic upscale restaurants like Acre, The Depot, and The Hound. But the opening of their first food hall on August 16, 2022, catapulted them beyond many towns similar in size. Located between Auburn University's beautiful new culinary arts building and the Hotel at Auburn, and managed by the Ithaka Hospitality Partners company which also operates the hotel, Hey Day Market is doing everything right. They attract college students and visitors by offering a wonderful variety of independent eateries with foods difficult to find elsewhere in the city. So Hey Day doesn't do chain restaurants. The 10,000-square-foot space stays open until 10:00 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. And they even accept students' Dining Dollars and Tiger Club cards at eight of the nine stalls (all except The Bar). Since a list of restaurants is difficult to find on the Internet - as I'm write this in Hey Day's first month of operation - I'll list the options here. * Alcoholic drinks at The Bar * American sandwiches and burgers at Little Darling Burger Co. * Cuban Sandwiches at La Cubanita * Gelato at Saint Bernardo Gelateria * Hawaiian poke at Pokémen * Health food at Loud Roots * Italian food at Pizzeria Ariccia * Malaysian street noodles at Khoodles * Los Angeles-style street tacos at WildChild The stained concrete floors and open, well-lit space is very inviting. Sundays feature Soul Brunches, which means soul music is cranked to the highest volume making conversation difficult. So be forewarned if that isn't your thing. In the lush lawn between the food hall and culinary arts building, they'll soon be adding lawn games like cornhole and croquet, as well as an outdoor, big-screen television. If you were wondering whether the adjacent Tony and Libba Rane Culinary Science Center is taking advantage of its proximity to a food hall, they are! A student-operated restaurant will eventually replace La Cubanita. And a tenth food stall is being reserved as a test space for graduates of the Hospitality Management Program to develop innovative food concepts, competing in a real-world environment for up to one year before the next group takes over.

The Hey Day Market is a good option for both pre and post game dining. A variety of options to meet everyone's pallet.

You need all three to build on. I got a slice of "NY style". Would it hurt to put some sauce on it? Crust was fine, cheese was ok, but dry isn't the way to go guys. The up charge for what was two small tomato slices was honestly embarrassing. The sauce would have made a big difference. The sub I got was fine, but an inattentive waitress caused it all to be barely warm (the pizza slice was barely warm and baked sub was cold). I was just about to pay for my drink and leave. It's a slice and a sub, I watched a table order a whole pie and have it delivered before my meal. The wait staff was busy talking and complaining of boredom in a booth right in front of me, while one older woman was hustling all over the restaurant. I think I've reviewed them before, as I come here for business often. A little hustle and leadership would go far in the customer experience here. No drink check, and now I wait to pay.....and wait.....and wait. If you are a fan of barely warm, strip mall mediocrity and have time to wait for service in between the seat time of the staff...drop on by. The three stars are generous based on my view as I think it could be a great spot.

The pizza arrives piping hot, cheesy, and unforgettable--the kind of meal you compare every other slice to, no matter what state you're in. It may be a chain, but to us it's tradition. The ambiance is comfort, homestyle and familiar. No matter how far we roam, this place still feels like home.
