Curt caused damage during inspection. When confronted he explained that he was probing for wood rot…read moreor termite damage. He admitted using a screwdriver to pry a piece of molding out and folding it down. He did similar damage to a door and door frame. The buyer compensated the seller for the damage. He started his report by stating that the garage would not be included in the report as requested by the buyer as it was not warranted (it was detached, older and needed some work) then he continued page after page to write up the poor condition of the garage. The home was 70 years old and therefore had the issues of a older home... 2 prong plugs which he said were a problem, no gutters another problem... he found problems with everything and made the home look like a disaster which it isn't. The home is solid with a slab foundation which of course he said had minor cracks that could be a problem.... hello... concrete gets minor cracks over time. The buyers decided not to purchase. The end of his report list 20 contractors he recommends, he says he doesn't get kickbacks but advises to mention his name. The report is not buyer friendly and as a Realtor I found it to be a itemized in a way that will scare a buyer away from the purchase.

His report did not mention any mold or moisture issues and that is the reason I purchased the house.Three weeks later I hired a contractor to replace my floors and he discovered mold 4 feet high in 4 rooms to the point that the interior walls were crumbling. I called David and sent emails with pictures and he claimed that I was being scammed and wanted to charge me to have the mold tested when clearly my walls were falling apart. He has not replied to my emails and I will report him to the better business bureau. I have plenty of pictures to prove it. His negligence put me in a financial hardship.

Working with the realtor, Acusystems was recommended, in particular David G. The inspection was performed and I received the reports stating their were some minor issues. I used this inspection as part of my decision to move forward and buy the house. Prior to the move, I scheduled an air conditioner company to go and perform a check-up and change all filters. During this service, it was noted that the air conditioning filter and vent contained mold and rust that were never mentioned on the inspection report from Acusystems. It is my opinion that the Acusystem inspection by David G was nothing more then turning the air conditioner on and once it worked, check the box. Due to this miss, I needed to invest in repairs in the thousands of dollars. When I contacted my realtor and David G, I was told it must of been something that happened after the inspection. Rust and mold do not appear overnight. The response I received when I reported this was "call your insurance company, maybe they'll take care of it". Needless to say, they did not since the issues were caused before the purchase of the house and subject to my policy. I would never use this company again, nor recommend their services to anybody else I care about.

When it came time to have the home we were hoping to buy inspected my real estate agent told us…read morethat he would handle everything. He set us up with Thomson Home Inspections. Dave, the owner of Thomson, went through the house and found everything that was wrong, be it large or small. He documented each issue using both words and pictures and made suggestions for how what we might want to do to fix them. He then compiled all of this information in a big blue binder with his business name on it and sent it to us in the mail (as well as through email). When our insurance company required us to fix something quickly and complete a wind mitigation or risk being dropped, Dave came back out when we were ready for him and reinspected the issue. He answered my questions about the process and also explained why he was doing what he was doing and what some of the insurance company's lingo meant. He was easy to talk to and well informed about what he was doing. Because we didn't shop around, I can't really comment on Thomson's prices (were they too high? were you getting a steal?). I do know that they seemed reasonable for the amount of information that we were given. If you need a home to be inspected, I definitely recommend calling up Thomson Home Inspections and at least getting a quote.
