The entrance in a cool little village on Bainbridge Island
    Chris V.

I stumbled upon this place on a bike ride around Bainbridge Island. It's a little market with sone pastries and I tried the chocolate gluten free cookie and the chocolate brownies at the suggestion of the nice young lady behing the counter. I'm so glad I did. The cookie was a little chewy and crisp with a hint od sea salt. It it the spot after some long hill climbs on my bicycle. The brownie was intensly chocolaty tasting like my favorite triple chocolate cookie from Grand Central Bakery in Seattle's Pioneer Square. Pane is filled with all kinds of goodies like the chocolate fondue from Paris. I'll visit again the next time I circumnavigate Bainbridge on my bicycle.

I wasn't expecting much since Pane D'Amore is in the middle of nowhere, far from downtown. I was pleasantly surprised to find appealing looking pastries (cookies, cake, muffins, bread, croissants, scones, savory turnovers, even gluten free items), a good assortment of cheeses, pate, olives, pasta, wine and other gourmet food items (e.g., duck confit). * Cheesesticks: Long, thin and chewy, coated with parmesan, not soft or super hard, firm, chewy and very cheesy * Mini cannelle ($1): the cutest thing, not as creamy inside as other cannelles but very good caramelized exterior * Cream shortcake ($1.25): tender, fluffy, sweet, simple goodness, would be amazing with strawberries Their baked goods are also sold at The Treehouse restaurant in the same shopping center.

Literally the worst rye bread ever. It weighed like a brick with no taste. Save your $$$ and go elsewhere.

Great breads. Selections not available elsewhere on Bainbridge. And they will slice your loaf if you want.

The best loaves or whole wheat or sourdough around, except when I bake it myself!! They even sell homemade dog biscuits that my dog loves.

Their coffee was excellent, and they offer an amazing selection of freshly baked bread, pies, cakes, and pastries. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for quality baked goods and great coffee! Great service too. Thank you

It's clear this was the case for others as well, as there was a large line extending outside the door onto the sidewalk when we arrived around 10:00 a.m. I ordered their multigrain toast with jam along with a savory croissant. The toast comes heavily buttered and the savory croissant for the day was topped with the fillings you'd fine in a spanakopita -- i.e. spinach and feta. I really loved the thickness of the toast slice and the degree that they toasted it: soft and fluffy on the inside and crunchy on the outside. They did not hold back from including a bunch of seeds in the bread, and that added a nice texture in every bite. The jam is on the sweeter side, but I like that it's on the side so you can control exactly how much sweetness you want to add. The savory croissant had good flakiness to it, but it would have been nice if we had an option to have it toasted. Overall, very good bakery that I'd gladly visit again if I'm back on Bainbridge Island. Definitely get the toast.

There is no place to sit inside but there are sidewalk benches or you can walk as you snack. I love that you can look at all the pastries from the side walk. They not only entice you to get a pastry or three but you can plan out what you want while waiting in line. When you order, if I remember correctly, you only get your items in a box if you order more than six items. If you order less they are placed into a waxed bag. I ordered the sour cream donut, Viking cup, and a butterhorn with almonds. I loved them all! They all tasted so fresh, had a great texture, and was absolutely yummy. The Viking cup had the perfect balance of frosting to bun.

There was a line out the door even 30 minutes before closing, but it went pretty fast and the shelves were also well stocked with pastries; not bare like I expected them to be coming so soon before closing. The person behind the counter explained that the Viking cups were all 20% off as the batch that day came out with irregular shapes. Taste wise it wasn't bad, tastes like a regular cinnamon roll but with more of that homemade touch you get with good quality ingredients and handmade cream cheese frosting (the contrast from store bought to homemade is big when it comes to cream cheese). The frosting had good texture and surprisingly I liked it better than the actual roll, especially since I'm known to always remove cream cheese icing. I think the roll would have been better if it had been served warm. Overall it was not bad, a little sweeter than I would have preferred, but I'm also not a huge cinnamon roll or cream cheese fan because of how sweet they always are in general, so that could just be a personal preference. Want to try the pecan roll or any of the cookies next time I visit, those sounded promising as well. Prices here are also pretty decent considering how touristy this place is, and coming from Seattle, anything under $5 is a relief. Definitely will become a place I hit every time I'm in Poulsbo!
