Kevin made our home inspection very easy and comfortable. As first time home buyers, the whole process was very foreign and a little scary to us. Kevin thouroghly examined and explained all aspects of our house, and offered his advice on things to fix or change in person and in the report. He also double checked areas of concern that we had when he was finished with the inspection, something we very much appreciated for some peace of mind. First off, anyone that has ever been a first time home buyer knows how stressful the entire process can be. Kevin Bennett made this part of my journey very pleasant. Before I even knew that my offer on the house had been accepted, I did my due diligence in searching for the best people/companies that I may have to use along the way (i.e. home inspection, termite inspection, home owners insurance, etc.). Of course I turned to yelp.com because hearing testimonials from real people will influence my opinions a lot more than a fancy website with pretty pictures. That being said, lets get to Kevin. After my first email interaction requesting a quote, Kevin had responded to me in just under 2 hours (not bad since I sent the email at 5 am). He was very knowledgeable and explained what his cost would be and what it included. Since I am a pretty frugal person, I opted to have the 4 point inspection and the wind mitigation as well as the standard home inspection. Saving money in the long run with insurance credits definitely helps. We stayed in contact for several days and once my offer was accepted and the contract was drawn up, we set a date for the inspection. I was thinking I would have to rearrange my schedule to make this happen, but to my surprise it was scheduled for the next day (a day I already had off of work). Kevin set the appt for 1130 am. After speaking with my realtor, I needed to reschedule for a half hour earlier. This was not a problem. Kevin was prompt in his arrival to the property and wasted no time in getting to work. Before I knew it, he was inspecting EVERY inch of the property with camera in hand. Documenting everything, he then went through another walkthrough with me. He explained what I was looking at and let me know whether or not it was cosmetic or something I needed to be concerned with (luckily there wasn't much more than cosmetic). We used Kevin for a new construction build that sadly turned out not to be anywhere near ready for inspection/closing (builder issue), but despite the surprise he still followed through and gave us a thorough report and assessment of the unit as it was, even though this required much more work on his part than would normally be expected of a brand new home closing inspection. He was extremely helpful and compassionate in person throughout the inspection, and the report he provided afterwards was thorough and easy to understand. He easily worked around our schedule, as we were flying in from out of town. Kevin completed an inspection on 2 investment properties we were looking at - price was approximately $500 per home. My comments relate to interactions with Kevin in the process of trying to schedule an inspection. I had received an email from Kevin with his inspection agreement referencing the date of my inspection. I thought we had an appointment scheduled and that the paperwork could be done at any point prior to the inspection date which was a couple of weeks away. I checked back with him about a week later only to find out that he had given my spot to someone else saying that he works on a first come first served basis. That would have been fine had he told me that in one of our phone calls or in the emails that he sent me. But, he did not. So, that is why I would only rate him two stars. I have experienced far better communication from service providers and recommend that Kevin change his practices so that he can earn higher ratings in the future. He was apologetic and seemed like a decent guy. I write this review in the hopes that he will accept it as constructive feedback that will inspire him to improve his communication. read more
