I will do quite a bit of my grocery shopping on days when I want my dinner from the grill/ deli even though prices are higher than any grocery store in Monroe.More often than not the grill does not have what was advertised and what I went to Hilite for. How the food from the grill is handled is also suspect. read more

Nice little grocery store. I think it was renovated not too long ago. Its nice from not having to deal with big crowded box store chains. With that being said their items are slightly higher priced. The place is neat and clean with very friendly and helpful staff. They have a great deli and offer some really good hot food options and those items are a reasonable price. You may phone your order in ahead of time or waiting standing room only takes about 10 minutes to cook up a killer burger as a meal comes with steak fries and a can of pop think it was $6.75 and was really good. They have quite a few items so I will be posting menu's etc. read more

Ehhh... didn't want to face the crowd at Meijer's for the holiday weekend so went to Hi-Lite. We got the brilliant idea to make ambrosia and looked up a recipe online. The easiest one had a cup of sour cream, a cup of marshmallows, a cup of coconut flakes, and two cups of fruit ( either canned pineapple and mandarin orange slices, or whatever combinations please you). We needed the coconut, sour cream, and marshmallows and needed it made fast to mellow in the refrigerator for dinner. So, in to Hi-Lite! It's a blast from the past-tiny, worn, kinda like Grandma's housecoat, the one you meant to replace this birthday, but gave her bingo money instead. Be careful shopping and check the dates on perishables. Don't look for lots of variety, but you will get in and out quickly. Don't go crazy getting anything else, either, because some of the stuff is expensive. Example, a frozen dinner can be $1.00 more than at Meijer's. Choices are also limited and if they have a sale it might be picked over by the time you get there. read more

Purchased several Horizon milks on sale. About 1/3 of them were over a year expired. The month prior purchased a chocolate cake that was rock hard stale. I contacted the store manager Laurie. I will not be frequenting this establishment in the future UPDATE - I was contacted by one of the owners, Marvin Yono offering a $25 gift certificate for the expired/stale/tainted items purchased. He has my original cashier receipt for the items. Any other store would've have simply issued a cash refund. This establishment is simply bad business all the way around. !!!BUYER BEWARE!!! Unless you can afford double the cost of your groceries for a week, shop elsewhere. Ordered groceries for pick up. They put a hold on my card for $150.00, the amount I spent, as expected. Then when I picked it up, they charged the card for the whole $150.00, leaving the $150.00 hold still pending in my account. That was 3 days ago. That first hold ties up money that is not theirs, nor is it owed to them. I asked if it's common practice to withhold customers own money from them for days AFTER THEY HAVE ALREADY BEEN PAID; Yep. The "manager" I spoke with was condescending and rude. It makes absolutely NO SENSE why they would choose to do business this way. Completely unnecessary. Shop at Meijers or Walmart or Kroger or Danny's. Better management. Better selection. Better prices. Better service. At least they don't double charge for pick up orders. read more

Hi-Lite renovated a few years ago, and the newly improved store is stunning! The work they did turned out so good. The store is small, but they carry most things you will need. I especially love their deli/bakery! They also recently started delivering some of their deli items via UberEats. Major bonus!!! Also love that they carry local products- scally wags dog treats, Calders dairy products. I frequently catch myself running in here to grab these random / local products! read more

Worked here in the past, went on to better tidings. Came back once there was an opening in a different department just to be told the managers were talking garbage about me. Elected there wasn't much point in me working there if I wasn't welcome. Went in today to collect my one day check, got payed less than minimum wage and less hours than I worked according to my check. read more

I've been going to Hi-Lite a little more often lately to avoid travelling to the bigger grocery stores. In the past, it wasn't so great, but it seems to be a little better the past few months. It seems a bit cleaner and more well-stocked than it used to. Produce seems to be a bit fresher as well. It's a good store to shop at if you are looking for more mainstream items or want to pick up something from their deli. Meat selection is pretty good as well. However, it's a tiny store so don't expect a huge selection. One thing to keep in mind though, is that they often only have one lane open. There's no u-scans or express lanes, so your trip for a loaf of bread may still take you fifteen minutes to get through the lane. read more

Got the ribs for $10.00 yesterday, what a great deal! And they were so delicious can't wait for that again. A nice convenient store has items you don't see around too much, got me a value card so me and the wife will definitely be visiting often. read more

This Market had become an eye-sore under the previous owner and then was bought by a grocer from out of town who has renovated the building and improved the product immensely over the past several years. I only gave it a four because of the crowded aisles and the lousy electric carts they have for the disabled to use. read more

watch out for their deceptive advertising and shelf tags. Last week and this week they had 8 packs of pepsi - 3 for $10. the only place that it says you HAVE to buy 3 to get that price is in the flyer. ALL of the shelf tags said 3 for $10 - no qualifier of having to buy 3. This in in direct violation of the Michigan Retail Item Pricing Law. I pointed this out to Randy the manager LAST week and they're still in violation. I guess my next step is to file a complaint with the Michigan AG's office. Be aware of their tactics!!! read more

My favorite grocery store! The best meat, produce, deli and bakery around! Very clean and organized and beautiful since the remodel. Great locally made products like pickles, honey, preserves and sauces. I was a big supporter of Hi Lite market, despite the much higher prices than mega-stores. However, what happened today has caused me and friends, not to shop there ever again. As an elderly couple we were supposed to travel for Thanksgiving with family. However, health issues has made this impossible. I went to Hi Lite Market to order a Thanksgiving diner for two. Only to find out that I was a few hours late to order it. The management would make no exceptions whatsoever, and were fairly stand offish about the whole issue even after I explained myself. This is why small businesses are failing in the United States, because they are operated by pilgarlic individuals and they refuse to be flexible, and super store succeed because they bend over backwards to be flexible. I will never shop at Hi Lite Market again, I have never been so disappointed and hurt in my life, and this is the first time ever we will not have a Thanksgiving dinner read more
