This place is definitely a hidden gem! I wasn't expecting much based on the appearance of the store. I visited this place on a Saturday evening. They were really busy but the staffs were able to handle the phone orders and walk-in orders in a jiffy. I order the special family dinner - D1 which comes with 2 pops, 4 spring rolls, teriyaki chicken, steak and shrimp and miso soup for $24.99. My order arrived pretty quick and the portion size was more than enough for two people. For the price and portion size, I think it's definitely worth it. It reminds me of a upscale food court vibe. I will be coming back and trying other food items on the menu! I can't wait. Note: there are no seatings inside so make sure you find another spot to enjoy your food. Also, they only take cash or debit.

We ordered the lunch special for $7.99 which includes selected entree, drink, and vegatables (zucchini, onions and carrots) I was disappointed by the meal this time. 99% onions. Who eats this many onions? No one! The owners were either bring cheap or trying to get rid of onions. Either way I won't likely return. We ordered the chicken teriyaki and chicken and beef skewer combo. Meat flavour is good but when factoring in portion size and the onions, I'll pass.

4/5 stars. This is the place to go to if you're looking for decently priced, decently portioned Chinese fast food. Honestly didn't know what to expect given the name. I really thought a teppanyaki place but it's more like a fast food Chinese place. While the menu may seem limited in selection the dishes we ordered were pretty good. I got the short rib with rice (no veggies) and Steak/shrimp rice combo. The hibachi short ribs ($13.50) are amazing. It was so tender and flavourful. And there's a decent portion that you get for the price you pay. It also came with like a sweet beef kinda sauce? That was nice and tasty. The rice seemed to be a soy sauce fried rice. Nicely well done and not too oily. The steak and shrimp combo ($13.30) was lacking a bit of flavour, but it came with a aioli type sauce and hot sauce. Same rice and the vegetables were aplenty. Carrot, broccoli, onion and mushroom, all slightly sautéed in butter. The lady was extremely pleasant and the customer service was good. I look forward to coming back here again.

Yes!! If you are in the area, this is the place to go for some amazing food! It looks small and the plaza looks really non engaging but I always say, never judge a gem by where it's buried! ;) The staff here are the friendliest people ever. Happy people making happy food! The price is amazing and the portions are fantastic! They make it all to order so your food is always fresh off the flat grill and they have a variety of sauces too like the yum yum sauce! My top recommending is the short ribs. You should see how much comes with an order!! Delicious to the last bite :) the rice is a Japanese style rice that tastes and feels very unique. Simple yet very flavorful. I really appreciate that everything is not full of sodium so you can actually taste the food for how it should taste. Give it a try! Sit in or grab some take out! Absolutely worth it. This is our go to spot for the weekends

I wanted to check out Hibachi Grill since yesterday. The second I walked in, the owners were so warm, friendly and welcoming. We asked them to recommend which dish is good, they recommended short ribs and squid. So I ordered the squid and shrimp combo. Food: Extremely good portion. They made there own yum yum sauce and it was just as yum yum as it sounds! The squid, they gave us like a full squid to go with my shrimp. The flavour were good and ingredients was fresh. It is definitely comparable to teppanyaki at restaurants. Seating 3-4 tables, it is more for take out. But you can sit there. Overall, a very good first experience. You can tell that the owner put his hearts to it. Definitely worth a try if you are out in the area.

Have come to Hibachi Grill on a number of occasions, never disappointed. Consistent quality of food, great service. Great lunch special if you are able to catch it during the time slot. Regardless the regular menu consists of a variety of items. Good selection of protein is available from your typical beef, pork, chicken to seafood. My order is usually the Spicy Chicken. Well flavored meat with adequate portion size to complement the bed of soft rice and grilled veggies. On top of that the sauce ..... The sauce ...... YumYum sauce, I don't know what it is but its appropriately named. Hot sauce, good kick. Teriyaki sauce never hurts to drizzle on. Add to your heart's content. I normally don't care about service at fast food locations but in the case, the owner and the family must be highlighted. Great people, down to earth. Always ready to serve great food. Would recommend and obviously going again. 5/5

This has become one of my go-to places. The food is always so fresh, portions are large, and the family that owns the place is always so welcoming and helpful. Their KBBQ, steak, shrimp, chicken and squid is just so good!!! I usually get it with the rice, and top it off with that yum yum sauce. Not sure what that sauce consists of but it's so addicting! This seems to be one of Pickering's hidden gems. From food to customer service, it's no wonder this place is a hit! I usually call in and place my order, and the food is ready in 15-20 mins that way I can just grab it to go. The restaurant itself isn't the biggest, and can can sometimes get warm, especially in the summer. Food tastes great even after a drive home.

Hibachi Grill is a little shop further east in Pickering. It is a family owned business and let me tell you, there food is amazing! I would definitely say it is worth the travel to get some delicious grilled food. There is something about how they grill their food and the sauces they have to add extra flavour. If you are there, ask for the YUM YUM sauce. I have no idea what ingredients make up this sauce, but it is outstanding. I had the spicy chicken and shrimp and my bf had the chicken and steak. Both with fried rice and vegetables and spring rolls. I would definitely choose either one of these combos again. It was so cute seeing a little girl, whom I'm assuming is the daughter of the owner, serve us. She was very polite and informative of what my options are in the menu. I would highly recommend this little restaurant for food on the go and dine in. Definitely my go to place when in Pickering!

I love this place for casual lunch. They have lunch special (even on the weekends) that's cheap and comes with lots of food. Service is amazing and the diner is little and clean. I'll come back again soon. P.s the white sauce is amazing. Try it on meat or rice.

The quality and seasoning of meat were great. The spicy shrimp was lovely. The miso salmon was nice and soft. The same clams were lacking a little flavour and there were no vermicelli. The fries, takoyaki, wings and cheesy corn were great. I was surprised to see takowasa. It was not bad but could use more of the crunchy veggies and more wasabi flavours. The bibimbap was meatless and could use more sauce but the rice and egg was perfect. They offered a good Melona variety. The creme brulee was ordered to torch and came in a legit ramekin but I wished the sugar crust was thicker. Great service and environment. I did find the seats a bit cramped especially when sharing the middle booth. We were reminded of the 1.5hr last call and 2hr seating limit a few times though. Afterwards, I drove around the plaza to figure out what businesses were there. I was happy to see Fuwa Fuwa Dessert Cafe. I had flagged coming here. Well, it took a gathering of three friends with me to visit this cafe last Thursday. I had only visited the Fuwa Fuwa location in Vaughan. This one in Pickering is special for a bunch of reasons. There was lots of parking at 6 pm on a Thursday evening that was threatening freezing rain. Luckily, we only got rain. Yay! I backed into a tight parking spot. The tight part was due to a snowbank that was in front of the row of parking. I threw out some garbage from my car into a receptacle near this business. I saw one of my friends in the cafe already. Another one said hi to me when I grabbed the door. Our third friend came in a few minutes later. We are a punctual group. It was nice. I looked at the desserts display that I was sitting next to. First, it's deadly to be that close to baked goods. Second, there was a lot of ube. This cafe has Filipino and Japanese influences in its menu offerings. It's cool to me! I had meant to get something with ube in it. I need to go back! We were here for dinner. Normally, you think of fluffy, giggly pancakes when you're at Fuwa Fuwa. This restaurant had a Japanese eats menu. We got the following Japanese combos: - Combo A for two people: - Teriyaki pork katsu rice - Chicken karaage curry - Two miso soups - Two cans of pop - Combo B for two people: - Udon noodle soup - Teriyaki chicken karaage - Two iced matcha lattes We shared the mains and soups family-style, so we could sample everything. Our mains and miso soups came out first. The drinks came out last. The teriyaki pork katsu on rice was yummy. The katsu was crispy on the outside and perfect inside. The rice was fluffy and had some green onions and furikake (dried seaweed flakes). One friend wanted more furikake on it. The rest of us were fine with what we got. I've been into Japanese curry for the longest time. This place made it well. The chicken karaage was crispy, as the curry was separate on the plate and so flavourful. We got rice. It had this sesame shredded cabbage as a side. It was yummy, but we all suggested that it needed red cabbage to add a colourful pop to the dish. We gave the most feedback on the miso soup. It was salty. I ended up taking water that I had filled a cup up at the station in the back and diluted my soup. It was less salty. The problem was that my water was cold and it made my soup cooler. The owner on the store apologized. We did a taste test between a batch of miso soup from yesterday that he had brought to our table versus the saltier one today. I tasted both. Yesterday's didn't have a strong miso flavour. Today's was too salty. I ended mixing the two. The miso flavour was perfect, but it was on the salty side. We got two cans of Coke zero. I can do Coke zero. One of my friends can't. We ended up trading one of the cans for regular Coke, which he likes. My can was cold. It didn't cause a sugar spike. All good. I also had one of the iced matcha lattes. I was thirsty from my miso soup. I loved it. It was cold. The matcha flavour was excellent. It was creamy from the milk in it. Three of us had the udon noodle soup. One of our friends can't have beef. The beef was thinly sliced and yummy. We all loved the chewiness of the udon. The broth wasn't overly salty. I liked it. The jammy egg was perfect. The green onions enhanced this dish. We got teriyaki chicken karaage. I love that it had kewpie mayo drizzled on top. The chicken was moist inside and crunchy on the outside. This dish came with rice and a runny fried egg. Delicious! We ordered a couple of jiggly pancakes: - Berry - Matcha It was my first time having the berry. It was excellent. I loved the berry compote poured all over the pancakes, which absorbed everything like a sponge. The pancakes were fluffy, jiggly, and delicious. I've had the matcha pancakes before. I loved the matcha sauce and the strawberry slices. It was nice having them again. I used the washroom before we called in a night. There are two single stalls. The one that I used was decent. I loved visited this cafe. It was nice spending time with friends over dinner and jiggly pancakes. I will return for the ube goodies! (115)
