    Red Snapper with Lemon Potatoes

It's an often known reality of life that restaurants with a view are rarely amazing. And while War Eagle Supper Club is not a bad restaurant, it sadly does not depart from that all too common trend. War Eagle Supper Club, along with the gorgeous Graduate Hotel, opened in late 2024 and design wise is the kind of place that Auburn needed for a long time. Beautiful views above the campus, with the tower of Sanford Hall visible a short distance away. If that's not enough, the design is breathtaking. Auburn thematics and colors are used in a contemporary design which is not only beautiful, but truly one of a kind, clearly distinguishable from any other rooftop bar in the world. And, that is very cool. People working here are incredible. Mostly students. Attentive and well trained, the management of the hotel assembled a great team. The food is where the supper club does a decent job, but lacks refinement. The burger, while tasty itself, came out with a wilted and browned salad. The chips with guacamole are very stale. The guacamole itself has a solid piece of the stem element, which could easily break a tooth. The best dish was the fish and lemon potatoes. Meatballs are enjoyable also. Thus, food is the main thing that needs work at War Eagle Supper Club. The wine selection is reasonable for an establishment in a college town, with some well selected bottles priced mostly at a reasonable x2 up charge to retail. Is War Eagle Supper Club welcomed in Auburn? It truly is. Yet, some refinement on the food preparation is needed.

This is actually a review of the restaurant on top, War Eagle Supper Club. The atmosphere and views were top notch and the service was excellent. Menu was very limited and food wasn't great. I had the chicken sandwich and the fried chicken really left something to be desired. The sandwich itself didn't have much to it. They have only been open two months and they are definitely still figuring things out. They also had no kids menu and very limited offerings for small kids, I had a 2yo. The Auburn feel was awesome though. They had a big eagles next for the photo op, which was very creative. I'd say give it a few more months and then give it a try. They need to figure things out.

pizza ( if that's what we're calling it)

Seldom do I write reviews on restaurants but I am so deeply disappointed in my first meal in Alabama. I ordered the pizza and i'm not confident each slice came from the same pizza (the slices don't line up even if you squint your eyes and tilt your head). The pizza was beyond burnt and dry and appeared to be reheated. The best way I can describe it is that it had me feeling like I was eating people's left over pizza that was reheated and thrown into a box. I wanted to love this place- I am so deeply let down

War Eagle Supper Club is a true Auburn gem. The Greek chicken was the standout, tender and perfectly seasoned. The rooftop views of Auburn made the evening even better, especially as the sun set across town. The atmosphere carried the War Eagle spirit from the staff to the crowd, giving the whole night the feel of a celebration. It fills up quickly, and for good reason. Once you go, you will understand why it is a favorite.

At each point, the valet, the host, the server, the food runner--everyone greeted us with a smile and kindness. The welcoming environment was definitely not lost one me. Now, to get to the food: I love that the oysters rotate and I tried a Blue point (my favorite), Love Shucks, and a queen's cup. Next, we went for the blue crab dip. It's served in a great for sharing cast iron skillet. The dip was delicious, and although the dill chips were nice and crunchy, they were overall way to salty and really detracted from the crab dip. For entrees we opted for the stuffed trout and the grouper bites. The grouper bites were fried perfectly and the succotash that it came on really brought out the flavors. I wasn't a fan of the hash but my mom loved it. Now the star of the meal was the pickled onions on my trout. Wow! Truly elevated the dish in a way I hadn't expected and sounds so basic but was a genius choice. Another standout was our server Christian who was attentive, enthusiastic, and helpful. It's so cool because he's also the voice on ESPN so go check him out!

Fried green tomatoes- wasn't the biggest fan of pimento cheese, but if that's your thing I'm sure it would have been delicious. I had the strawberry / spinach salad. It was decent but a little too much dressing on parts and a bit dry in others. The biscuits were a star of the other meal. Sadly, no lattes... the only other bummer was that the waiter forgot my cocktail. He apologized when I asked for it... I know accidents happen

I believe it effected some of the flavors of foods that were boiled in it, too. Gnocchi had some of the same off flavor. In addition, some of the flavors just feel way out of whack for totally unrelated reasons. Sauce that the duck came in was thin and overwhelmed by honey. The risotto it was served with seems like it should be rich and homey. But despite a crazy amount of added dairy still tasted thin and flat. Can't tell you why. Wonky seasoning? None of the dishes reflected any familiarity with acid to lighten or balance a dish. Fried green tomatoes were pretty mid despite a quality remoulade and a bunch of pimento cheese. Ingredients seem like they're decent quality. Desserts are legitimately top notch. Everyone recommends the peanut butter pie. And it is excellent, though pretty obviously not long out of the freezer. The affogato Is legitimately fantastic. And I'm not even talking about the pageantry of dumping the espresso on the salt ice cream. The combo is legitimately satisfying, like a well-rounded creamy candy. The plates are funky and cool and beautiful. The staff all seem like they're 19, attractive, and gregarious.

Tucked into Auburn's dining scene with an upscale-casual pub charm, it's become our daughter's favorite spot to "take us" when we visit--which tells you everything you need to know. After a semester fueled by ramen and an alarming quantity of Chick-fil-A, she heads straight for the spicy penne crowned with perfectly cooked filet medallions. A wise choice. They don't take reservations, and yes, you may linger outside awhile on a busy night. Stay. It's worth it. For those of us with Gulf Coast roots, the menu reads like a love letter: blackened catfish done right, crispy crawfish tails, and cheese-laced grits that feel like a warm welcome home. The fried green tomatoes are a standout--golden, crisp, topped with grilled shrimp, and finished with a balsamic glaze that somehow works beautifully, even if it strays from tradition. The shrimp and grits, the catfish, the pasta--all hits. Cheesecake for dessert, especially if you're loyal to a graham cracker crust, is non-negotiable. Dim, cozy, a little whimsical (don't skip art in the hallway to the bathroom), and staffed by people who seem genuinely happy you're there. We'll be back. Often. --Chance & Becky *All Ahead Slow*
