Booked…read morethrough Amex Platinum FHR program for $341 (before the $56 nightly resort fee) through the Amex portal to use our $300 credit. Came with all the benefits of the FHR program, including a daily $60 breakfast credit (that could be used at a choice of 7 different shops/restaurants) and a $100 food credit to be used at a HUGE list of MGM restaurants (it's nice because it doesn't even need to be within the Cosmo ). We checked in around 12noon but our room wasn't available until around 3:30pm. Pros: - overall, a very convenient and central location on the strip for everything we wanted to do - used our $100 credit at Best Friend at Park MGM, was a super easy process to just give them our room number at the Cosmo ( you do have to show your ID to do this and it has to be the name on the hotel reservation) - room has a great view of the strip during the day and night - you can watch the bellagio fountain show at night and it's a beautiful aerial view - comfortable clean room, with good bed, firm pillows, good shower pressure. - used our breakfast credit at District Donuts in the food court downstairs, was a nice touch to not have to pay for breakfast - the Cosmo itself is very fun with lots of lounges and restaurants within it - perfect if you don't want to walk outside in the hot summer sun. We had a great time at Ski Lodge for cocktails - overall all the staff we interacted with were super nice and professional - kind of an upscale very young people vibe inside, with the iconic chandeliers etc - I did like that they have kiosks where you can activate your room keys without standing in line again , once your room is ready (app gives you a QR code ) - easy taxi drop off location , convenient - lots of clean nice bathrooms throughout the hotel so you never have to worry about emergencies - the art everywhere is fun and risqué Cons: - whole hotel definitely smells like smoke - which is kind of to be expected on the strip. However I didn't realize how bad it was until we walked through Park MGM and my asthmatic lungs could breathe better lol - the check in process was disappointing. I understand that a room might not be ready at noon - but they said a text would come when the room was ready. We got the preliminary text telling us a text would come soon to confirm our room, but it never came. We happened to luckily check the MGM app randomly while eating elsewhere and saw the room was ready. I feel like people who weren't as on top of checking the app may have spent the whole day thinking the room wasn't ready, boo. - the checkout process was also crappy - we had late checkout at 4pm, and shortly before that we tried checking out at the kiosks in the lobby - but they didn't work for us or the party next to us also trying to check out and get their folio. Overall it seemed like the system wasn't really up to speed? Also saw other people at the kiosk struggling with checking in as well. - the elevators were VERY hot and stuffy. No AC or fans running. I found myself complaining about this repeatedly like the princess that I am - around 11am checkout time be prepared - there was a ride where it stopped on almost every floor on the way down, and every stranger in the elevator stuffed full of bodies complained about the same thing. AC and air circulation changes the whole elevator experience. - our bathroom toilet room smelled like sewage the entire stay and I'm not sure why. It's also unfortunate because the toilet room door is one that doesn't go to the ceiling or to the floor, so it can feel weird if you're sharing your room with other people. - on the morning of our last day we were running out of toilet paper (having chosen the environmental choice of skipping housekeeping the days before) and called housekeeping to bring a roll. They said it would "be right up", and it never came. - funny complaint that is not that big of a deal but since I'm out here giving feedback I might as well - the toilet room doesn't have any place to place your phone (you know How some toilet paper dispensers have a little tray on top to place your phone? This one doesn't have it ) - I know we shouldn't be taking our phones to the bathroom anyway - but in this scenario I was using it as a flashlight to not wake up my husband LOL so I did the gross thing and put my phone on the back of the toilet Overall - it did the job, and the location was prime for this particular trip and what we wanted to do. Also the Amex platinum credit was very helpful in making this stay feel worth it - I think I would've felt like the experience was subpar had I paid full price. The random weird things about the room like the smell and the elevators really bugged me for some reason. I would be open to staying here again for the right price and event. It definitely did not blow me away.

While we were here this time we indulged in some ice cream and really enjoyed the hand made ice cream. It really tasted handmade with bits of real strawberries in it. Last time we were here it was a special occasion and we went all out. We walked all though the strip just to get here to ride the gondola. Boy was that fun. No, it wasn't the same as the ones in Venice (I know because I've been in Venice and ridden one of their gondolas), but you know that going in. You're in Vegas so I didn't expect the same thing. I was looking forward to the Vegas version of this classic ride and I got it. Was it over priced? Yes. At the same time you get what you pay for. A fun ride around the camels in the Venetian Resort in Las Vegas. There was supposed to be an photographer taking our picture so we can buy at the end, but his camera malfunctioned so we didn't get the shot. This was a huge disappointment as I'm all about pictures and I really wanted the opportunity to see the glamorous shot the professional photographer took and if it captured the. Moment like i had I would have bought it. Fortunately we weren't totally relaying on him. We brought our own camera and took the perfect shot with the gondolier in the background and the bridge when you come out. It was perfect. You didn't have all the busyness of Vegas in the background. I'm overly thrilled with my photo, I got exactly what I paid for a fun ride and the perfect shot to frame and remember this day. And yes, I really did frame it and it sits on my piano. As long as you know what you're paying for, it's totally worth it. And now that you've seen my shot and know that it's taken at the end of the ride when you come out from under the bridge, you can get the same shot too. Have fun and enjoy Vegas and the Venetian. I have stayed in the regular rooms and suites at both The Venetian and The Palazzo. The venetian rooms are more updated, but the Palazzo rooms are good too. The self parking has a lot of spaces but ingress/egress is easier at The Palazzo. However the valet parking here is faster compared to other resorts. The rideshare pickup/dropoff is good too. The casino floor is bright, clean, and good gaming variety. For the slots, I like that they have both old and new machines. I like the older "top dollar" and "run for your money" machines. I also like some of the new machines like KONG . They also have a great variety of video poker, blackjack, roulette, and craps! I have yet to play at the tables here but they have a good variety. The beverage service is good, but coverage/timing could be improved. I feel like some parts of the casino floor do not get as much service. They also have a great variety of food and restaurant options for all budgets. My personal favorite here is Estiatorio Milos. A close second would be SushiSamba. However, I have never had a bad meal here. I also recommend Sugarcane, Chica, Cote, and Smith/Wollensky. I still want to try the other options here! Overall great place to stay or check out. Dining was also a success--the street tacos, nachos, and ramen were delicious, and our breakfast of muffins, bagels, and coffee was spot on. The staff throughout the resort were amazing, and although the pool was a bit crowded, it was kept very clean. While we had a wonderful time, there were some lapses in room service that need improvement. Unfortunately, our room was not thoroughly cleaned during our stay: the table was not cleared after our room service meal, there was some trash left on the floor, and the bathtub had not been properly scrubbed. This area of town isn't always fantastic, as we had less than amazing times at the Conrad, and across the street is the infamous Circus Circus which I won't get into lol. Soon as you walk in, I just love what they've done with the place. Elegant sculptures and architecture mixed with that really nice champagne and ocean blue theme really draw you in. The colors are relaxing, understated, ooze that luxury vibe. I didn't do any gambling but I liked the layout of the floor, they had a bar in the center too like a mini Chandelier Bar ala Cosmopolitan which was a nice touch. Given I booked through Amex Platinum they afford you a really nice amenity package that includes $70/day breakfast credits, a $100 towards drinks/food, wifi credits, and a pass apparently to the Poodle Room, a private bougie club with a dress code that unfortunately was closed only during the days I was there (super bummer!). We had a chance to eat at a few places, Vida, Chez Bon Bon, Komodo, all were really nice and good. Prices are a little high but this is typical in Vegas, the credits took the edge off so that promotion is a key factor in our visiting those locations. I would say though I'd love to see more restaurants open late, aside from Komodo. We were hoping to check out the washed potatoes but it closed too early. Also, while I didn't go, we had just got back from Mexico City last year and seeing Contramar opening a place up here is a fantastic addition. If they are anything like their MC location, you are in for a real treat with that. Absolutely killer seafood. The room which I got the upgrade for was stellar, we had a Panorama Suite, and it was by and large one of the best rooms I've had in Vegas, especially at the price I got it for. While the views are obviously not amazing given the location on the strip, I would definitely book that room again to host friends, etc. You do get to see the mountains which is nice at sunrise. They are a bit more secure at this facility, one thing I hadn't experienced in Vegas was the room key checks before the elevators. I understand the policy but I'd like to make special mention that when we came back from dinner the second night a taller dark skinned gentlemen, older, stopped us and was incredibly rude about it. We had no clue about the policy, and I mean I'm not stuck up at all, I'm a down to earth guy, but this guy acted like such a prick, I came back down to have a word with him about it. He had been swapped with two folks who were infinitely nicer who explained the reasoning for these checks in more detail and apologized on his behalf. Frankly, that's not good enough and management should really pull that guy off that station, you don't talk to people like that, and while it's not enough that I'd dog the property, less patient individuals definitely would. But I digress, this property hosts a lot of high end clientele, so they definitely take room security seriously which for some I assume is a plus. All in all I think this is a well kept property, with easy access to the strip, but enough local options to keep you busy during a short stay. With the added Amex bonuses, there is value to be found without a compromise to the luxury, I would definitely return here with pleasure.

There's a separate check-in area for The Reserve which I really liked. It was not crowded at all. Upon checkin, they gave me a coconut macaroon which was amazing! I did like that special touch. There are separate elevators going to the Reserve Rooms. However, it is still shared with some of the upper floors from Park MGM. I know that other hotels on the strip have separate elevators exclusively for separate parts of the hotel. I really enjoyed my Atelier room. It was a little bit larger than the standard room. The distinguishing factor about this room is really the bathtub in the room. However, the bathtub itself seems to be a liability for the hotel. I have to say that someone can easily slip and fall in the bathtub. Use extreme caution when using the bathtub. I loved the European french decor. The toilet was a little far away from the bed, but I suppose that is good if you are traveling with somone so when they went to the restroom, it would be less noticable (more privacy, less noise). Since they are hardwood floors, I can hear chairs being moved around from the rooms above me during my stay. I was a little bit irked. Other than that, my stay was quite enjoyable at The Reserve.

The lobby where we checked in was super dark and moody. There was a lot of seating and nice decor. It was chilly in there which felt like a nice escape from the Vegas heat. It was relatively quick for us to get checked in and receive our keys. This dark and dramatic theme is carried throughout the hotel and to the guest room areas too. We were put in Rm 30-24, which we converted into an adjoining room with Suite 30-22. Our room felt small to me. The bed takes up the majority of the room with little walking space. There is a desk, flat screen TV, sofa, and small wardrobe. The closet is pretty spacious and has some robes, slippers, and a steamer. The sofa was very stiff and honestly looked a bit dingy. There were crumbs on the seat and the pillows were incredibly old and limp. I was hesitant to sit on it! The closet felt disproportionately large for the room. I would have preferred a smaller closet to have more space in the room itself. The rooms and hallways are all so dark. There is no overhead lighting, only tiny lamps throughout the room. I am personally not a fan of this as it made the room feel even smaller and claustrophobic. I understand they are trying to make it feel ambient and moody, but the way it was presented felt more like sleeping in a cave. Inside the closet was the brightest area of the hotel! If you choose to have a conjoined room, it is impractical to keep the doors open. When the adjoining doors are open, it is impossible to use the doors facing the hallway. Everything was cramped and the doors were constantly banging against each other. The bathroom was nice with a spacious shower. The water pressure was slightly better than average, but not super strong. They provided the usual amenities: shampoo, conditioner, body lotion, shower gel, cotton swabs + cotton pads, makeup remover wipes, and a shower cap. I must say, the shampoo and conditioner were spectacular. My hair felt super soft and had no frizz when it dried. It smelled very nice too. The rest of the hotel was just okay. There is not much to do besides lay at the pool and gamble. It is pretty quiet and laid-back. That being said, the casino was pretty small. I did like that it was non-smoking though so it was not suffocating to walk through it. I enjoyed the pool area. Despite it being a hot summer day, there was plenty of seating and lounge chairs available. The music the DJ was playing was really good and the pool was super chilly. This is definitely not my first choice for a Vegas hotel but I could stay here again.

However, for those of us who come to Vegas often, staying at those hotels often means higher prices and headaches with navigating around the busy traffic. Having stayed at most of the larger hotels (The Luxor, The Bellagio, Encore at Wynn, Park MGM etc) I've had my fill of the dazzling lights and boisterous crowds. I do recommend you try these hotels at least a few times to truly soak in the bustle of Las Vegas night life. For me, I prefer to stay adjacent to, but not within, The Strip. This way, I can have some comfort in a quieter setting and can call an uber at any moment to meet friends along The Strip. This was the reason I chose Nirvana Hotel. Situated right next to The Luxor and The Mandalay Bay, it is both affordable and close to the attractions I come to Vegas for. The exterior is a bit off-putting at first. You aren't greeted with the pristine fountained welcome that you expect from Vegas--the wonderful precession of marble floors, the lush green plants, the ornate chandeliers. The main check-in station is inside the souvenir shop which resembles that of a run down gas station. Service is quick and the check-in process is painless. Their doors all use numbers so you don't have to worry about misplacing your card. Just don't get so drunk you forget! The room itself is very humble: queen bed, LG tv, two night stands, a small fridge, and a walk-in shower. Clean, organized, and arranged professionally. I will definitely stay here again. Connie was at the reception and welcomed me warmly. Parking is free. That's right. FREE. For your entire duration of stay.

My favorite part of the Golden Nugget is their shark tank pool, but sadly the tank has a crack, so most of the sharks and fish have been removed, but the pool is still open. Their pool is small and only gets sun from about 10am until 3pm because of their new tower. On Fridays Tons of amazing food options are offered here. Everything from fine dining to fast food; the Chart House (seafood), Red (sushi), Cadillac (mexican), The Grille (24-hour diner food), and a Chick-fil-A that opened until 2am Mon - Fri. Definitely book a table at Vic & Anthony's, arguably one of Vegas' best steakhouses. Along with quick access to Fremont street and the local downtown scene, the Golden Nugget is a must stay if you've never been before.

Husband reordered one and was the right color and could taste the booze. Bartender for years I would never send those drinks out. Or a little gambling here and there. They do have a nice strip that suppose to resemble the cobble streets of the city. With restaurants, pizza shops, and everything you think New York City has. Its a cute little wander to see what they have. Il Fornaio is a restaurant that we also frequent at this hotel. What's also good about this place, they have a section that caters to kids. The little arcade areas and the roller coasters. Not a lot of hotels have things for minors which helps when you have family that's underage. Mainly we've been popping in for the sports bar for all the sports that's been happening lately. It's a decent hotel and casino. Pretty affordable and you feel like you're getting your moneys worth. I don't know if rooms are updated as it's been years since I was last here. But they do have some nice restaurants along the cobble streets. More of a take out and find a place to sit restaurant, but pretty cool.
