Most people order food to go, but you can eat there if you like. They have a great 4 side lunch or a sandwich and side. The ambiance is bargain basement Middle Eastern. Tiger Bakery is the height of Toledo cuisine. It's not fancy and there's no table service. It's just fantastic food. Watch out for the staff. They will ply you with free samples and convince you to order much more food than you intended. It will be new and delicious and half the reason to come. The lunch specials are what most people get. I recommend the four side combo for about $9. The chicken skewers are great and come in three flavors, all great. I particularly like the spicy. The lentil salad is nice for a balance. There are five or six rices that are all great. I'm a huge fan of the dajjaj. It's chicken and green peppers in a mild, tomatoey sauce. It has a touch of sweet in the savory and goes well over rice. DO NOT FORGET THE HUMMUS. I have lived in LA, DC, and NY, all food meccas. Nobody has hummus like this. It is smooth and almost creamy. Yes, it's great for pita, but dip your chicken in it, spread it on a meat pie. The flavor is not overpowering. I like the red pepper hummus best, but the plain hummus is still better than any hummus I've ever had. Park in back and enter there. There are one or two tables to eat at, but most people take out. Tried the chicken shawarma today. My old review stands for everything else. While the sandwich was good, it's not enough to raise the star rating on this place. The sandwich is average. Which is not a bad thing, I'd eat it again. The meat tasted great. I prefer my shawarma sandwiches warm, because of what's on this one it can't be that way. The chicken is heated, but the rest of cool. It had tomatoes, hummus, a pickle onions and lettuce on it. First time I've ever had lettuce on this type of sandwich. It was a nice touch. Next time I'll ask to have a bit of garlic sauce spread on as well I think that might make all the difference. Service at this place remains above average and most of the other dishes are very strong. read more

This is the first Lebanese bakery I hit in the Sylvania/Toledo area. I knew it is a great one as soon as I entered the place. The smells!!! OMG! It was the most homey, comforting smell I have encountered. I tried a couple of absolutely wonderful kibbes with this wickedly garlicky sauce on the side; super smooth hummus; the minced lamb filled pastries were also to die for. And finally, the friendly lady behind the counter convinced me to get a couple of fresh out of the oven stuffed zucchinis...oh my...am I glad I got those! Tiger Bakery is probably the eatery that I would miss the most if I ever moved away from Toledo. Everything at Tiger is fresh and flavorful. You can see the grandmas preparing things in the back. There is something about the hummus that is just different from (and so much better than) every other hummus I have ever had. It's thinner and more lemony. The pita bread is still warm if you catch it at the right time. The grape leaves are tart and snappy. The tabouli is crisp and delicious. The spinach pies are pillowy and rich. They have creamy Bulgarian feta and dry Moroccan olives. I could go on. Basically, this is the standard by which I judge all other mediterranean/Lebanese food. When my SO and I first started dating, he'd occasionally mention Tiger Bakery back in his hometown of Toledo, OH and how totally amazing it was. Later, we got serious enough for me to meet the folks. Yay! The drive from Atlanta sucked, but my first visit to Tiger Bakery was the sweet, sweet reward. (his parents are also pretty cool) I've been back here a couple of times since. Each visit, my SO and I choose 6-8 different dishes, a spinach and feta pie or two, and a buttload of pita bread. We then spend the rest of our time in town scarfing it all down. The best thing here is by far the hummus. It's so smooth and creamy and has the perfect balance of ingredients. Other standouts include the falafal sandwich, the aforementioned pies, and the dajjaj. Oh, and the tabouli. I am obsessed with that stuff. Oh, and the baklava! I guess what I'm trying to say is that you should just order one of everything. Enjoy! read more

Great, great food. I've never been the hugest fan of Mediterranean/Lebanese food, but every now and then it hits me and I always call up a friend to get lunch at Tiger Bakery when it does. It's a brilliant restaurant and bakery scheme. You've got rows and rows of everything you can think of and delicacies you've never tried behind a glass display. You have the choice to pay by the weight or go for the lunch or dinner specials. One sandwich and two sides for 6.99 or four sides for the same price, and the portions are large! I really love the fatayer, which are these slightly sweet crusty small pies filled with cheese(my favorite of the choices), or meat, or veggies, Deffffinitely tons of choices for the vegetarian if you float your boat that way. I really like the kafta, which is like a hotdog sized piece of fragrant beef mixed with spices. I cut it up in small pieces and dipped it in their hommus, oh goodness. The tawook chicken on a skewer is moist and well seasoned. Then of course, you have a million other sides you can combine so that your meal is always something refreshing each time you go. The neat part is they have a small section of seating so you can enjoy your food in store with a friend, and the server will ask you if you want it heated up. Do you? Of course. Added bonus (beside the baklava) is that you can peep into a side area and see the many ladies chopping and preparing these amazing family recipes. Definitely some fresh food! read more

This is real talk. After just ten minutes in the store, I was getting very sad at the realization that I'd soon have to leave...and that I might never be back. After all, I live more than a thousand miles away. Such a wide variety of food for such decent prices! And groceries! But in the end it all comes down to flavoring. When I go to Lebanese restaurants I look for subtle differences. A key difference I often see is that some restaurants will dumb down the flavoring so it's more accessible to a wider audience. I'm going to write the same review for both locations as I feel their food is on the same level: outstanding. I lived in the Southeastern Michigan area for four years so I know good Middle Eastern food. When my favorite place in Michigan closed down a year or so ago, I was totally bummed, thought I would never find hummus-like-crack again. Boy, was I wrong! And beyond that, it wasn't even in Michigan! Both Tiger Lebanese Bakeries (the one in Sylvania and the other on Monroe in Toledo) have outstanding hummus, tabouli, fattoush, spinach pies, and grape leaves. Tiger Bakery is a wonderful little bakery, deli, and grocery store. My husband and I love picking out 4 or 5 dishes for dinner, and we have never been disappointed. My favorites are the falafel and stuffed grape leaves, and they have a dish that is potatoes in tahini sauce - fantastic! Actually, you can't go wrong with any of the potato dishes. The Mediterranean pastries are great, too. We've served food from Tiger Bakery at many a party, and it's an inexpensive way to please a lot of people! The only issue I've had is that the pita bread must be eaten quickly or else it molds, but it's worth it for fresh food! We also love buying Turkish Delight and baklava there, and my husband loves the dates and apricot fruit leather they sell. Great mom and pop place. I received this recommendation from my friend, because I would not have otherwise found this place. Boy am I glad I did though. There are so many options for both meats and sides. The ladies behind the counter are super patient and will tell you a little about each option. The lunch special is served all day and includes a sandwich and two sides. It's more than enough for two meals, one if you're super hungry. I was just there earlier today. I went there to pick up some snacks for my road trip back to NY. I found them on Yelp. I have to say I found the food to very well made and fresh. I loved their Kibbeh, meat and spinach pastries! I have to say they were the best ! The employees were very polite and helpful. And you can tell there is turn over in the products . 2015-02-08 Gerry and I stopped in just to check it out and perhaps buy something for lunch the next day. Everything in the deli case looked delicious. We decided to pick up some tabbouli, lamb biryani (a favorite of mine), one fried Kibbi, a spinach fatayer pie, and, of course a bag of what looked to be very crunchy pita chips with zatar. Everything was very tasty. I especially enjoyed the use of spices and the spiciness of the lamb biryani. The tabbouli had very little lemon juice and oil on it which we prefer. That way it stays fresh longer and we can add as much as we want to it. We will definitely be stopping in again to try the other items in the deli. And if we time it right we may even try a sit-down meal. Pita chips rather than crackers or potato chips are our go to food when we want something with a satisfying crunch.Tiger's Pita chips with zatar were some of the best we have every had---crunchy, not too salty and lots of Zatar.
