This was my first farmer's market in Washington and it was utterly magical!…read more The produce quality is so amazing and I loved all the variety! The flowers were beyond beautiful. I don't think I have seen more beautiful blooms anywhere else! I love that it was heavily focused on local small businesses, farmers, and FOOD. We stopped for a few bites along the way and were blown away every time. So good. This market is huge and stretches for a few blocks, so be sure to come early and give yourself ample time to explore. Also, with it being in Ballard, there are a ton of cool, hipster shops to browse while you're in the area.

Ballard Farmers Market was my favorite farmers market in the greater Seattle area for many years…read more Recently, the booth count seems to be less than before, with restaurants occupying the street space (understandably) along two blocks. Subsequently, I lost some interest since I don't live nearby. While I was in Ballard on a recent Sunday, I rushed to the market to see if it was still open. Officially, it was not; they closed at 2pm. But they were still packing up. I believe they are not allowed to sell after the official closing time; I asked one vendor, they declined. The staff wants the streets to reopen as soon as possible. As I walked the two blocks, several vendors still have some items on display on their tables. With a bit of wink, wink, accidentally dropping cash on the table and accidentally taking things off the table, I walked away with goodies. I won't say what I bought to avoid anyone getting into trouble. Street parking was easy enough nearby on a Sunday.

I love this store. We go to Abundantly Green to get eggs, at least, every week or every two weeks,…read moreas our need dictates and our budget allows. They are cheaper than the supermarket eggs I used to get, and I KNOW where these eggs come from. We see the happy, healthy chickens when we visit early enough, among other lovely animals. Cliff is so friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable; he is always ready with information and conversation, and makes the shopping experience delightful. He tells us where products come from, how they are raised or produced. He makes sure we know what is available and tells us what we can expect to see in future. Thus far, we have only experienced this farm's beautiful, nutritious, orange-yolked eggs, but I want everything there. The price per pound for roasting chickens is, I recall, very competitive for the superb quality you can expect. I can't wait to try the beef and duck, too, and their gorgeous-looking produce. Abundantly Green also carries products from farms in the area, including Blackjack Valley's excellent milk and Stedman's honey, which I have enjoyed for many years. The store offers goats' milk, too, and several kinds of goat cheese, goats' milk soaps, and fermented veggies. Last I heard, they are working on getting set up to accept credit and debit payments. I am not sure how that is going because we always make sure we have cash. I will ask next time I have the opportunity.

Nice place to visit overall. A lovely old farm that'll calm your nerves, then take home some good…read morefixins.
