After having a great haircut with a nice young lady for my son, I checked out with a different stylist and when I tipped 25 percent, he rolled his eyes and made a comment to another customer about I guess what he thought wasn't enough for the 15 min kid cut. I used to go to the Leesburg location for one reason only: IVOLYN!! She's the BEST stylist on the planet. Actually, she's more like a hair sculptor! A true artist!! I live in Florida, but started coming to Virginia in 2015 to work with a friend making Balloon Animals for a living. Once the pandemic hit, I resorted to having my brother cut my hair, then I tried to do it myself, etc. Mixed results all the way around. I can barely stand ANYONE else cutting my hair except IVOLYN! So when I saw that the Leesburg location closed, my heart broke. But, I searched all the surrounding Hair Cuttery's and finally found her in Purcellville. It's been over 2.5 years since my last cut with her (mid-December 2019) and she just finished cutting my hair. This is the happiest I've been with my hair since then! I went for the Tea Tree massage treatment, and so worth it bc IVOLYN is also very skilled at that as well! SO HAPPY RIGHT NOW!!! read more

Worst haircut ever. Don't ask for Kayla. She has no idea what the customer wants or actually asks for. No taper = 4 inches above the collar with 2 inches of buzz cut in her mind. This will take 6 months to grow out. I should get a refund!!!!!!!!!!!!! They should get some new stylists. read more

I had a wonderful experience. My hair is very thin and I can't have a second chance. If it is a bad cut you can't go back and fix it. It takes several months to grow out to a length to restyle. Gabby was my stylist she was recommended to me by my granddaughter who had nothing but good things to say and has always used her! I asked if she was a magician! She did a wonderful cut. I'm very self conscious about how thin my hair is and she layered it to make it look thicker and I was so happy I'll make all my future appointments with her!! read more

I would not recommend this place, or any Hair Cuttery in general. This was my third bad experience at a Hair Cuttery, at a third different location. I went to a woman who a loved one recommended to me. The woman did an amazing job on my loved one's hair, but NOT mine. I went into the salon knowing my hair was damaged and was prepared to pay extra money for the love that I knew my hair needed. She and I discussed a certain image that I was going for, after she talked me out of what I initially wanted (to "spare the integrity of my hair"). I knew this was a crock because the girl I would normally go to would do my hair the way I requested without issue, leaving my hair soft and healthy every time. She was nice though, so I gave her the benefit of the doubt (mistake). When the stylist turned me around in the chair to in front of the mirror (after she was finished drying), the cut and color was totally NOT what we talked about (like literally not even close), and it took everything in me to not burst out into tears. I think she knew how unhappy I was, as her demeanor completely changed. She then still had the nerve to continue to try push expensive products on me after I firmly said "no" multiple times. This had literally gone on the entire time I was getting my hair done, like to a point where it was becoming extremely uncomfortable. I understand you make a commission if I buy product, but please, when I say "no", it means "no". All in all, I should have just gone to my normal girl because my hair is completely ruined and I don't think I will ever get it back to the point of loving it again. read more

The woman I got decided that she wanted to do whatever she wanted and cut my hair too short and gave me a bob and it was way shorter than my shoulders. Very Expensive ($27!) for a Basic Men's Cut The store is charging premium salon prices for a standard Supercuts level trim. These guys very much just do as what you tell them cookie cutter. They're not artisans recommending what would look best or trying to style you. Their skills are fine, but not exceptional. I'm ok with that for $14, but not for $27. Darrels or Supercuts is just as good for half the price. read more

I made an impulsive decision to cut my hair earlier this week. Ended up with a late appointment with Roxy and couldn't have had a better experience. She suggested a great cut/style and executed perfectly. My husband said it ranks in the top 3 of my best haircuts. Can't beat the price or convenience. THE WORST HAIRCUT EVER- AND CHARGED FOR IT AFTER DISPUTING IT. My son went in for a trim on the sides- NOTHING off the top. They cut 4 inches off the top, and cut off his sideburns completely. This is a haircut anyone would be embarrassed to be seen in public with. Then, this horrible excuse for a business insists on charging for the haircut even after disputing the HORRIBLE haircut. The worst part is that this was done on class picture day. NEVER GO TO THIS BUSINESS- ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE. I'm a guy with longer, curly hair. I had come to hair cuttery for quite some time and had gotten great hair cuts from Maggie who, unfortunately , moved to Texas. I came to another stylist with my hair on the sides to my earlobes. I asked for a trim. A dusting. Just a little off. (You can always cut more off next time. You can't put it back once it's cut). The stylist wet my hair and gave me the shortest haircut I've had in decades. It's an embarrassment. She didn't listen to what I wanted. She just went ahead. Really poor customer service. It'll take months for my hair to grow back to a reasonable length. Very unhappy. read more

What a bunch of horrible "stylists". I found a lady who could cut my hair and do it well- her name is Molly. Apparently she left, hopefully for better employment elsewhere. The ladies there, other than Molly, can't even cut sideburns correctly. I have a little beard action right now and they shaved down on the sideburns to "level" them I guess- and cut an inch of beard off both sides. Who the F does that! The worst part is they aren't even. I am sure these ladies are nice and try hard, but they need to go back to school and get some lessons on being detail oriented. I walked into the hair Cuttery in Purcellville Virginia. I met Willow, she made me feel as if I was the only one there. She sat me down and talked with me while asking what I was looking for. Willow gave me a perfect scissor cut, which is hard to find in today's "world of salon". She also suggested product to duplicate my hair style at home like she did. She made different suggestions on how to style it. What I'm trying to say is she took time. The price was fantastic I would go out of my way to recommend whatever salon Willow works at she is definitely an asset at the hair Cuttery. I attempted to do a walk-in appointment on Saturday July 17, 2021 but I was told that they didn't have any availability and to come back the following day at 1pm. No problem. Fast forward to the following afternoon and I arrive for my appointment and I'm immediately led to a chair by the woman who checked me in at the front desk. Turns out that she was the only stylist in the shop at the time and there was only one other customer who was getting a color service and just sitting while her color developed. Anyway, I sit down and my stylist asks me what I'd like and I said that I just wanted a dry dusting/trim and no shampoo. She asked if I wanted layers and I explained that I did not want her to change the shape of my hair at all. I simply wanted her to trim one quarter to one half inch and any split ends. While I'm talking I am showing her on my own hair how I'd like for her to section it and showing her on my ends exactly what I wanted her to take off. She then covers my hands with her own to get me to take them off my hair and says that she's been cutting hair for 35 years and doesn't need me to show her what to do. I responded that I've had a lot of trims over the years and even after giving instructions to just cut 1/2 inch or less, many stylists have cut substantially more. Two years ago I cut off the majority of my hair due to heat damage and I've been wearing it naturally curly ever since. I seldom use heat or wear styles that require intense manipulation so my hair is very healthy and my split ends are very minor. I thought that by physically demonstrating exactly what I was looking for and how I would like it trimmed would reduce the chances of confusion for my stylist. Instead, my stylist seemed offended by the idea that I wanted my hair trimmed a certain way and she told me that despite being a stylist for 35 years, that she had never heard the term "dusting." For that reason, she said that she didn't feel comfortable trimming my hair and said that I would have to come back on yet another day and have someone else trim my hair because she was too confused. Honestly, it was one of the most bizarre experiences that I have ever had and it just reinforced for me all of the reasons that I have avoided going to the Hair Cuttery in the past. I figured that since I wasn't getting a specific hair cut or any sort of color or chemical service that Hair Cuttery might be a safe bet because how badly can you really screw up a minor trim? I guess we'll never find out because I will NEVER walk into any Hair Cuttery ever again. I called the Oasis Aveda Salon at the Dulles Town Center from the parking lot of the Hair Cuttery and made an appointment for later today. It's an extra 20 minute drive past my local Hair Cuttery, but I guarantee that they can at least manage a trim. I wish I could give a place zero stars because the Purcellville Hair Cuttery is the absolute worst! read more

This establishment needs some good management in place to clearly fix an ongoing problem. I saw 25+ people turned away just today. There has been an 2-3 hour wait every time I've been there. Atrocious. Would give them 0 stars if I could. I have been taking my son here for years because it is close and the haircut passable. But I have noticed in the last year that their service has really gone downhill. Today, after stopping by twice in the past couple of weeks, only to find that they had at a minimum an hour wait, I decided to call before leaving my house to make an appointment. The stylist we usually see answered the phone herself. She said that it was slow and there would be no wait if I went over right away. So I did. Showed up there and there was no one waiting. The stylist we wanted was working on someone so we confirmed with the one who checked us in that we were next in line and she said yes that, AT MOST, we would have to wait 15-20 minutes. We waited for about 20 minutes, during which time several people checked in. When the stylist is done with her client she comes over and calls in a person who had just come in about 15 minutes after us! We go to the receptionist, again, to ask what was going on and she informs us that now there are 3 people ahead of us because, apparently, they give priority to people who sign-in online EVEN AHEAD OF PEOPLE WHO HAVE ALREADY CHECKED-IN IN PERSON!!!!! What kind of company does this? Obviously, we left and will NEVER be back. Waste of time. read more
