Super helpful and knowledgeable staff, great selection, of wine, beer, liquor, cigars, cheese and meats, chasers, etc...and the prices were very competitive!! Hi-Time is like Disneyland for drinkers. If you can't find something here then you are on the wrong planet. I usually like to get lost in the wine cellar for about forever but there are other places to get in trouble as ell like the beer cooler. It's one of the few places that has rare local beers like those from SLO Brewery up in San Luis Obispo. At the end of the day, I'm glad that I don't live right down the street from here because they would start to feel like I have moved in. read more

They have every wine, liquor and beer at every price point and if they don't have it they can order it. Certain staff is more knowledgeable than others but everyone is super friendly and helpful. We love trying out wines from different regions and the brief descriptions are helpful and even include wine point ratings if they have them. We love the Willamette Valley Pinot Noirs! They have excellent tastings on a weekly basis from various wine regions. Review #300!!! Woot Woot! Saving the best for this tricentenial landmark, the legendary Hi-times Cellars. Sounds like a weed shop though, doesn't it? I assure you that as long as your religion and culture hasn't guilt tripped you into sobriety, Hi-Times is akin to Mecca, Medina, the Hajj, Valhalla and Seventh Heaven as the alcoholic's must-see destination in Orange County. Located just off 17th Street it has ample parking, and while fairly large on the outside, it is deceptive on how big this place really is! I mean it's fucking huge inside and a subterranean maze in the temperature controlled wine cellar was the highlight of my recent visit. Last time I was here I only bought Scotch and various hard to find mixers necessary for true mixology. On that account you are covered for sure. Aisle after aisle of hard liquors you are both familiar with and astonished to see those you didn't know existed. Speaking of which, do browse the display cases. The rarest and most expensive stuff eagerly awaits the well-heeled shopper. Craft beer is your thing you say? Sure, shitty beers like Coors Light are stocked, but if you want Pliny, keep searching... Oh well, even heaven runs out of high demand cult brews. The Belgian selection took up three racks in the large refrigerated section. Amazing and overwhelming frankly. Wine, Vin, Vino, whatever your language, this is the store's hallmark and claim to fame. Naturally, they sell cheese, crackers and salami to sate your appetite. My photos cannot do justice, only whet your appetite for the surprisingly affordable offerings laid down in meticulously organized sections. Sure, the high end magnums will set you back a bit, but they lay down and age at a slower rate, hence their popularity with serious collectors. Excellent selection of wines (especially their reds) and hard-to-find collector liquor. Staff is knowledgeable, friendly, and eager to assist with whatever price range your looking for. They have a small cheese section on the left of the entrance when you walk in. They tend to sell their liquor cheaper than other locations that I've been to (grocery stores and other liquor stores). Vast amount of parking available. It can seem a little disorganized with all the liquor and boxes lying around, luckily the staff is very helpful here. read more

I haven't seen selection like this anywhere else. It's a unique place offering a great variety. I was accompanying my husband and I thought nothing would interest me here. I was wrong, I picked up a bottle of Mexican Coca Cola. I walked around and was offered assistance by the salespeople. I was really just walking around and browsing but I appreciated their offers to assist. I saw familiar looking selections (Crown Royal, Glenfiddich Scotch Whiskey) and quite a few names I did not recognize. If you want to try something new, I think this would be a place where you could find a lot to choose from. If you want the tried and true names, they're here, too. Great place. read more

Second visit attending their sake tasting event. This year they're promoting monthly sake tasting. There is no sushi, just edamame beans. You may want to grab something heavier to eat before it starts - unless you're fond of being whoozy... First time I was here, they had sake 10 samples. This time had 7. It was a different distributor. Samples are poured for you. You use the same glass. It's an option to spit just like wine. They actually have a spitune. There are primary distributors that also hold sake tasting events at convention centers or county fair grounds. For a not so crowded venue, the ones held at Hi-time are ideal. Follow them on instagram or visit their website to view their calendar. Their Cellar also has self-serve wine tasting. Vending is from a wall set up. If I recall correctly, there are about 4 stations each with 3-4 wine selections. Something new and cool to me. You obtain a smart card and get it filled with your desired amount, and enter into the slots to activate the vending. A cheese plate was being served for this. The sake tasters and wine tasters share space in the cellar so its cozy but not insane. The beverages presented at these events are available in store. It's one of the stores I've learned has something in stock versus other vendors. Example, they carry MIO a sparkling sake in a blue bottle almost the size of a beer bottle - one I can't find elsewhere. I recommend attending one or a few of the events here. They introduced me to Green Spot, my favorite Irish Whiskey by my telling me about why it is different and why I might like it. They were right on all counts. Selection? A lot. Service is excellent, their people are very knowledgeable. Ambiance in abundance as their selection make you happy. It is a go to for when I want to try something unique. Hi-times is basically the vatican of excellent wide selection of any alcohol. I highly suggest to drop in on Thursdays for wine theme tasting. Hosted most of the time by the world famous Todd. He has a naturally ability to help you mingle with others and make new friends. Never the less all staff is knowledgeable and polite. Always make you feel part of the family. Prices vary but for my red wines I find good prices. They also have a wide selection of cheeses. In case you want to nibble while having a glass of wine. This store is beyond AMAZING!!! Not only do they have the wisest selection of all kinds of spirits, they also have a wine cellar and a wine tasting bar! They have fun events like tastings of food pairings and so on. They even have a vending machine" with selected wines on tap!!!????!!! JUST WOW. I especially appreciate that they have a wide variety of organic wines since I'm very sensitive to sulfates. For some reason, I can drink red if it's organic/biodynamic. Their staff is always busy, so it may appear that they're being aloof, but just ask and they'll help you. AWESOME LOCAL BUSINESS!!! Oh and they do curb side pickup!
