Angie has a lovely personality, thoroughly explains procedures, and does top notch work. I recently had a mani and pedi by Tiffany. The pedi was amazing because of the massage. I've had a lot of manis and pedis in my life, but these were the best. Also, I was the only person getting a mani and pedi. Their set up suggests that only one client at a time is allowed to get a mani or pedi. I don't know whether this has always been their set up or if it's new due to Covid. Also, when getting the mani, Tiffany and I were separated by a plexiglass shield. From now on I'll only get manis and pedis from Tiffany at Radiance. My regular (non-gel) mani lasted almost 2 weeks! I recently had my hair colored by Teresa. She did a great job. She has also blown-out my curly hair a few times, making it nice and straight, but with bounce. Gabby has washed my hair and gives an awesome scalp massage! Radiance at Lansdowne takes Covid seriously and follows strict protocol to prevent transmission. They got an all-new building air filtration system early in the pandemic. All employees wear masks at all times: they don't even eat in the building as that would mean removing their masks! And, if you'd like the employee you'll be seeing to double-mask and wear a face shield, you can just let the front desk know and they'll accommodate your request. They follow an anti-Covid cleaning regimen that's VERY thorough and do not allow employees to work if they are sick. Before your appointment you must complete a questionnaire that assesses the possibility that you've been infected. You must call the salon from your car when you arrive for your appointment and they will let you know when you may enter the building. They have hand sanitizer at the door and expect all clients to sanitize their hands upon entering the building. I am super paranoid about getting Covid, but feel safe going to Radiance at Lansdowne.

I go to pay and am charge $113 before tip. When I ask where the other money is coming from they say, "you got your hair curled which is an additional $33" (plus another $5 eco charge?). If I would have been told that curling my above-the-shoulder hair was going to be an additional $33 I would not have moved forward with that. I was shocked that I was not told that at the time of styling that it would be a surcharge (and anyways, $33 to curl hair??) Writing this review to warn others of "hidden" charges. Perhaps this is standard but I was completely surprised and am turned off from returning.

Also, I am not a member of the gym the salon is located inside and, at this latest visit, I told the front desk I was going to the salon, went upstairs, then realized one of the guys from the front desk was following me. When I went to the restroom instead of directly into the salon, he asked where I was going, I told him again I was going to the salon, and he WAITED OUTSIDE the restroom for me to come out and follow me into the salon. Bizarre. I told the salon's receptionist and she was so apologetic and told her manager immediately because this is not the first issue they've had with the front desk. The hair cut was fine, but the overall vibe and feel of the salon wasn't my personal favorite. The staff was pretty cold, not very talkative or welcoming. I immediately was met with an upsell. Every time i spoke to my stylist I kept having to repeat myself because she just wasn't paying attention and she spoke mostly under her breath. I watched a handful of people throughout my entire haircut eat and snack at the color bar. The shampoo stations are located directly across from the nail salon station so the entire time I was getting my hair washed all I could smell is nail polish remover. The salon feels pretty crammed into the space it's in. Like I was greeted, I was also sent on my way with upsell on product without any explanation. Overall a very mid experience.

Stood by the desk, someone asked if I needed help, I said I had a 1:30 with Micheal, then was told to sit upfront and he'd come check with me. 20 minutes later, still sitting in the front when a walk-in came in, someone went to go ask Micheal and he said 20-30 minutes and he'd be with him. So I walked back to talk to him and he was deep into coloring someone else's hair, gloves on and everything. So I asked if I still had my appointment, he said "Oh yeah," then said he'd help me in a little. He came and grabbed me finally, then immediately started accosting me about how it's my fault I didn't walk over to him. I don't live here, I don't know who he is so how could I? He continued to accost me the whole cut, lecturing me how it's my fault I had to wait, he even said he saw me in there. 3-5 minutes into the cut he asked if I wanted product. I was so confused, he hadn't done anything I wanted so I asked "are you done?" He said yes, so I repeated what I wanted, then he told me no, he wasn't going to do that and then continued doing what I didn't want for 15 more seconds, then asked how I wanted to pay. My hair is so uneven and is completely fucked up. It's so uneven and he missed parts of my hair... He also works at Scotch and Scissors apparently and tried to get me to go there and told me it'd be $65 there instead of $45 at Village 9. $65 for a 3 minute cut while getting accosted and told he wouldn't cut my hair like I asked? This man is a criminal. I really wish one of the nice ladies at Village 9 would've responded to my inquiry for a cut, they would've been head and shoulders above him.
